Natalie didn’t know that even as she sat worrying, the Kara Management Group was holding a meeting to talk about company branding. The meeting room was on the top floor of a skyscraper, with big glass windows giving views across the city. The first agenda item on the list for the people in charge of the US domestic market was the selection of a celebrity brand ambassador. This was the most important step for them in entering the US market, so all the higher-ups in the company were attending the meeting too.

One of the directors in charge of operating the US market said, “We can’t just randomly find a star to endorse our breakthrough into the market. We need to specifically target male artists who can quickly increase our popularity.”

The marketing manager nodded her head and said, “Yes, I agree. Personally, I think that Harry Ellington is not a bad choice.”

The director said, “Harry Ellington is fine, but we have to remember, of course, that the first-tier male celebrities are already contracted to other companies. We can only take a step back and look for second-tier male celebrities.”

The marketing manager thought for a moment before speaking to the assistant beside her, saying, “Jimmy, go and check out the information on the second-tier male artists. See if there are any suitable celebrities.”

Jimmy left, and after a while, he returned with a laptop and projected the material he’d gathered onto the screen. He introduced all the potential celebrities that were suitable for promoting the company’s cosmetics products. The marketing manager was a fan of Curtis Westing. Another person shook their head, “I don’t think so. The vibe Curtis Westing gives off doesn’t seem to be in line with Jill Malanowski’s temperament.”

The situation was in a deadlock again. Everyone had their own candidates, but there was no consensus. None of the candidates seemed to have the right combination of temperament and looks. The director didn’t say anything; he just looked quietly at his phone the whole time. Then he exclaimed, “What do you guys think of this guy?”

Everyone looked at the phone in the director’s hands. On the screen were the workout photos of Tony that Natalie had taken. The group was impressed. Someone said, “His looks are good, but I wonder what his reputation is like. What’s his public profile?”

Jimmy called out Tony’s details and career history. The people sitting there could tell that Tony was just an unknown minor artist, and they felt disappointed.

The marketing manager said, “I think we should forget about him. His popularity level doesn’t meet our requirements.”

Someone else said, “But I heard he recently bagged a role in a movie and has done quite a few advertisements, so he’s quite popular on social media.”

The marketing manager retorted, “Social media fame is only temporary. For a true celebrity, what I’m looking for is traffic and fame.”

The discussion went out of control again, looping around. This time, the voices of opposition to Tony were much louder than those in support. No one dared to take the risk and let a small artist speak for the company. If the results weren’t good, they would lose their own share of dividends.

Finally, the senior director, who had been sitting at the head of the table, Shirley Ross, suddenly glanced at everyone. Her eyes were filled with dignity, and she gradually silenced the hubbub. Shirley was a veteran in the industry, so her words carried a lot of weight.

Shirley said, “Let me say a few words. This Tony Bovel is at Star Entertainment, and Star, as you may not know, is owned by Claire Group.”

Shirley thought for a moment before saying, “Let’s assume that if this Tony Bovel becomes really popular within half a year, then his price will double. So why don’t we sign him now while he’s still relatively cheap? After all, there is still some time before the date for the commercial shoot.”

Some people expressed doubts about the risks of doing this and about the threat to the company’s reputation if the move didn’t work out. But Shirley smiled confidently. She said, “In all the years our company has been developing, when has there ever been a time when we didn’t take risks? But the fact is we’ve always succeeded, right?”

Her eyes scanned the crowd one by one, and she said, “If something negative happens, I will take full responsibility.”

No one else had anything to say. The matter was decided, and the meeting ended.
