She was speechless. Alright. Since he thought that one large patch of red skin meant nothing, she didn’t. have to pity him..
The car started toward Gilbert’s villa.
Right as they reached the entrance, they bumped into Zack and Gilbert, who were about to leave. Danika was surprised. “Zack! Gilbert! Where are you guys going?”
“Danika?” Gilbert was shocked. “Are you alright? We just heard that someone was attacking you and were about to go to your condo.”
“I’m fine.” Danika shook her head and looked at Zack. “Zack, has the footage been recovered?”
Zack instantly lowered his head, not daring to meet Danika’s eyes. He felt ashamed. “Not yet. It should be done soon.”
He hadn’t done a lot of footage recovery jobs before. He didn’t think that it would be so hard.
“I’ll do it.” Danika didn’t blame him. She knew that Zack had already tried his best. This wasn’t his area of expertise.
They went into the villa together. It was then that Gilbert noticed Eustace, and he frowned. “Mr. Quincey?”
“Gilbert.” Eustace nodded.
“You and Danika…”
“Someone was targeting Danika. I happened to save her and got a little hurt, but you needn’t worry.” Eustace raised his arm, putting it on display for Gilbert to see.
Gilbert thought that Eustace was showing off. Was he always so immature?
Gilbert couldn’t be bothered to entertain him. He quickly wanted to follow Zack and Danika.
Only Gilbert and Eustace were in the living room. Danika and Zack had gone to the study, so they couldn’t quite intrude.
“You seem to have taken a fancy to my sister, Mr. Quincey,” Gilbert said.
Eustace smirked and corrected him. “Not quite, Gilbert. I’m pursuing her. I don’t have ulterior motives. I’m only being sincere.”
Gilbert rolled his eyes and said impatiently, “With the way you’re saying it, I’d never think that you divorced my sister,”
His words hit a little close to home, but Eustace continued, “Anyone would find it hard to accept suddenly having a wife. I believe you would understand. As for why I’m pursuing her now, it’s because I truly like her from the bottom of my heart. It’s not because she’s my ex-wife.”
At his words, Gilbert’s heart ached. He retorted, “Who do you think she is? Do you think you can marry her just because you want to? It’s not just her. As part of her family, I wouldn’t let her get back together with her ex.”
Eustace’s expression shifted. He no longer looked at Gilbert as kindly. “Family? I’m afraid you don’t want to be just her family, Gilbert.”
Gilbert’s face twisted, and he shot up from his chair. “Eustace Quincey! What do you mean by that?”
“Don’t you know what I mean?” Eustace smiled mockingly. They were both men. What was the use of pretending?
Gilbert clenched his fists and glared at him in hatred. “I’m warning you to cut the crap. You have no right to comment on things between Danika and me.”
“Are you afraid that Danika will find out you have feelings for her?” Eustace’s words hit the nail on the head. Gilbert didn’t reply, merely keeping a sour expression on his face.
Eustace leaned back on the chair, grinning from ear to ear.
“I wonder if Danika becomes aware of your feelings for her, would she still treat you like a brother?”
Despite Eustace’s threat, Gilbert was unfazed. Instead, he asked, “Are you close with Danika? Do you she’ll believe you or me if you told her that?”
Eustace fell silent as he knew that Danika would undoubtedly believe in Gilbert.
“Well, if you would continue being only a brother to her, I won’t have to tell her,” he replied.

Gilbert snorted in response. “No matter what becomes of my relationship with Danika, I won’t allow you to be with her!”
The door to the study opened just as the two were about to confront each other, and Danika and Zack walked into the living room.
“Gilbert?”
Danika immediately noticed the tension in the room and circled the two of them suspiciously.
Gilbert’s gaze softened instantly when he heard her voice.
“Danika, have you fixed it?” he asked, turning his head.
“Well, I’ve already sent the video to Mr. Chapman.” Danika nodded.
“That’s good.” Gilbert heaved a sigh of relief. “Stay for lunch. I’ll cook for you.”
“Alright,” Danika said, smiling instantly. “It’s been a long time since I’ve eaten your cooking.”
“Shall we go grocery shopping together?” Gilbert purposely invited her in front of Eustace to prove that Danika would always trust him and that Eustace’s knowledge held no power over him.
Eustace silently observed the smile on Danika’s face before turning to Gilbert. For some reason, he found him to be quite cunning. Gilbert was definitely not a good person.
Danika was about to leave with Gilbert when she noticed Eustace standing in a corner.
Feeling a little embarrassed, she said, “Mr. Quincey, you
“I would love to try Mr. Hawthorn’s cooking. Could I join you?” he asked as he made sure his scalded arm was visible to them. He even angled himself in a position that would make his face appear paler.
Gilbert gritted his teeth in rage while Danika looked like she felt bad.
“Gilbert…”
“Mr. Quincey, you saved my sister. Of course, you’re invited,” Gilbert said with a smile, swallowing his anger.” You can wait at home while Danika and I go grocery shopping.”
“Let’s all go together.”
There was no way he would allow Danika and Gilbert to be alone. That would only aid Gilbert’s cause.
Gilbert seethed, barely keeping his anger in check. Alas, since Danika was right beside him, he couldn’t allow his anger to show. Hence, he replied, “Sure, as long as you aren’t tired.”
“Of course, I’m not tired. i just want to be with Danika.” With a smile, he walked over to her.
Instantly, Danika felt goosebumps rising all over her body. She shot Eustace an angry look and said, “Don’t think I’ll tolerate everything you do just because you’re hurt. I’m warning you, if you repeat that disgusting sentence, I will…”
