Joseph arrived shortly after, and River and Scott approached him with the children.
Joseph smiled. Upon seeing Scott, he asked, “Who is this?”
Liora beat River to the introduction. ‘Sir, nice to meet you. This is my father.”
Joseph then glanced at the two children and was pleased with their charm. He bent over and asked amiably, “What are your names?”
“I’m Lia, and it means I’m Mommy’s light,” Liora replied.
“That’s a unique introduction,” Joseph remarked with a smile.
Tyler introduced them grumpily, “Sir, she is Liora Healy, and I am Tyler Healy.”
This made Joseph laugh. “Hello, Liora and Tyler. I’m Joseph Gull, the principal of this school.”
He then touched their heads and straightened up, extending his hand to Scott. “Hello, I’m Joseph
Gull.”
Scott shook hands with Joseph. “Hello, I’m Scott Wilson.”
Joseph withdrew his hand and turned to River “Ms Healy, if you don’t mind, I’ll have two teachers conduct a simple assessment of the kids.”
River nodded. “Certainly. I trust your judgment
After exchanging pleasantries, they headed to the teaching building, with Joseph contacting the two teachers on their way.
Upon entering the building, the two teachers approached and greeted Joseph before turning their attention to Liora and Tyler. They then led the children away.
Joseph invited River and Scott into his office. He poured coffee for them and then got down to business. “Ms. Healy, if the kids perform well in their assessments, would you consider transferring them to Merlin School?”
River got straight to the point. “Mr. Gull, this is why I’m here today.”
Her frankness caught Joseph off guard. “Really? Is it the boy who’s good with computers? Or are both the kids skilled at it?”
River replied, “It’s Ty. There’s another boy named Axel who’s been accepted into this school.”
Stunned, Joseph now realized that Noah had a son with River. He exchanged a knowing glance with Scott but said no more.
He continued. “Ms. Healy, you don’t have to worry if they study here. I’ll focus on training them. Also, I received the design of our school uniforms from your company a few days ago. My father was very pleased with it.”
River beamed “Thank you for approving my company…”
After chatting for half an hour, the two teachers arrived with Tyler and Liora
They surprised Joseph by informing him, “Mr. Gull, they requested an admission test, and we have the results. They both qualify for admission to our school.”
Joseph sprang up with delight. “Wonderful! Ms. Healy, let’s start the transfer process for them, right away.”
River was shocked. Unexpectedly, her children had requested it and had passed the test. Her triplets were exceptionally bright. One had to wonder about the advanced nature of Noah’s genes.
“River?” River snapped back to reality at Scott’s gentle voice.
Feeling awkward, she said, “I’m sorry I got distracted by how surprised I was. Mr. Gull, I’ll handle the transfer and admission procedures immediately. Please take good care of my kids from now on.”
“You’re welcome. I don’t want to miss any smart kids, either,” he replied
River texted Paige and Kenny with the good news afterward.
Paige created a group chat with River and Kenny.
Kenny: [How wonderful! We must celebrate tonight.]
Paige: [Kenny’s right. This is a major milestone for the kids. Let’s have a big celebration tonight!]
Their responses left River at a loss for words. She felt mixed emotions as she saw how happy her children were and read Paige and Kenny’s enthusiastic plans in the group chat.
Tyler and Liora were ecstatic. But what about Axel? Did someone celebrate with him? Would Noah take him out for a nice meal?
Kenny reserved a party hall in a children’s restaurant for the evening and invited River’s close.
friends. He ensured the venue was cozy, earning deep gratitude from Tyler and Liora.
Being praised, Kenny was as proud as a peacock as he raised his brows at River with his head. held high.
River smiled. “Thank you very much. I’m sure you put in a lot of effort to arrange this.”
Paige teased Kenny. “River, he didn’t set this up himself. He hired someone else for it.”
Scott handed Kenny a glass of juice. It’s already very thoughtful of him, isn’t it, Kenny?”
Kenny quickly hugged Scott’s arm and exclaimed, “I knew you understood me best, Dr. Wilson.
Paige is so unromantic.”
“Yeah, you’re right.” Paige then turned to River. “River, where’s your brother?”
River checked her watch. “I guess he’s stuck in traffic. Let me go downstairs and call him.”
She left the hall and stood by the road to wait for Neil. She was about to call him when his car pulled up in front of her.
Neil got out of the car and walked toward her. “River, why are you standing outside?”
