She sat up abruptly and surveyed the surroundings.
“This is not my room!
“Why am I here?” she thought.
At this moment, an unfamiliar woman walked in from outside. When she saw Rachel had woken up, a friendly smile appeared on her face. “Miss Grey, you’re awake.”
“You are…?” Rachel looked at the woman and sized her up.
Hearing her words, the woman’s smile widened. “I’m the maid here. If you don’t mind, you can call me Mrs. Brown.”
As she spoke, she suddenly thought of something. “Miss Grey, please wait a moment. I’ll inform Mr. Jones now.”
Before Rachel could react, she turned around and left the room.
Not long after, footsteps came from the bedroom door.
Rachel could tell that this was not Mrs. Brown’s footsteps.
Her gaze was fixed on the door. She saw David in a black shirt appear at the bedroom door.
Rachel was suddenly stunned. She stared at the tall, straight man in front of her for a long time before gradually returning to her senses.
It turned out that it was not her imagination when she had vaguely heard David’s voice before she fainted.
“Feeling better?” David walked to Rachel’s side. At the side of the bed, he placed his palm on her forehead.
The moment he approached with his cold aura, Rachel subconsciously held her breath and focused. Her fingertips curled up slightly as she gripped the blanket under her. “I feel much better…
Her voice was a little hoarse, perhaps because of her fever last night.
David handed her a glass of water. “Drink some water.”
“Sir, the porridge is ready.”
Rachel looked up and noticed that Mrs. Brown was holding a plate in her hand. There was a white porcelain bowl on it that was emitting some steam.
David lifted his hand to unbutton the cuffs of his shirt. He rolled up his sleeves and said in a calm and magnetic voice, “Give it to me.”
After Mrs. Brown realized David’s intentions, she could not help but look at Rachel with a vague and ambiguous smile. “Miss Grey, if you need anything, just let me know.”
Finishing, she turned around and closed the door before leaving.
The room suddenly fell silent, and the atmosphere was slightly awkward.
“You had acute gastroenteritis last night, and it caused a fever. The doctor suggested that you keep a bland diet recently.” David’s slim fingers held the spoon and slowly stirred the porridge in the bowl. He brought it to his lips and blew on it before bringing it to Rachel’s lips. “Try it.”
“I’ll do it myself.” Rachel lowered her eyes in a panic and leaned back to avoid him.
However, David made up his mind to feed her. He stubbornly placed the spoon by her lips.
They were in a deadlock for a moment. Rachel compromised and opened her mouth.”
However, she had no appetite and shook her head after eating a few mouthfuls. “I’m full.”
“Even if you don’t have an appetite, you should at least eat some.” David looked at her with a soft gentleness in his eyes. He coaxed her again, “Be good. Eat more. After you’re done, I’ll take you for a walk in the garden.”
Rachel looked at David aggrievedly. Tears welled up in the corners of her eyes. “But I really can’t eat anymore.”
After saying that, she realized that her words had a hint of coquettishness.
In the past, when she was sick, she was always alone. She was used to being strong alone and dealing with everything alone. However, David’s appearance and meticulous care seemed to have drawn out the softness and grievances buried deep in her heart.
Her words came out naturally without any preparation.
Perhaps wheedling was every woman’s hidden attribute, but the trigger condition was the man’s absolute favoring.
Rachel was secretly annoyed by her pretentiousness just now. She wanted to explain, but before she could say anything, the man in front of her suddenly pressed down and sealed her lips.
She trembled and widened her eyes in disbelief. Her trembling pupils revealed a trace of panic.
David’s kiss was strong and gentle. It was passionate and lingering. His eyes seemed filled with infinite gentleness, gradually making Rachel forget to resist.
Her eyelashes fluttered, and she slowly closed her eyes, silently enduring his love. Her hands gripped the blanket under her uneasily.
A kiss of true love was like the fiercest poison in the world. It inadvertently numbed their senses, as if they were the only ones left in this crowded world. The hot and ambiguous atmosphere gradually spread throughout the entire room.
It was not until his kiss deepened that Rachel felt a little suffocated, and she became much more awake.
She suddenly opened her eyes and met David’s eyes.
His dark eyes saw through her eyes, making her feel frightened. She struggled to push his chest with her other hand, her breathing unstable as she struggled violently. “David Jones, that’s enough, enough…”
Her voice was soft and powerless, without the slightest intimidation. Instead, it stimulated David to become even crazier.
He was fierce and domineering, like a violent wind passing through.
Panicked, Rachel opened her mouth and bit his lips.
At the same time, blood that tasted as rust spread in their mouths.
David gradually came back to his senses.
Taking advantage of this opportunity, Rachel pushed him away mercilessly and retreated, breaking free from his shackles.
His pitch–black eyes hid a faint light, like an intoxicating vortex that attracted her to sink in.
Rachel hurriedly averted his gaze, but her heart was still racing uncontrollably.
“So this is how my Rae–Rae acts like a baby.” David’s deep and cold voice was mixed with hoarseness. The moment it sounded in her ear, it made her heart tremble.
Rachel felt her face burning. She took a deep breath, hurriedly put on her shoes, and pushed him away. “I want to go out and get some air.”
David held her wrist tightly and stared at her without blinking. His eyes were filled with infatuation. His Adam’s apple bobbed as he said unhurriedly, “Rae–Rae, you don’t have to pretend to be strong in front of me. My love for you will never disappear.”
Hearing this, Rachel felt her heart deeply touched.
After getting together with Louis, she knew that Louis did not like pretentious women, so she tried her best to be strong. She silently shouldered everything alone. Over time, that strongness was engraved in her bones and blood like a habit.
However, she was just an ordinary person. When she was sick, she needed someone to take care of her. When she was wronged, she needed someone to dote on her. Occasionally, she would like to act like a baby.
It had to be said that this man, David Jones, always easily touched the softest part of her heart.
She calmed herself down and looked up at David.
There was a faint smile on his lips and a hint of warmth in his deep eyes.
“David, are you so nice to every woman?”
“You’re my first woman,” he answered. “And the only one.”
Rachel could clearly feel his fingers caressing her sensitive earlobe like a feather tickling her heart.
She couldn’t take it anymore and brushed his hand away. “I want to go out and get some air.”
As she spoke, she left David behind and took the lead to rush out the door.
When Mrs. Brown saw Rachel, she immediately noticed her slightly swollen mouth. An ambiguous smile flashed across her eyes as she greeted respectfully, “Miss Grey.”
Rachel noticed the smile on her face. She revealed an awkward but polite smile and quickly left.
She walked into the backyard and realized that the size of this villa was not inferior to the mansion of the Johnson family.
There were countless strange flowers and plants in the garden, which was well–appointed with all kinds of modern furniture.
