Natalie had just arrived at work when she heard that Howard had been released from police custody. The gossip about Howard being arrested the night before was spreading fast all around the company. She talked to a few people, fishing to see how much they knew, but no one seemed to be aware of why he had really been arrested. It seemed that Howard, knowing he had been in the wrong, was trying to suppress the matter. She was relieved; she didn’t want to be embarrassed in front of the whole company because of him.
The morning was peaceful and quiet. She was worried that Howard would come and cause trouble, but he didn’t make an appearance. She was thinking that if he dared to come, she would hit him so hard that he wouldn’t be able to speak. He had dared to plot against her using such despicable methods. It was shameless. It was disgusting.
While she was thinking about this, she received a phone call. It was an unfamiliar number. She picked up and said, “Hello, this is Natalie Davidson.”
A young woman on the other end of the line said in a clear voice, “Hello, I understand that you were trying to recruit an assistant. Can I apply for the role?”
Natalie was a little taken aback. In her ads, she had specified experience as the prime criterion to apply for the position of her assistant. But this voice on the phone sounded like it belonged to a teenager. Natalie said, “We’re looking for an experienced assistant. How old are you?”
“I’m 21 years old this year. Is that okay?” the caller said sweetly.
Natalie thought that a 21-year-old was simply too young, so she sounded skeptical as she said, “Why don’t you come over to the office for an interview?”
The girl on the phone seemed very excited and said immediately, “Okay, okay, I’ll be right there,” before hanging up.
She thought for a moment and decided to call Tony and have him come to the office to assess the assistant himself. In response to Natalie’s call, Tony rushed to her office. He’d been in the practice room training, and his sweatshirt was damp with sweat.
Tony said, “Natalie, I’ve maybe found an assistant. From now on, there’ll be more work to do, and I can’t do it alone. The potential assistant is coming for an interview later. If you’re satisfied with her, she can get the job.”
Tony nodded, his face full of gratitude. Natalie really looked out for him, he could tell.
Since the candidate wouldn’t arrive for a while, Natalie started to busy herself with other tasks. She logged on to social media first. She wanted to see what was trending recently, but the first thing she saw was Tony’s social media pages. She took a closer look. There was stuff there about the photos of Tony dressed as Marie Antoinette. The magazine’s official social media account had posted a few of the photos as a promotional post after the shoot the previous day. Tony’s fans had seen these photos and spread them around with lots of comments. Since then, the posts had appeared in lots of popular searches.
She browsed through some of the comments and found them quite interesting:
“Tony looks too beautiful when he plays the part of a woman. He was once a male god, but now he’s my goddess.”
“Young Tony is so handsome, so sweet. He’s simply perfect. I’m going to marry him.”
“Alright, I saw it in the magazine. I admit I have become a fan.”
Along with these comments, Tony’s social media fan count had increased by another large amount. Natalie rejoiced. Her plan had only been to make the magazine happy, but she hadn’t expected all this social media excitement as well. This could be considered an unexpected gain.
Soon after, she found another trending subject on the search engine: “The New King.” She was stunned. This seemed to be related to her playing the part of King Louis in the shoot. She clicked through to the stories, and the comments made her blush:
“Ugh, I’m so jealous of that person who teased my Tony. Return my male God!”
“That king looks really good. Who is he? I’d like to get to know him. Is he a new actor on the block?”
Seeing all these comments about her, she was really speechless. She hadn’t expected to become famous herself while she was working with Tony. The official social media platform for Optimal Magazine was about to explode. The number of users there had risen massively, many of them asking about the real identity of the king in the pictures.
Coincidentally, at that moment, the editor of the magazine, Laura Caylis, phoned. When Natalie answered, Laura said, “Hello, Natalie. I’m sure you’ve seen the explosion on social media. Thanks to your creativity, we’re going viral. I would like to thank you on behalf of the magazine.”
Then she continued, “I’d like to ask you if we can announce your identity as the king and make the dreams of the fans come true.”
Natalie thought about it for a while, feeling troubled. She actually wanted to keep a low profile. After all, she wasn’t a celebrity. But then she thought about how in this industry, with all the internet coverage, no one would be able to keep themselves hidden for long. She might as well let it be revealed sooner rather than later.
Natalie said, “Sure, Laura, why not? Publish it.”
The magazine moved very quickly. Not long after Laura hung up, the Optimal website announced that the king was none other than Natalie Davidson, Tony Bovel’s agent. This news prompted another social media explosion:
“So the king is a woman? Isn’t she too beautiful?”
“Yeah, I thought it was a very handsome guy. Her disguise as a man was too successful.”
“I liked him. I don’t care; I’m in love with the king. I want to marry him.”
Next, the number of Natalie’s personal social media followers also skyrocketed. Quite a few people posted, urging her to become a celebrity as well, suggesting that it would help her in her role as an agent to the stars.
