Daniella noticed her abruptness and blushed. “I’m sorry. Thank you so much for your help earlier. Would it be alright if I treated you to lunch to show my gratitude?‘
“Sure.”
They selected a fancy restaurant.
Once they were seated, Daniella handed her business card to the man. “Here’s my card. I’m
Daniella Love.”
He accepted her card with a faint smile. “Ah, you’re the chairwoman of YN, the newly–founded company.”
“It’s nothing special,” Daniella replied, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear. “May I know your name?”
“I am Casey De Marco.”
‘Casey… De Marco? Daniella was taken aback. ‘Noah’s older brother, Casey?”
She recalled her grandfather mentioning Casey once in the past.
When Casey noticed Daniella’s shocked expression, a hint of contempt briefly crossed his seemingly friendly eyes.
“Is something wrong, Ms. Love?” Casey asked.
“No, it’s just… a coincidence,” Daniella said, snapping back to reality.
Meanwhile, River was in a meeting with the sales and planning departments at TYC.
The sales manager reported, “Our sales revenue has exceeded 100,000,000 dollars since the launch of our new product, Ms. Healy. We’ll soon initiate the second wave of pre–orders.”
River nodded “Understood. Maintain customer communication after sales. Have we finalized the storefront location?”
“Yes, Ms. Healy. We’ll email the details for your review,” replied the planning department manager.
“Good. Focus on model selection, and if possible, close the deal by next week…”
As River finished speaking, her phone vibrated on the table. She noticed Naomi’s name and answered. “Hello-”
River’s voice was interrupted by terrifying screams and chaotic footsteps on the call.
For a moment, her body froze, and she checked her watch. “Naomi should be at the factory right now. Has something gone wrong there?‘ she wondered.
However, before she could voice her thoughts, Naomi urgently said, “Ms. Healy! There’s a fire at the factory! The workers are evacuating, and the firefighters are on their way.”
River’s face turned pale. “What?”
“The factory is on fire, and we don’t know the cause yet!”
River jumped to her feet. “I’m on my way!”
River arrived at the factory an hour later, where the fire was nearly extinguished. The once- organized facility now resembled a wasteland.
Her bodyguard rushed to her side. “Are you okay, Ms Healy?”
River steadied herself and stammered, “I–I’m fine.”
Naomi approached, her hair partly burnt and her face smudged with ash
“Ms. Healy, all the imported fabrics have been destroyed. I tried calling the VP, but his phone is off,” Naomi said.
“Contacting Kenny won’t help now! River furrowed her brow and struggled to stay composed.
How are the workers?”
“We’ve sent the injured ones to the hospital.”
“You’ve handled that well. Ensure proper follow–up support for the workers and their families. Have the lawyer discuss compensation for the injured workers. Don’t offer meager bereavement compensation. Treat the workers fairly, even those with minor injuries.
“Once the negotiations conclude, have them sign the compensation agreement. Also, make sure the temporarily unemployed workers receive adequate daily living expenses.”
Naomi looked surprised. “Ms. Healy, this will cost a significant amount.”
“So what?”
River felt her heart break at the sight of workers sitting on the floor, shocked by the factory fire.
“They need time to recover, and finding new jobs won’t be easy after this,” River said.
Naomi nodded in agreement.
River took action, directing her bodyguards to assist injured workers to the nearby hospital and preventing journalists from documenting the incident. She stayed with the injured workers, discussing compensation.
At MK.
Reuben burst into Noah’s office
“Mr. De Marco, Ms. Healy’s company is facing a crisis!” Reuben placed a tablet in front of Noah, showing a video of the factory fire.
Noah’s expression turned grave as he watched the fierce fire and thick black smoke in the sky.
“What’s the situation?” he asked.
“We don’t know the fire’s cause yet, but the injured workers have been taken to the hospital. Ms.
Healy is handling it well,” Reuben replied.
Noah’s furrowed brows finally relaxed. He had forgotten that he had trained her for three years.
She was capable of finding the best solution to any unexpected situation.
Noah instructed Reuben, “Contact the city police and prioritize the fire investigation.”
“Do you think this was intentional, Mr. De Marco?” Reuben asked.
“What do you think? It’s hard not to suspect foul play when a newly established company creates such a huge stir so easily,” Noah replied.
Reuben glanced at YN next to TYC and suggested, “Perhaps someone wants to take the lead?”
Noah knew who Reuben was referring to. “We can’t let them off easily.”
Reuben grinned and remarked, “You still care about Ms. Healy, Mr. De Marco.”
Noah gave Reuben a stern look. “You talk too much.”
Stunned, Reuben grabbed the tablet and said, “I have some other matters to attend to. I’ll head back to my office now!”
As Reuben hastily left. Noah gazed at TYC through his floor–to–ceiling window. He wondered if
River had the financial resources to handle the current situation. She would need funds for worker compensation, fulfilling orders from numerous customers, and rebuilding the clothing factory.
How will she manage the financial aspect?‘ he pondered.
At night, at De Marco Residence
The three children were worried when they heard about the factory accident.
Tyler clenched his fists. “Someone is definitely targeting Mommy!”
Liora’s eyes welled up with tears “I want to go home to be with Mommy. She must be really sad”
Axel explained, “Mommy can’t go home right now as she has too much to handle.”
“What can we do then?” Liora sobbed “Will Mommy get sick from being so busy?”
Tyler gently patted Liora’s head. “Don’t cry. The best way we can help Mommy right now is to find the person responsible for this.”
Liora looked at Axel. “Axel.”
“Don’t worry.” Axel forced a smile to comfort Liora. “I’ll check the surveillance footage.”
At Xander Residence
Daniella watched the fire video and said, “You did a good job.”
A female voice on the call asked, “Is there anything else I should do?”
Daniella replied, “This strike will keep River occupied for a while. We can proceed with our next steps slowly. There’s no need to rush.”
“Noted,” said the woman
“Be careful and avoid getting caught,‘ Daniella reminded casually.
“I know my limits, replied the woman before ending the call
Daniella threw the phone onto the table, clearly frustrated.
It’s just a simple reminder. If you’re caught, it’s not my concern.‘ she thought
As long as River didn’t gain control over her, Daniella had no interest in others‘ survival. She had her own tasks ahead.
‘Casey… She blushed at the thought of Casey.
He was much better than Noah Despite Casey being over 40 years old, he was on par with male celebrities!
She would stop caring about Noah if she could earn Casey’s favor. She knew Draco favored his oldest son, too. Also, teaming up with Casey would make beating River a breeze.
Daniella laughed with excitement as she scrolled through TYC related posts
Suddenly, one post captured Daniella’s attention.
[Holy cow! TYC’s female owner is actually my uncle’s daughter! She has struck gold!]
“Uncle? Confusion shadowed Daniella’s face. ‘Could that be related to River’s father’s family?
Daniella smirked, thinking. This is becoming more intriguing!‘
ALTYC.
River sat in her office, exhausted from the grilling interrogation and interviews.
The customer service department was overwhelmed with refund requests and customer complaints in a short span.
The online community made some nasty remarks about TYC’s clothing factory and its fire safety system.
Meanwhile, some netizens questioned the quality of TYC’s clothing, urging past customers to inspect their purchases.
River struggled to catch her breath amid the overwhelming turmoil.
Suddenly, someone knocked on the door.
River looked up, her voice hoarse, “Come in.”