While speaking, he took off his coat and placed it on her. “You’ve just been discharged from the hospital. You can’t be out in the wind.”
River chuckled and said, “Neil, don’t worry. I’m not that fragile. I just came downstairs to find you since you were taking so long.”
Neil affectionately replied, “Could I have lost my way?”
River teasingly said, “Well, who knows for sure?”
Neil countered, “You’re sharp as always. Let’s head upstairs then.”
River agreed, and they moved upstairs.
Meanwhile, Noah observed River and Neil’s exchange from his car parked across from them.
Slowly, his fingers clenched on his thighs, and his expression darkened.
Noticing Noah’s reaction, Alex glanced at Axel. “Should we go, Axel? We’re here.”
Axel remained low–spirited but slowly looked up at Alex and replied, “Okay.”
Alex slyly looked toward Noah, thinking, “Yes! Noah’s getting jealous again.”
He led Axel out of the car and acted nonchalant as he spoke. “Noah, let’s go. What are you waiting for?”
Noah looked away and reluctantly got out of the car. He silently walked toward the children’s restaurant.
Meanwhile, Alex suppressed his smile and guided Axel inside.
Axel stumbled a bit due to Alex’s pace and requested, “Mr. Price, please, a bit slower.”
Alex stopped and awkwardly smiled. “I’m sorry, Axel. I forgot I’m taller.”
Axel knew his legs were too sore to walk fast. Otherwise, he could have easily kept up with Alex
Noah searched for River in the restaurant but couldn’t find her until he heard Liora’s laughter from the hall. He narrowed his eyes when he saw the people gathered there.
Alex noticed River and the others, which left him puzzled.
Alex thought, ‘Why are Paige and the three men with unclear relationships with River here?”
He approached Noah and said, “Noah, River and Paige are here too! I need to go say hi to Paige.”
With that, he scooped up the surprised Axel and headed for the hall, leaving Noah no choice but to follow.
Their sudden entrance silenced the cheerful atmosphere in the hall.
Paige’s eyes widened as she asked Alex, “Why are you here?”
Alex motioned to Axel in his arms and explained, “We brought Axel for dinner but didn’t expect to see you guys here. I just came to say hi.”
Paige’s lips twitched in disbelief at his response.
“Axel!” Liora’s excitement caused her to abandon her cake and rush toward Axel.
However, Paige stopped her in her tracks. “Wait, Lia.”
Confused, Liora tilted her head but soon realized her mother hadn’t agreed to let Noah and the others join them.
Neil and Noah locked eyes, creating an uncomfortable tension in the room.
River noticed Axel’s weight loss and felt sorry, believing he must be unhappy after Noah had taken him away. She got up and approached Alex, inviting him to join them. Her willingness to tolerate Noah’s presence was solely to see Axel.
That’s exactly what Alex hoped River would say.
He promptly handed Axel to River. ‘Sure thing.
Afterward, he approached Paige.
While holding Axel, River shot Noah a distant glare. “Please, take a seat.”
Noah glanced at the three men connected to River in some way and scoffed. “Where should I sit?
“What do you mean?” River frowned.
Noah explained, Noah explained, ‘Should I sit next to Neil, your current boyfriend, or Kenny, who has a complicated relationship with you? Or maybe next to Scott? Your kids call him Papa Wilson, and he shares an intriguing connection with you?”
His words made River narrow her eyes ‘Noah, are you-”
River stopped herself in time and held back her curses. She didn’t want to use strong language.
with Axel around.
Kenny pursed his lips in disdain. “Mr. De Marco, forget it if you don’t want to join. Why bother?”
His comment earned a cold glare from Noah
Ignoring Kenny, Noah pulled a chair aside and sat down.
Axel gently placed his cold hand on River’s “Mommy, just put me down. You’ll get tired.”
River’s injuries hadn’t fully healed, and Axel didn’t want to be a burden.
Nodding, River set Axel down and asked worriedly, “Axel, do you eat properly?”
Axel weakly forced a smile. “Yes. I just didn’t sleep well. Mommy, don’t worry.”
But River’s worry persisted, though she didn’t pursue it further because she didn’t have his custody.
The siblings soon had fun together, and River returned to sit beside Neil.
Kenny moved closer and sat to River’s left, effectively sandwiching her between Neil and himself.
Noah’s face turned red at the sight. Suppressing his rage, he mocked, “Hmph! What a harmonious trio!”
