Filed to story: Offered to the Lycan King Novel by Misha K (River & Hunter)
The entire team consisting of the werewolves of the Crescent pack and Lycans of the Dark Moon pack, combed all the area around the pack’s territory, but there was nothing that could point them to the direction of Hawk. At 6 AM in the morning of the next day, Falcon joined them along with five of his best warriors. Falcon was well versed with all the caves of the forest, so he searched for Hawk in every cave that was present, but they were met with failure.
They all returned to the Crescent pack with defeat on their faces. There was seriousness in the air in the pack. Everyb*ody whispered and speculated as to where Hawk would be. Some even worried whether he was alive or not. That thought cut his soul like a sharp edged sword.
When the pack members saw the demons walking amidst the shapeshifters, they were scared. Most of the children hid in their homes as some women even shrieked out of pure terror. Demons were taller and bulkier than the Lycans. Their sharp pointed teeth were such that they protruded out of the jaws and that made them look like savages. It was h*ard to believe that until a year back these demons would eat everything that could get their h*ands on.
Falcon rolled his eyes when the familiar feeling of being unwanted by others washed over him. He had undergone this scenario so many times but it still affected him. He was happy and grateful that Alpha Hunter had created an entirely different city for him and his people.
Hunter realized what Falcon was going through, so he went to Falcon’s side and walked with him all the way back to the castle. It was to give reassurance to Falcon that he was with him. Falcon felt better and proud to be in Hunter’s company. Hunter treated him like an Alpha should treat an Alpha. It only increased his respect for the Lycan king.
When they reached the house, Hunter rushed to his room to meet River as everyone else was ushered to their guest rooms. River was still in shock. She had refused to eat and refused to part with Arthur.
“Baby?” Hunter came to sit next to her. He curled his arms around her shoulders and buried his head in her hair. Tears ran out of his eyes, seeing her situation. Goddess had made him the luckiest Lycan in the world to give him a mate like River and pups as beautiful as Arthur and Hawk and he couldn’t even protect them. “It will be fine…” she muttered. “It will all be fine…”
And Hunter let out a muffled sob. River was refusing to come out of her numbness. Between his sobs he whispered, “I promise that I will find Hawk. And I won’t rest until I have found him.”
“It will be fine…” she mumbled. “It will all be fine…”
Faria had come from the Dark Moon pack to be with River. Although she didn’t have any luck, she was trying her best to feed River. She came into the room with a tray of food. Hunter wiped his tears as he shook his head. Then he rose to his feet and went to the bathroom. Faria placed the tray in front of River who was with Arthur who was sleeping in her arms.
“Can I take the baby?” Faria asked in a low voice.
No response.
Faria blinked away the tears in her eyes. “Luna River,” she said. “If you won’t eat, how will you feed Arthur? He needs your milk in order to stay strong. You have to eat good and healthy for Arthur.” No response.
River continued to stare in the blank space in front of her, oblivious of people around her. Only Arthur was her possession. If this continued, she could become moon crazy.
Faria carved a forkful of pancake from the plate, dipped it in the maple syrup and put it in front of her m*outh. “Please Luna River, have something.”
“It will be fine…” she muttered, continuing to stare in the blank space.
Faria stifled a sob and got up, unable to see the pain in River’s eyes. She slapped her h*ands on her m*outh and rushed out of the room, tears flooding from her eyes. She had never seen River in such a condition.
When Hunter came out, he saw the food lying unt*ouched in front of River. He knew that she had lost her appetite because even he had lost it. He came to sit by her side and said, “River, you must eat something baby. You have to feed Arthur.”
There was no response as she didn’t avert her gaze from the blank.
Hunter sighed and got up. He called the nurse who was looking after River and went down to talk to his men. Elijah was on the phone as Lena was standing with him. He had a wild expression in his eyes as he listened to the other person on the side. In the meantime, Asher came to him and h*anded him a folder. “This came for you in the morning,” he said.
Hunter furrowed his brows as he looked at the sealed envelope. It had no address. With his heart thudding in his c*hest, he suspected that it was a ransom letter. He opened it and pulled out a few photographs and a note. The photos were of River and him with the pups in their arms on their birthday in the Crescent pack. His breath whooshed out of the lungs as goosebumps lined his skin. Someone was watching them. He opened the folded note.
— You won’t find Hawk here. Come to the human world.
That message was enough to send dread down his spine. His face became ashen. The kidnapper had taken Hawk to the human world. It meant that when he had to find his son, he wouldn’t be able to shift in his Lycan or for that matter none of his men would be able to shift because that was against the treaty. He whipped his head towards Elijah who had ended the conversation. “Who was it?” he asked, his voice a hoarse whisper.
“The kidnapper,” Elijah replied. “But he wasn’t speaking in his voice. He used a voice modulator.” Hunter was in front of Elijah the next moment. “What was he saying? Why didn’t you give me the phone?”
“He said to wait for his next call and he said-’’ Elijah clenched his jaws and looked away.
“Elijah, don’t test my patience!” Hunter growled.
“He said that River is responsible for this situation. She will be punished!”
Hunter narrowed his eyes because for a moment he couldn’t understand who the hell it was who knew River so well that he wanted to punish her. “How can you be so sure that it was a ‘he’ and not ‘she’?” Hunter said to Elijah. “You said that the person was using a voice modulator.”
Elijah shrugged. “I am not sure. It’s just my speculation because the voice sounded like that of a man after modulation.”
“But who the f*uck it can be?” Asher remarked.
Lena had come in by then. She looked like she hadn’t winked an eye and guilt weighed upon her heavily. She was the Beta of the pack and never ever had such an incident occurred ever since she had become the Beta. It was as if the whole thing was planned very nicely. “Why do I feel that someone from the inside was involved in it?” she muttered, her uncomfortable glance going to Hunter.
“Then round up all of them!” Hunter growled. “I want each and every person out hereto be interrogated. Do not leave a single omega!”
