Seeing her humble behavior, Paul quickly stopped her. “Don’t wipe it. It’s just a carpet. If it’s d irty, we’ll throw it away.”
Rosalyn’s hand, which was carefully wiping the carpet, paused slightly.
She almost forgot that the person who kindly asked her to get in the car was from the Kingston family.
They wouldn’t care about a carpet, even if it was expensive.
Rosalyn put away the tissue and put it in her bag. She looked at Paul uneasily and whispered, “Thank you.”
Paul waved his hand casually. “Where do you live?”
Without further ado, Rosalyn gave him her address.
The car quickly started and dr ove in the direction of her home.
Rosalyn glanced at Paul, who was sitting in the pa**enger seat.
She felt a little less embarra**ed when she saw him looking out of the window without looking sideways.
She lowered her head with a tissue and silently wiped the rain off her body.
Paul looked at the thin figure in the back seat through the rearview mirror.
She wasn’t wearing a coat on such a cold day and was still out in the rain trying to hail a taxi, which made Paul curious.
“Ms. Bell, why didn’t Mr. Taylor send you back?”
Hearing the words “Mr. Taylor,” Rosalyn frowned in confusion. It took her a long time to realize that she was now Logan’s woman.
She clenched the tissue in her hand and casually made up a lie, “We had an argument, and he just threw me out of the car.”
Paul nodded slightly. “I see.”
He noticed she was shivering from the cold, so he raised the heater and asked no more questions.
The temperature in the car suddenly rose, gradually warming up Rosalyn’s cold and stiff body.
She gave a grateful look to Paul and explained cautiously, “I was originally planning to call a ride-hailing service, but my phone ran out of battery. The nearby stores were closed, and I had nowhere to shelter from the rain, so I stood at the intersection and hailed a taxi. I’m really sorry to trouble you.”
Paul rested his chin on the one hand and looked at the embarra**ed Rosalyn in the rearview mirror. He comforted her gently, “It’s okay.”
Only then did Rosalyn relax. She leaned her head against the car window and closed her eyes wearily.
She was so tired that she soon fell asleep in the warm wind.
Not long after, the car stopped at the gate of the community.
Paul said without looking back, “Ms. Bell, we’re here.”
After waiting a while without a response from the back seat, Paul turned his head back.
His eyes widened slightly when he saw Rosalyn leaning against the car window and sleeping soundly.
This woman was too careless. How dare she sleep in a stranger’s car so easily?
Did she think that he was a good person?
Frowning, Paul gave his a**istant a meaningful look.
The a**istant immediately got up, went to the back seat, opened the door, and pushed Rosalyn
“Ms. Bell, we’ve arrived at your home.”
Rosalyn was pushed awake and struggled to open her eyelids. All she could see were dark shadows, making it difficult to see anything.
She knew that her illness had worsened due to being drenched in the rain, but thankfully her thoughts were still clear, and she remembered that she was in Paul’s car.
She quickly sat up straight, thanked Paul again, then pushed open the door and exited the car.
“Ms. Bell…”
Paul stopped her, took an umbrella from the back seat, and handed it to her. “It’s still raining heavily. Take it.”
Rosalyn saw the logo on the umbrella and knew it was worth tens of thousands of dollars. She was afraid she wouldn’t have the chance to return it to him, so she softly declined, “Thank you, but it’s only a few steps away. I’ll run over there.”
Paul was stunned for a moment. He seemed to have read her mind and thrown the umbrella at her. “You don’t have to return it.”
Rosalyn was in a dilemma, but when she saw that Paul wouldn’t allow her to refuse, she had to accept it.
“Mr. Paul Kingston, please give me your contact information. I’ll find time to give it back to you tomorrow.”
When Paul heard her asking for his contact information, he looked at her with disdain. “Ms. Bell, I don’t like it when people show up uninvited.”
Rosalyn didn’t expect him to misunderstand what she meant, so she quickly explained, “I didn’t mean that. I just think that this umbrella…”
“Ms. Bell.”
Paul interrupted her coldly, his eyes full of warning. “No matter what you mean, I sent you home out of kindness. If you have any other ideas, please stop immediately.”
These words made Rosalyn very uncomfortable. She didn’t say anything more, put down the umbrella, and turned to leave.
After two steps in the rain, she felt dissatisfied and turned to
Paul.
“Mr. Kingston, thank you for sending me home, but you don’t have to look at me like that. I just think that the umbrella you gave me is too expensive. I’m afraid I won’t have a chance to return it to you, so I refused.”
After saying that, Rosalyn turned around and ran into the neighborhood without caring about his expression.
Looking at the petite figure, Paul was a little stunned.
He felt that women like Rosalyn would do everything they could to seduce rich men they met.
Otherwise, she wouldn’t have started dating Logan immediately after breaking up with Andrew.
However, what she had just said made him a little embarra**ed. It seemed that he had misunderstood her too much…
After Rosalyn ran home in the rain, she removed her dress and the diamond necklace around her neck and threw them into the box.
Tomorrow she would send these things back to Logan. His things were too dis gusting, and she would never accept them.
After closing the box, she went to the bathroom, turned on the tap in the bathtub, and lay down.
She held the bath ball and desperately washed her face and back. She rubbed her skin red before looking at herself in the mirror.
After removing her makeup, her face was left with a sickly pallor, devoid of any vitality or energy, and her eyes were dimmed to the point of lifelessness.
She couldn’t see the light, couldn’t feel the warmth.
She was like dirt y and that everyone could step on.
However, she was also a person with dignity…
“Dignity.”
Rosalyn thought to herself with a self-deprecating smile. From the moment she sold herself to Andrew, she had lost her dignity.
She dried her hair and lay down on the bed, extremely tired, and fell deeply asleep again.
After getting drenched in the rain, her condition worsened significantly. She buried her head in sleep until the afternoon of the next day.
Polly had been on duty all night. She slept from morning to afternoon. When she got up and prepared dinner, Rosalyn was still asleep.
