“When will I hear news about Lina?” Grace asked, unable to contain her anxiety when it had only been at most half an hour since Jason called someone to check on her best friend’s whereabouts.
She was probably afraid.
Afraid that something had happened to Lina…
She was even thinking about some of the kidnapping case studies she had seen when she was a law student. When the ones kidnapped were young women, nine times out of ten, it would not end up well.
‘No, Lina’s going to be fine. She’ll be all right!’
Grace kept saying to herself, her almond-shaped eyes looking at
Jason so intently that he felt as if he was being stared at by some pitiful small creature.
The pleading and expectation in her eyes were especially clear.
When he saw her like this, he even felt an urge to hold her in his arms. He desperately wanted to wipe the pleading and expectation from her eyes as they were there only because of Lina
Sweeney.
He wanted her to see only him.
“If you really must know, you might as well wait with me. If my people have found Lina Sweeney’s whereabouts, they’ll inform me immediately,” Jason said.
That was certainly no problem for Grace, but… Wait? Where should she wait with him?! Grace blinked and five minutes later, she finally knew where to wait with him.
In Jason’s room!
It was not the first time that she had entered his room, but it was the first time that she entered through the front door of his room rather than through the door which connected their rooms.
Once inside, Jason immediately took off his coat and pulled out a cell phone. He set it aside on a coffee table.
Grace was stunned when she saw the phone. It was the same old phone she had bought him at a special price of 1,500 dollars. Many average people might have better phones than this one.
Did he keep the phone with him all the time?
If he did not, how did she get through to him immediately when she called?
However, before she finished examining the phone, she saw him. continuing to undress.
Grace’s face went red immediately. “Why… Why are you…”
“I’m getting changed, of course.” He raised an eyebrow at her. “You used to watch me change clothes, didn’t you? Is that a problem now?”
She choked. Well, she had seen him change clothes in the rental house, but he was just getting changed out of clothes like sweaters or jackets.
Normally, he would go into the bathroom to change his underclothes.
He was now stripped down to a thin shirt. If he continued to strip… At this point, Grace subconsciously turned her back to Jason.
Out of sight, out of mind. After all, she was now in his room.
Then, she heard some ruffling noises. He was probably taking off his clothes.
She did not know how long it would take him to change. Just as Grace was thinking of this, suddenly a pair of arms wrapped around her body and hugged her from the back.
She instantly fell into a wide embrace as the familiar smell enveloped her.
Grace was shocked. All she could hear was Jason’s elegant voice saying, “Won’t you look at me, Sis?”
“There’s… There’s nothing to see,” she muttered.
“You used to say that I look good and always wanted to see more of me,” Jason said.
Grace wanted to go back in time and bite her tongue off. Why would she say that?
“Are you done changing your clothes?” She digressed.
“Can’t you see for yourself?” he said.
“…” She was speechless for a moment. His hands were on her shoulders, forcing her to turn around.
As she turned to face him, her hand unconsciously touched his chest. Grace got a shock.
He… was naked from the waist up!
“You…” Her face was red, and her eyes were still closed. She did not dare to open them for fear that she would see something she should not see.
“Won’t you open your eyes, Sis?” His breath was fragrant like an orchid, and his murmur sounded like the deepest enchantment.
Grace, however, kept her eyes closed. She was blushing while urging, “Quickly change your clothes!”
“I’d rather you look at me,” he said. “Besides, I did Sis a favor today. Won’t you even look at me, Sis?”
Grace stiffened, and her teeth unconsciously bit her lip. She let out a low cry as she touched the spot where he had bitten her.
She heard his low chuckle in her ear. Then, she felt his fingers stroking her lips. “You know what? You looked so cute just now.”
Cute?
Before she had time to react, she suddenly felt some pressure on her lips. It was soft with a touch of warmth. It was his… lips!
He was kissing her!
Grace immediately opened her eyes and stared at the face before her. They were so close that she could not see his whole face. All she could see was his bright eyes that were like blooming peach blossoms. They were so beautiful they looked like they could capture people’s souls at any time.
“Umm…” She subconsciously wanted to open her mouth and say something, but it only made him kiss her deeper.
Grace accepted the kiss pa**ively while she laid her hands against his chest. Her hands seemed to burn as if they were about to catch fire.
After a while, the kiss was over. Grace panted and blushed.
Jason was calm and even smirking a little. “Is this how I can get you to look at me?”
She choked. What he said carried some serious ambiguity, but she did not know what to say right now.
She was about to close her eyes again when he said, “I’ve helped you and you won’t even look at me?”
She pursed her burning lips. “Get dressed, and I’ll look at you.”
“I like Sis to look at me this way,” he muttered as if he was showing her his good side. “It’s as if I’m the only one in Sis’ eyes.”
Grace stared at the man in front of her. When others had seen a man like him, it might be difficult to see anyone else again.
Now that he was without a jacket, his lean figure was a lot more visible, but the scar on his chest had put her in a trance.
She had seen the scar before when they were in the rented house, but when she asked him about it, he only replied, “It’s just a small injury.”
However, even if the scar had gotten lighter, it looked nothing like a ‘small injury’.
He suddenly took her hand and put it on his scar.
She was shocked, instinctively wanting to withdraw her hand, but his fingers seemed to be made of steel. They gripped her hand, forcing her hand to press on the scar.
“Weren’t you looking at the scar?” he said.
“No… Let go of your hands first,” Grace said quickly.
However, he seemed to turn a deaf ear to her words. He just stared at her and said, “Are you going to hurt me, Sis?”
Her body shuddered as she felt her throat tighten as if some words were stuck in it.
His eyes were fixed on her as if he was going to see through her.
“Is that a difficult question?” After a long silence, he muttered, “It’s all right if you don’t want to answer, but let me remind you…”
He bent slowly while his lips got close to her ear. He whispered, “Never hurt me, all right?”
As long as she did not hurt him, he would praise her to the heavens, love her to the earth, and even protect her, making sure she was happy and safe for the rest of her life.
As long as she did not hurt him!
In the huge room, Grace fidgeted, occasionally checking the clock on her phone and calculating how long it would be before she heard any news about her best friend.
Jason, on the other hand, had changed into a set of casual clothes and was sitting on the sofa, leafing through some professional reports.
Looking at the elegantly seated Jason, Grace could not help but think of the words he had said earlier.
He said that she must never hurt him.
The problem was, she could not hurt him at all! What he said was a little redundant.
Who in Emerald City could hurt a man like him?
More please
Is there a relationship in which you never get hurt?
