I was wary but nodded.
“Alvira. It’s Tabby’s middle name. Speaker of truth and dearly loved.”
I loved it. I grinned and nodded.
“Alvira,” I agreed.
She suckled at my chest, trying to find her first feed, her tiny hands moving against my skin.
Cain healed me, sorting me out under the blanket over my knees as my family cooed over its new addition. Its final addition.
Our fifth heir.
My heart bloomed as I looked at each one of them, the love there making my tears well.
“You have done well, Beautiful,” Derik whispered, leaning over to kiss me on the forehead.
We spent the day with Alvira, all of us getting to know her. The children were beyond excited, telling her every story they had of everything that had ever happened to them.
And it was perfect.
When they had all gone to bed and Alvira was in her cradle, I finally got out of the bed where I had been stuck all day.
Admittedly, the healing had taken a few tries. That darling fifth had done a number on me. But the ache was gone and I was ready to get the birth off me.
Derik was already in the bathroom, filling the tub when I got in there. I smiled at him as he poured some oils into it then adjusted the bouquet he had brought me earlier with Alaric.
I grinned and started undressing.
Brax came up behind me, pulling my dress down for me.
I smiled over my shoulder and kissed him.
“In, Spitfire,” he whispered.
Derik lit candles around the room and I sighed, climbing in the warm water.
We had redone the bathroom, giving us a bigger tub. A square one that fit us all in.
Like the one in the human tunnels.
Brax and Derik climbed in with me and I sighed contentedly between them, my eyes closing.
They massaged me, kissing me, healing me after such a long birthing.
“I mean it. No more,” I warned, leaning against Derik.
He kissed the top of my head.
“No more,” he agreed, and I looked up to see him glaring at Kai.
“But I am grateful for Alvira. Now it feels complete,” I smiled.
Kai moved in front of me, kissing me as Brax relaxed on my other side.
“It does,” he admitted.
We bathed for bed, then curled up on it together, holding each other like we did every night.
The last ten years had been a kind of bliss I had never dared to dream of when I was younger. I had believed being winterborn had robbed me of the kind of future I had. But I was wrong. Being winterborn– the right kind of winterborn had given me everything.
I could have been born a normal wolf who blended into the pack, did everything I was told, mated to another, and probably have been happy.
Or I could have been born a normal human, been picked at the ceremony and married to some guy I would have learned to love.
But I hadn’t been. I had been born Lorelai Valarian. A winterborn. The only one in history who hadn’t gone bad. All because I had broken the rules and taken the three Alphas who had taken me first.
Looking at them, thinking of my five children, I smiled.
I wouldn’t take it back for anything.
They were my Alphas and they had always been mine. Just as I had always been theirs.
Without me, Kai would have become the psycho everyone was afraid of. Derik would have become the tyrant who controlled everything without mercy or waiver.
And Brax would have given in to his shadows.
Without me, I knew that would have been their fates.
I had saved them.
But they had saved me too.
I had been cursed to a life alone, of boredom, of emptiness.
Until they had taken my virginity in that stupid blood moon ceremony.
Something I had thought was archaic and savage, just like them.
I had never been more glad to be wrong.
And if they were savage, then it was with me, in bed.
Exactly where I wanted them.

“Are you sure this is how we are meant to do it?” Brax asked, seeming skeptical.
I nodded once and rapped my knuckles on the wooden door of Pearl’s hut.
“Does she even want it?” Kai grumbled, fidgeting with his shirt I had made him put on.
He had been horrified with the idea of dressing up, but I was determined to make this perfect for our mate.
With that in mind, the others had begrudgingly agreed.
Pearl opened the door, her eyebrows raising as she looked at us.
“Well, don’t you three scrub up well. Would you like some tea?” She asked, giving us one last look before heading inside.
I followed first, “Yes please,” I said, with Nikolai and Braxton following me inside.
I sat at the table as Pearl took off her apron, hanging it up. She grabbed the teapot and started her brew as the other two hung back.
The nerves started to sink inside me and I traced the flowers painted on the tablecloth.
Lorelai said her mother painted but I had never seen much of it. She was good at it.
