Danika wondered what this meant. She quickly understood because, in the next second, one of the people attacking her suddenly switched up his battle style. His speed and his strength increased greatly, and the tables were turned.
“Oh. Someone has been holding back.” Danika had underestimated the Dickmans. She said it like it was nothing, but she grew serious in her fighting. Dill was good at fighting. He wasn’t that far off from Eustace, and it made her uneasy.
In all of Parrington, only Eustace was stronger than her. Now, there was another one.
“All together!”
Seeing that Danika couldn’t keep up anymore, Dill spoke up. He didn’t want to reveal all his techniques. If possible, he hadn’t wanted to expose himself at all.
At once, they attacked her together.
Danika realized the gravity of the situation and prepared to flee, but they didn’t give her the chance to do so. They surrounded her, not letting her escape. In the end, she was knocked unconscious.
Right as she passed out, she saw them heave sighs of relief. She was unlucky to have met people with such good fighting abilities.
Then, she blanked out.
Danika was missing.
When Eustace heard the news, he immediately left the meeting, leaving behind a group of very bewildered officials.
The surveillance footage was quickly found. Danika appeared on the camera, and it was clearly seen that she followed the men somewhere. As for what they said and where they went, no one knew.
“Keep up the investigations,” Eustace said darkly and left the surveillance room. He held his phone and called Yvonne. “Where’s Danika?”
“Miss Danika?” Yvonne was puzzled. “What’s wrong with her? I was with you all day. I haven’t seen her.”
Eustace frowned, but he came to his senses immediately. Yvonne was by his side the whole day. She had no time to lay hands on Danika.
But who else could it be?
Eustace at once thought of Steven. Coldly, he asked, “What about Steven? Where is he?”
“Steven? I don’t know, either.” Yvonne shook her head, saying, “Maybe he’s at home. He never goes out.”
Eustace scoffed and hung up. He drove toward Dickman Villa, furious enough to kill.
When Yvonne hung up, her face was full of hatred..
At this time, Steven had probably already gone to meet his maker.
“Don’t panic, Eustace. You’ll find Danika very soon. I won’t let anything happen to her.” Yvonne thought and laughed loudly.
Eustace soon found out about Danika’s last whereabouts. The cameras lost her near a hotel. Anyone would make the connection and search the hotel.
Eustace barged in with his men, but because he didn’t know where she was, he had no choice but to search.
every room.
Meanwhile, Danika woke up groggily in the presidential suite on the hotel’s highest floor. She glanced around at her unfamiliar surroundings in a daze.
She got to her senses quickly and surveyed the area. It was quiet. No one was around, but one of the bedroom doors was open, as if waiting for her to enter.
After a moment’s hesitation, Danika got up and prepared to go in. Since she was brought here, she probably couldn’t escape that easily. If that was the case, she might as well figure out what they were up
Before long, she sensed that something wasn’t right. The floor appeared to be wet. She looked down, and her expression shifted.
It wasn’t water. It was blood. And it wasn’t just the floor. She was covered in blood, even on her hands. But the blood on her hands looked like they had been rinsed off, and it wasn’t very obvious. That was why she didn’t realize it at once.
Her brain, which was already spinning before, was drawing blanks. What was this? Where had the blood come from? Whose was it?
Her gaze trailed toward the bedroom, where the path of blood led.
She gnashed her teeth and walked toward the bedroom. But right as she stepped into the doorway, al slam sounded from the main entrance.
She was about to scream for them to stop, but the door crashed open.
Eustace strode in. His anxious gaze rested on Danika, and he was stunned for a long moment before coming back to his senses.
“Are you alright?” he asked, his voice thick with worry.
Danika was shocked and asked, uncertain, “Are you here for me?”
Eustace’s face darkened immediately. “What, you think I’m here for a vacation?”
Danika smiled dryly. She wasn’t quite sure how to describe what she was feeling. She would never have guessed that the first person to come to help her when she was in danger would be Eustace. It was such an irony.
“Are you alright? What happened?” He walked over to her side, asking about what had happened.
She shook her head. Truthfully speaking, she was still a little dazed. “Nothing.”
Eustace furrowed his eyebrows. “Nothing at all?”
Danika nodded. She knew Eustace was equally bewildered. She was kidnapped, but nothing was done to her. Her kidnappers had only dumped her in this hotel for Eustace to find. What was the point of this?
At this moment, Eustace caught sight of the blood on the floor and looked at Danika worriedly. “Are you hurt?”
“It’s not my blood.” Danika shook her head, turning toward the bedroom.
Eustace looked over as well. They exchanged a glance with each other and walked in together.
The curtains were drawn. It was dark. When they walked in, they saw nothing at first.
Eustace walked over to the windows and pulled the curtains apart. When he turned back, he saw Danika frozen in her spot, and panic flashed through her eyes.
“What’s wrong?” He walked over.
Danika didn’t reply. It was then that Eustace saw everything, too.
On the king-sized bed lay a familiar figure. The upper half of his body had been stripped, and he lay there unmoving like a rock.
No. Eustace thought that he wasn’t like a rock. He was a dead rock. A dagger pierced his chest, and his blood stained the entire bed. There was no way he could have lived.
“Is he dead?” Danika said after a long time. She was doing her best to stay calm.
Eustace walked over to check his breathing. He shook his head. “He’s gone.”
Danika, who felt like she had been preparing herself for this, stepped back.
The person lying on the bed was Steven, whom she hated. She wished for him to spend his life in prison, but when he lay dead before her, she found it hard to stomach.
It wasn’t because she was a saint. It was because she thought something as vile and disgusting as he should be punished by law, not by anyone else.
Danika lapsed into deep thought. However, Eustace’s sharp senses told him things weren’t as simple as they seemed.
He turned toward Danika and said, “You and Steven were in the same room, and now he’s dead. This is a huge problem. Go. Don’t let anyone see you.”
Danika snapped back to reality and understood what Eustace meant. Anyone could figure out that this was a trap. Someone was trying to frame her.
With that thought in mind, Danika was relieved. She feared being kept in the dark about her kidnapper’s motives. Now that she knew, things were easy to handle.
“It’s okay. I want to know who exactly would sacrifice a life to hurt me.” Her gaze grew sharp. Steven was a bastard, but he still had a life.
“Don’t be stubborn. If you stay here-”
“I’m not a child, Mr. Quincey. I don’t need your protection,” she interjected, looking at him steadily.
Eustace was stunned, as if he couldn’t quite figure her out. Danika was not like the other girls. They needed to be protected, and they wanted to be protected. But Danika didn’t need it. She could always handle things. on her own.
