“With good reason,” he grumbled, drinking more ale, eyeing the vampires in the room.
“I was going to say, have you ever seen something so beautiful?” I finished the sentence myself.
Derik smiled and leaned in. “I have.” He kissed my cheek and if ever there was a definition for swooning, it was me in that moment.
I smiled up at him and pulled him in for a kiss on my lips.
“Time to embarrass the shit out of myself,” Brax grinned, standing up.
I raised a brow as he stepped away from the table.
He went to the platform in the corner and two initiates ran over with a guitar.
Brax strummed a few chords and my body raised in temperature. How could he get even more hot?
“Family! Your entertainment has arrived!” Brax called out and the wolves cheered, clapping and hollering like they were used to this.
I was not.
“I didn’t know Brax could play the guitar,” I said, my eyes fixed on my white wolf.
He winked at me then cleared his throat and started strumming.
It was beautiful.
My heart clenched.
“Wait until you hear his voice,” Derik smiled, watching me.
“Show off,” Kai grumbled.
I chuckled and waited for Brax to start.
He did and my heart clenched again. His voice, it was beautiful. A silky mix of melodies singing about heartache and love.
I smiled, tears prickling at my eyes as I listened. He watched me back, his eyes on me as he sung.
And it wasn’t just me enraptured by the way he said words. His guitar and soulful voice carried his melody through the entire dining hall, leaving everyone in awe.
I thought it couldn’t get better but then Derik kissed my cheek, standing, tugging the lapels of his coat before shedding it from his body.
He smirked and went down to the platform where a piano was rolled on.
I raised a brow as he sat down at it, pressing the keys to Brax’s song.
“Wow,” I breathed.
It was light, fun, and yet so deep.
It made my heart race, my core light with embers that always burned, and I grinned.
Derik’s hands moved across the piano as easily as the way they moved across my body, and Brax’s words whispered over my skin like they were just for me.
“Fuck this,” Kai grumbled, then slammed his goblet down and went over to the stand.
Brax didn’t falter, but his grin was telling.
Derik raised a brow as Kai stood in front of Brax.
Brax stepped to the side, strumming the guitar as Derik kept playing the piano.
Then Brax stopped singing.
Everyone paused with bated breath, and so did I.
I had no idea what was going on, or why everyone was tense.
I figured it out when Kai sung the next part of the song in perfect harmony with Brax and Derik.
His voice was deep, smoky, and perfectly in tune.
It was like a silken caress over my skin, a language only my core knew.
The embers inside became harsh flames that spread fast throughout me.
His voice said words that I was sure were his. Brax supported his voice with his guitar and a soft voice. Derik did too.
I was in love.
I was already in love, I knew that, but listening to the three of them so in sync, so in tune together, it felt like falling all over again.
I swallowed hard and crossed one leg over the other, leaning on a knee so I could hear them better.
If the twins weren’t sleeping upstairs, I bet they would have been as obsessed as I was with them.
And to think, I had been singing the lullabies all this time.
I couldn’t carry a tune to save my life.
Which I guessed they knew since they sounded better than anything I could’ve dreamed up.
Kai stared at me through his dark, thick eyelashes, captivating me with a promise I knew he’d deliver on.
Brax eyed Derik with a smirk then nodded and started playing harder.
Kai followed.
When the song finished, I actually missed their voices the way they sounded together. They had just signed themselves up for a lifetime of song demands from their mate.
They stood together then and everyone cheered. They clapped and hollered louder than before, and I smiled.
I was proud of them, my heart swelling with emotion.
“Kai’s never done that before. Derik and Brax were the only ones who knew he could belt it out like that. He’s always refused to go up there even in the events or feasts like this. You’ve been a good influence on him,” Beenie said, standing next to the Alpha table.
I smiled, still looking at the alphas who were joking with each other, smiling and giving dramatic bows for the pack.
“We’ve been a good influence on each other.”
She smiled then walked away, and Derik called the hall to attention.
“Okay, it’s that time of the night!” Derik announced.
The cheers got louder.
“The winner of the games is–” Kai pointed to the pack. “Drumroll!”
The pack stamped their feet on the floor, their hands on the tables.
“Luna Lorelai!” Brax called out.
Everyone hollered and I grinned, standing up to give a polite curtsey.
Winner or not, it had been fun.
My alphas came through the crowd of celebrating pack to stand in front of the table, in front of me.
I grinned at them. “Hmm, so what is my prize?” I asked, leaning on the table.
Kai stood in the middle, doing that dark delicious look of his.
“The three of us, Little Luna. And damn am I looking forward to you collecting.”
7. The Prize
