River had no idea that Noah and Reuben saw her.
Reuben was stunned. “That person looks like Ms. Healy, sir.”
Noah’s gaze dimmed.
“Isn’t she in the hospital? Why is she here? Can she drink?” Reuben questioned.
Noah frowned and looked at Reuben in displeasure. “Why don’t you ask her yourself if you want to know so badly?”
Reuben realized he had spoken out of turn, so he hastily looked away. I’m sorry, sir.”
Noah walked into the private room opposite River’s.
Meanwhile, in Room 303.
River and Jayden sat down after shaking hands.
River said, “Mr. Curry, I brought you the liquor you like.”
River placed the bottle on the table and beckoned the waiter to open it.
Jayden’s eyes lit up. “You are generous indeed. I can’t afford this drink on normal days.”
River said smilingly, “You’re so good at joking, Mr. Curry. I heard from your wife you have a collection of good liquors at home.”
Jayden’s smile faded as soon as his wife was mentioned. “Ms. Healy, a homely woman like her doesn’t understand things like this!”
River smiled and stood up to pour the drink for Jayden after the waiter was done opening the bottle.
“I spoke inappropriately earlier, and I hope I didn’t dampen your enthusiasm, Mr. Curry.”
River did it on purpose because Jayden was known in Novamere for being a rascal. She wanted to remind Jayden she had his wife’s number so he would not act inappropriately.
Noticing that River had a good attitude and poured him drinks, Jayden smiled and said, “Ms. Healy, I can’t be angry at you for such a trivial matter.”
As he was speaking, he placed his chubby hand on her hand and said, “Right?”
River’s body turned stiff, and she pulled back her hand to pour herself a drink. “You’re right,
River raised her glass at Jayden. “Mr. Curry, thank you for taking the time to meet me tonight. I shall toast the drink to you.”
She tipped the glass and finished the drink.
Jayden smiled wider. “You’re a good drinker, Ms. Healy. I shall finish my drink, too!”
In Room 306.
Noah sat and listened to a group of business owners engaging in small talk around him, but his attention remained fixed on the room across from him. The closed door prevented him from seeing inside except when waiters entered to serve dishes.
A waiter opened the door to deliver a dish by chance, revealing Jayden and River inside. They were sharing drinks and exchanging suggestive smiles.
Noah’s expression turned cold as he asked inwardly. Is she trying to strike a deal with that notorious womanizer even before she has fully recovered?‘
The private room’s door closed slowly, and Noah received a drink.
One of the men at his table raised his glass, saying, “Here’s to you, Mr. De Marco, for bringing me on board for the new project.”
Noah raised his glass and nodded in acknowledgment
The man seemed somewhat uncomfortable, nervously touching his nose before moving on to converse with someone else.
Noah’s eyes once again drifted toward the room opposite.
After a few drinks and noticing Jayden’s improved mood, River said, “Mr. Curry, I’d like to discuss a potential collaboration with our clothing factory.”
Jayden chuckled. “Ms. Healy, discussing business after just a few drinks? That’s not very subtle of you.”
River concealed her emotions and replied, “Mr. Curry, we can talk business while enjoying our drinks.”
Jayden set down his glass and casually draped his arm over River’s shoulder, causing her face. to contort in pain from her shoulder injury.
Jayden’s hand continued to roam on River’s shoulder. I always enjoy discussing work after a few drinks, Ms. Healy.”
River felt anxious–she understood Jayden’s intentions.
‘He just wants me to get drunk so he can manipulate me, right? He’ll only agree to work with me once he gets what he wants!’
River took a deep breath. “Mr. Curry, you know the challenges my company faces with the incomplete factory construction. Given your experience in this field, you understand the complexities of such issues. If we collaborate now, we can mutually benefit in the long run. Isn’t this a great opportunity?”
Jayden’s hand subtly shifted on River’s shoulder, and he chuckled. “Ms, Healy, my company is thriving. It’s you who’s facing difficulties.”
Jayden leaned closer to River, and his alcohol–laden breath washed over her.
