Several police officers were present outside Daniella’s room. One of them approached Noah, saying, “Mr.
De Marco, Ms. Love asked us to give you this before she lost consciousness The officer handed Noah a sack filled with dusty medicinal herbs Noah examined it with a puzzled expression. He discovered a note containing an image of the herbs, their scientific name, and the name of a supplement store, along with a message indicating they were helpful for late–stage leukemia patients.
Noah returned the note to the sack and asked, “Is she severely hurt?”
The officer replied, “She has multiple abrasions on her body. She kept talking about delivering this item to you.”
Mixed emotions swirled within Noah. Despite his dislike for Danielle, she had exerted considerable effort to aid Axel’s recovery this time. It would be ungrateful not to allow her to see Axel after her efforts.
After a brief conversation with the police officers, Noah entered the room, unaware that someone had discreetly taken photos of him doing so.
To his surprise, these photos were promptly posted online and became a top–searched post.
Later that evening, Kenny returned to Bayview Villa, appearing cautious and occasionally stealing glances at River.
River sensed something was amiss, but Kenny averted his gaze whenever she looked at him.
River remarked, “You’ve been looking at me strangely. Are you hiding something?”
Kenny chuckled nervously. “Why would I hide anything from you?”
River said, “You’re not fooling me with that laughter.”
Kenny admitted, “It’s nothing, really. Has Eira prepared dinner? Let’s eat.”
River chose not to press further upon seeing Kenny’s reluctance to speak.
As River headed to the dining room, her phone rang unexpectedly. She answered Palge’s call, putting it on speaker, and asked, “What’s going on, Paige?”
Paige gasped. “River! That insincere woman fell off a mountain, and Noah visited her! What on earth is happening?”
River and Kenny were shocked. Paige had revealed what he lacked the courage to say himself.
River regained her composure and replied casually, “Noted.”
‘So, Noah rushed off because of Daniella. This is absurd. I’ve suspected Noah and Daniella’s connection due to Axel so many times. What more is there to explain now? she thought.
River hung up the call and headed to the dining room.
Alarmed by her expression, Kenny asked, “Are you okay, G?”
River stopped and faced Kenny. “What’s wrong with me? Are you joining us for dinner?”
“Yes,” Kenny hastily replied, following River to the dining room.
Back at the hospital, Reuben informed Noah about the viral post, Noah looked solemn as he ordered, “Take action against the media company that published it.”
Concern for River filled Noah’s thoughts, prompting him to quickly dial her number.
However, River rejected the call.
Noah clutched his phone tightly and headed for the elevator, ignoring Reuben’s offer of an umbrella.
Twenty minutes later, Noah arrived at Bayview Villa, stepping out of the car into the pouring rain. He knocked on the door, calling out, “River, open the door!”
The door swung open just as his voice trailed off. Kenny stood before Noah with crossed arms and said coldly, “Please do not disturb River while she rests, Mr. De Marco.”
“Don’t stop me from finding River!” Noah yelled, trying to push Kenny aside.
Kenny blocked the doorway, fuming, and asked, “How can you still have the audacity to see her?”
“My relationship with her is none of your concern!” Noah’s eyes were cold.
Kenny retorted, “It’s my concern because I’m her friend! If you want to be with Daniella, why do you keep visiting River? She’s given you chances, but you’ve let her down repeatedly!”
Noah grew impatient. “Get out of my way!”
Kenny challenged, “I won’t let you see River with that attitude unless you fight me!”
Noah narrowed his eyes and clenched his fists.
Kenny panicked as he glanced at Noah’s fists but refused to move.
“You should leave.”
Suddenly, River’s voice was heard.
Kenny turned to her. “What are you doing out here? Haven’t you given up on him yet?”
River calmly looked at Kenny. “Go inside first. I’ll talk to him.”
Kenny glared at Noah and told River, “Please, don’t be lenient with him again this time.”
River nodded and turned to Noah with a serious expression. She walked to the doorway, closed the door, and said, “Let’s resolve this once and for all.”
Noah asked, “Why did you hang up on me?”
“Since you’re so eager to care for Daniella, I thought it would be better not to disturb you,” River replied nonchalantly.
Noah explained, “She collected medicinal herbs for Axel and had an accident on the mountain. The police called me.”
River asked, “And then?”
Noah said, “There’s nothing else to report.”
River said, “Alright, now it’s my turn to speak.”
Noah had a foreboding feeling.
River continued. “You dislike Casey, and you know how much I dislike Daniella. I considered getting back together with you, but I can’t stand the thought of you wavering between me and my enemy-
“I didn’t!” Noah insisted solemnly.
River countered, “You might not think you did, but your actions show that you still care about her.”
Noah felt helpless, realizing how his actions had caused this misunderstanding.
River took a deep breath. “That’s all I have to say.”
top She turned to go inside.
Noah called after her, “You accuse me of not trusting you, but aren’t you doing the same to me?‘
River stopped and chuckled in disappointment. “Ask yourself if your actions make it easy for me to believe in you River then walked into the villa.
Noah’s expression turned serious as the door closed. What am I supposed to do? he wondered..
Inside the villa, Kenny approached River. “How did it go? Did you manage to clear things up with him?”
River walked to the living room and sat down. “I believe I’ve made myself clear, but I’m not sure if he understands.”
Kenny took a couple of steps closer and glanced out the window. “He’s still standing outside.”
“Let him stand if he wishes,” River said, agitated.
Kenny rubbed his hands together. “It’s freezing out there, and it’s raining. He’s not dressed warmly enough River looked at Kenny, annoyed. “If you’re concerned, go stand with him!”
Seeing River’s frustration, Kenny quickly said, “Alright, alright. I won’t mention him again. Let’s ignore him and let him deal with the cold.”
Meanwhile, upstairs in the bedroom.
Tyler and Liora watched Noah.
Tyler asked, “Lia, did you tell him that Mommy was sick the other day?
Liora was taken aback. “I…”
“Don’t lie. Tyler said sternly.
Liora hung her head. “Please don’t tell Mommy. It was me.”
Tyler let out a sigh. “I understand why you did it, but you saw what he did today.”
“I know.” Liora was being perfunctory, but she believed that he did it for a reason.
“Next time, can you talk to me before telling him anything?” Tyler asked politely, knowing that being too harsh would make Liora cry all night.
Liora pouted. “Okay, Tyler.”
The following day, Noah entered his office with a serious expression.
The secretaries were terrified by his demeanor. They sent documents to his office and quickly left, fearing Noah might take out his anger on them.
It didn’t take long for someone to arrive.
A secretary whispered, “Is that Mr. De Marco’s older brother?”
“I think so! He made headlines for getting beaten up by Mr. De Marco!”
“I heard he was involved in the incident with Mr. De Marco’s mother, right?”
“Ugh, this guy is awful! How did he become our VP?”
“I don’t want to work for him!”
“Me neither!”
Unaware of their conversation, Casey approached Noah’s office. He knocked twice and heard Noah’s deep volce, “Come in!”
Casey opened the door, and Noah’s expression turned hostile as soon as their eyes met.
Casey closed the door with a slight smile on his face.
Shortly after, he took a seat on the sofa and observed Noah’s office.
“Your office is quite oppressive, just like your style,” Casey remarked, scoffing.
