Mink went to her home. Both her omega parents were not at home as they both worked in the Alpha’s house. Her mother used to work in the kitchen while her father was a gardener.
She rushed to her room and searched everywhere for the balloons that she had to use to kidnap Arthur. Strangely, they weren’t there. She even searched her parents’ room but they weren’t anywhere to be found. She panicked. At the end of her search, she stood in the center of the main room with her h*and on her waist and the other on her forehead. Little beads of sweat trickled down her temple. Who could have taken her balloons?
However, now she had a new task at h*and. Shoving the panic and the thought that someone had discovered the balloons which was not even a distant possibility, she had to make new ones. Mink rushed to the market where she bought a packet and then came back to her room. She poured liquid in them and prepared five. The liquid would turn into misty gas the moment she punctured them. Content with them, she stashed them in her satchel carefully and went back to the Alpha’s house.
“You are late!” Faria said to her. “Alpha River has gone to the bathroom. Go and get her medicines. Once you are back, I will go and fetch the porridge for her.”
Mink was p*anting when she entered the room. She gritted and snapped, “I am only ten minutes late, Faria! I told you I feel that my heats are about to come. I am having cramps and it is painful!”
Faria narrowed her eyes. She stood akimbo. “Then why is it that none of the male werewolves are loitering around this room after smelling you? And why is it that even I can’t smell it?”
Mink stilled for a moment. Then she quickly added, “I am yet to get my blood.”
“Who is talking about your blood? I am talking about your pheromones. You should be smelling like nectar to the honey bees,” she remarked, narrowing her gaze that was filled with suspicion.
Mink bit her bottom l*ip. She had to say something to Faria or else she would doubt. She was going to k*ill her if not River Alpha for trying to become James Bond. “How would I know?” she shrugged and spun to go to the closet to keep her satchel. This time she placed it very carefully over a few clothes. Then she turned and went downstairs to fetch boiled water with herbs. When she returned, she saw that River was already in the bed along with Arthur and feeding him. Faria was as usual fussing around her. When River and Faria were not looking at her, she poked her t*ongue out. Soon these people will be dead and her lover would take up the position of the Alpha of the pack. Although her lover had asked her to only bring Arthur, Mink had much elaborate plans. She was going to k*ill River also. Once River died, her husband and mate, Alpha Hunter, the great Lycan king, would follow her to the Fade. And that meant that she would also rule the Dark Moon pack which was the strongest pack.
She chuckled in glee as her plans seemed to fruit in her dreams. She stared at River with hatred in her eyes. Faria went to the kitchen to get food for River. Mink poured the herb water in a glass and brought it to River along with her medicine. River refused to take it, looking at her son while feeding him. She caressed his hair softly. “It will all be fine…” she murmured softly.
Mink was getting impatient. “Yes, yes!” she drawled. “It will all be fine, you stupid woman! Just bloody take your medicine!” She felt like slapping River, but she controlled her temper and held the medicine in front of River’s m*outh. “Either you take it or I give it to you forcefully.” She had mixed a drug in the herb water so that River would let her guards down, just in case. “What a pathetic Alpha you are! You couldn’t even stomach your pup’s kidnapping. You are so weak that you don’t deserve this position. You should be k*illed and thrown away. Why are pack members bearing you?”
River didn’t reply and she continued to look at her son who was again about to sleep. Mink threw the medicine on her face and then threw the herb water in a vase. This was the time she was going to use her balloons. She went to check the guard and saw that the security was still standing there. She checked her watch. In two minutes the security would change. She rushed to her satchel and dug her h*ands inside to get the balloons.
They were still lying there safely. She chuckled and picked them out. She hurried to where River was and punctured each and every one of them right next to her bed. They broke, spilling the liquid. Mink waited with a gleam in her eyes for the mist to form, her eyes fixed on Arthur who was now sleeping peacefully. Good. Because now she didn’t have to use the drug. She put her h*and into her skirt’s pocket to take the sharp knife out. Her gaze went to River’s n*eck. It would be so easy to s*lit her t*hroat now.
She waited and waited for the liquid to turn gas but nothing happened. She saw the liquid trickling down River’s bed and then… nothing. Panicked as hell, she bent down and crawled to where the liquid was flowing. She t*ouched it and smelled it. Her eyes were wide with dread when she realized that it was just… water. Terror blasted in her c*hest. She crawled a little more under the bed to check the liquid, unable to believe that she had created this blunder. But how was it possible? She clearly remembered to pour the chemical in the balloons. Her limbs started shaking. All her dreams shattered. What if- She had to run away from here. She crawled back and was about to get up when Faria came from behind.
“Are you looking for these?” Faria asked, showing her the five balloons that she had prepared at home.
Mink blanched. She darted a nervous gaze at Faria and then at the balloons. “What are those?” she asked in a low, uncertain voice.
Faria shrugged. “I don’t know. You tell me what these are?”
Mink l*icked her dry l*ips. “I- I have no idea!” She rose slowly on her feet as her h*and reached her skirt’s pocket to retrieve the sharp knife she had. If need be, she had to k*ill Faria and then run away with Arthur. To hell with River. Faria c*ocked her head. “Really?” She put the balloons on the couch behind her. “These came out of your bag and you don’t know what are these? Should I call your mother and father and ask them?”
“What?” Mink snapped out of nervousness. She didn’t want her parents to get into it. She hadn’t even told them. “Why would you call my parents on something which is this stupid? I have nothing to do with these balloons. In fact,” Mink changed her strategy on an afterthought. “I think these are yours.”
Faria jerked her head back.
“Yes, these are yours and you are trying to blame me. Why would I get balloons? I am not a child and there is no festivity going around. This is your deed. You have brought them here to plant me in a fake case because you want to throw me out!” She was still wondering when Faria detected them and had the chance to change them. Also did this mean that Faria knew about her plan?
“You are not clever Mink,” Faria chuckled. “But you are the biggest fool.” She pointed with her chin behind her. “Why do I see shells of those balloons in front of Luna River’s bed?”
Mink’s m*outh dropped as her stomach was knotted in a thousand knots. Her lie was detected. Faria had caught her. In the next moment, Mink took out her knife and swung it at Faria. Faria ducked down and shouted, “Guards!” The door of the room opened with a bang. Mink whipped her head to see guards pouring in the room. They pointed guns at her. “Drop your knife!” Mink rushed to the window because that was her last chance to run. She jumped through the glass window, shattering the glass in the wake. Her skin was pierced with thin and sharp sh*ards of glass but she wasn’t worried. She would heal up but she had to run away. However, the moment she jumped out, she fell in a net. The net was quickly rolling around her to trap her. She swayed her knife around the net, but she couldn’t do a thing because the net was made from solid metal. “Leave me!” she shouted. “Leave me!” She was aghast that she had fallen into a trap, that her perfect plan had foiled so fast.
A large figure loomed in the periphery of her vision as she lay on the ground, rolled in a net. “You are going to pay badly for it, Mink,” the man said. And then he booted her with foot. Stars danced in her vision as pain blasted through her l*egs. She heard her bones cracking before she passed out.