He lifted River’s chin with a lustful gaze. “You need to approach this differently if you want my favor.”
River’s gaze turned cold. “Since you’re not interested in collaboration, Mr. Curry-”
The door burst open before she could finish her sentence.

River and Jayden looked up abruptly to see Noah entering the room solemnly.
Jayden was stunned, hastily retracting his hand as he stood. “Mr. De Marco? You’re here too-”
Before he could finish, Noah grabbed him by the collar and punched him.
River’s eyes widened in shock.
Noah began kicking Jayden’s abdomen before she could comprehend the situation.”
Jayden cried out in pain. “Mr. De Marco! Let’s talk! Don’t hit me!”
Noah gestured to Reuben. “Break his arm!”
He then approached River, pulling her from the chair.
River felt a sharp pain in her arm as she was yanked, realizing her wound had reopened.
Noah dragged her into another empty room and slammed the door shut loudly.
River struggled to stand steadily when she heard Noah’s enraged voice. “You had dinner with that man just to secure a factory deal?‘
With great effort, River steadied herself and replied in a tipsy voice, “I can have dinner with.
whomever I please!”
“Don’t tell me you’re unaware of who Jayden really is!” Noah retorted.
“So what if I know? It’s none of your business, Noah, River shot back.
Noah’s expression was serious, his anger evident.
“Speechless? I remember you telling your father the same thing.” River sneered, leaning closer.
to him. “You told your father that my survival is none of your concern‘ So why did you barge in and ruin my deal now?”
Noah exclaimed, “It’s true that it’s none of my business, but I don’t want Axel to hear that his mother sleeps with anyone for personal gain!”
River slapped him.
“You’ve lost your mind, Noah!” River yelled, tears welling up in her eyes. “Am I sleeping with anyone? It’s you who forcefully terminated the factory lease, leaving me no choice but to have dinner with that repulsive man! The children are waiting for me at home. Do you think I want to drink in this condition?”
Noah gazed at River, struggling to contain his emotions.
Her left hand trembled, and blood stains were visible on her fair complexion.
Noah’s chest tightened, and he forced himself to look away from River’s tear–filled eyes.
Noah felt wavering for no apparent reason. “You still owe me an explanation on my mother’s matter!”
River sneered. “Explanation? Sure, I’ll give you one!”
River raised her chin at Noah, grabbed his hand, and placed it on her throat. “Here’s the explanation! Take it if you want!”
Noah’s solemn eyes narrowed when he felt the moist warmth of River’s body.
“Don’t make me, River!”
“Make you? It’s not that you’ve never done this! If you’re so sure I did it, kill me then! Don’t tell me you don’t want my life! Rather than being interrogated over and over again, you might as well take my life so I can die with your mother!” River said shakily.
“You want me to acknowledge I caused your mother’s death, right? I shall tell you now, then! I did.
it on purpose. I killed your mother on purpose to seek revenge on you. I want to see your pain. Will that be enough?”
She couldn’t bear how he repeatedly mentioned his mother. The stress had overwhelmed her ever since his mother’s passing. Now, she was mentally drained and wished she could just escape it all.
“Shut up!”
Noah suppressed the urge to choke her to death. He wanted to pull back his hand, yet she held.
him tightly.
River was irrational, perhaps due to the alcohol.
“Kill me, Noah!”
Noah’s eyes were bloodshot with rage. “Shut up!”
River shed tears constantly and shouted at Noah in disappointment. “Since you have no trust in me, just end me quickly instead of tormenting me like this!”
In the next moment, Noah suddenly tightened his grip and swiftly pulled her by the throat toward him.
He lowered his head and bit her lips, causing River to feel a sharp pain and taste blood. The alcohol–induced haze in her head cleared instantly. She instinctively wanted to push Noah away but could not move him.
Suddenly, Reuben opened the door and exclaimed, “Mr. De Marco…”
Witnessing the fiery scène, Reuben fell silent and quickly shut the door.
Noah loosened his grip upon hearing the commotion. His lips were stained with River’s blood, giving him a seductive appearance.
