Jade’s expression shifted between shock and anger. “Why would I give the wrong address?”
Gregory took the note from Jade and asked a passerby, “Miss, is this 264 Cantonment Street?”
The female passerby confirmed, “Yes, this is the renowned neuropsychiatric hospital in Novamere, known for treating severe mental illnesses!”
The Healys were left dumbfounded.
“It’s clear the man tricked us into coming here to question our sanity! Mom, he played us!” Brandon realized it first.
Jade was exasperated. “I never expected him to be a scam artist!”
Brandon said provocatively. “This is River’s fault. No wonder she was so pleased earlier. She’s a bitch! Fuck, we won’t stand for her behavior!”
Jade shouted, “Who said I’m putting up with her? Wait and see how I deal with her later!”
“How are you going to handle her?” Gregory asked, bewildered.
Jade declared, “Let’s go! We’re going to spend her money since she bullied us! Aren’t there many luxury stores in the city? We’re going shopping too! Let’s get some Gachi!”
Brandon was puzzled. “What’s Gachi?”
Jade leered at Brandon. “You ignorant child! You’ll find out soon enough!”
The Healys hailed a taxi to a luxury shopping mall.
Jade wandered the mall and found the luxury brand she sought. She pointed to the sign and said, This is Gachi! I’ve seen rich people on TV wearing it!”
Brandon’s lips twitched “Mom, it’s Gucci” 1
Jade remained undeterred. “Ah, Gucci, right? We’re getting it today, no matter what!”
She entered the store and proclaimed, I’m buying Gucci!”
The sales attendant hesitated momentarily, observing the Healys, and then approached them professionally. “Hello, Madam. Which model would you like to purchase?”
Jade copied Brandon’s pronunciation and exclaimed, “I want to buy Gucci! Gucci!”
The sales attendant, Laura Garcia, said, ‘Hello, Welcome to Gucci’s official flagship store. Which particular model are you interested in?”
“Can’t you get what I mean? I don’t need a specific model, just Gucci! Gucci!”
Laura’s expression momentarily stiffened before she explained patiently, “Madam, every bag we have here is a Gucci. This is the official Gucci flagship store. Could you let me know which bag style you have in mind?”
Jade was frustrated. “Can’t you grasp my words? Son, talk to her. I can’t deal with this!”
Brandon wandered through the store and pointed at a few models with the highest numbers, saying. “This one, this one… and this one. We’ll take one of cach!”
Laura smiled. “Certainly!”
After fetching the bags and packaging them, Laura turned to Brandon. “The total comes to 181,713 dollars. Will you be paying by card or digital wallet?”
“Neither. Just send the bill to Ms. Healy, the owner of TYC. I’m her cousin‘” Brandon explained.
Laura’s eyes brightened. “Are you referring to Ms. Rivella Healy, TYC Fashion’s CEO?”
Brandon’s patience was thinning. “Yes, exactly! Haven’t you seen my Facebook post?”
Laura felt relieved upon hearing about TYC and nodded. “Yes, I’m aware.”
Thirty minutes later, the Healys finished their bag shopping and continued exploring the mall, charging everything to River.
The Healys then returned home to Bayview, laden with bags of various sizes.
River was still at work in her office with her children when Naomi entered, carrying a stack of bills which she placed on River’s desk. “Ms. Healy, these invoices are from Lucremall
International.”
River frowned and reviewed the invoices. She quickly understood the situation upon seeing the luxury store names. No one but the Healys would do something like that.
“How much is the total?‘ River inquired.
“It’s a little over 2,180,000 dollars. Ms. Healy, their actions have gone too far. Are you sure you
River examined the invoices and replied casually, “No hurry. I have a plan for dealing with this when the time is right”
Naomi nodded. “Understood. We’ve established a connection with the fabric factory recommended by the VP and are arranging to ship the goods back tomorrow.”
River fell silent momentarily before asking, “Still no news from Kenny?”
Naomi answered, “No, he’s still unreachable.”
River sighed and put down the invoices, a bitter smile on her face. “Take a seat, Naomi. Let’s talk.”
Naomi sat down. “Of course, Ms. Healy.”
River expressed with a hint of sadness, “Have you ever been betrayed by someone
Naomi replied, “No, I tend to keep to myself.”
River chuckled. “Well, you’re lucky not to have experienced this heart–wrenching feeling.”
Tears welled up in River’s eyes as she continued. “You saved my life, and I consider you a friend, Naomi. Honestly, tell me, what would you do in my shoes?”
Naomi remained composed. “I’m sorry, Ms. Healy I can’t answer that question.”
“Imagine you were in my position,” River urged.
“I can’t put myself there.”
“You’re straightforward ”
“Yes.”
– River sighed. “Never mind. I won’t make things hard for you. I’ll arrange for the money. Please help me settle the bills.”
Naomi stood up. “Of course.”
At Villa Rosa.
Noah summoned Reuben to inquire if he had information about the family seen with River today.
Reuben reported, “I’ve found it, Mr. De Marco. That woman is Ms. Healy’s adoptive father’s sister. Their interaction had been minimal, and she would only contact Bradley for money. Her motive for visiting Ms. Healy this time is crystal clear. It’s all about the money. We tried to determine the exact amount they’re after, but they haven’t specified it yet.”
Noah narrowed his eyes and gripped the seat handle. In a deep voice, he said, “It’s like an endless pit‘
“Exactly. These types are generally driven by greed. Initially, Ms. Healy wanted to take action, but they resorted to threats.”
Noah scoffed. “Threats? All they want is to expose River’s ungrateful behavior to the media.”
“Yes, and here’s the kicker. They’ve already spent over 2,000,000 dollars of Ms. Healy’s money. this afternoon, but it was all at MK’s mall.”
Noah’s expression turned icy. “They must think money grows on trees for her.”
Noting Noah’s concern for River, Reuben added, “Indeed, Mr. De Marco. No matter how wealthy she is, she can’t sustain this extravagant spending.”
Noah inquired, “How are things with Kenny? Is he still not back here yet?”
“No, sir. He hasn’t left the villa for three days. Ms. Healy and her people haven’t managed to connect with him yet.”
Noah looked suspicious. “Find out who owns that villa.”
“Absolutely, sir. Anything else?”
. Reuben sensed Noah had more to say. After all, he couldn’t stand idly by while River was being mistreated.
Noah continued. “Reach out to the fabric factory working with River’s company. I’ll cover a portion of the expenses. Additionally, send someone to inspect the fabric quality and find a way to deliver the materials list to River.”
Reuben was taken aback by the significant cost involved. Still, he understood that River wouldn’t accept Noah’s offer to cover everything. Thus, the current solution was the most suitable.
He replied, “Certainly, sir.”
River was jolted awake by a midnight call from the Ylesir fabric factory.
The caller instructed her to check her email because they had adjusted the transaction amount.
River, still half–asleep, inquired in fluent Ylesirese, “Have the fabric prices increased?”
“No, Ms. Healy, we’re actually offering you a discount.”
River opened the email and was alarmed to find that the transaction amount had been halved I want the original fabric. Please tell me you haven’t altered the order without my consent.”
The caller chuckled, “You’re overthinking it. Our factory prioritizes integrity. You can inspect the product upon delivery.”
River said, “If the fabric is defective, returning it will delay my customer’s orders.”
“Don’t worry. We never alter a client’s order without permission. I have other matters to attend to.
Goodbye, Ms. Healy.”
The caller hung up abruptly.
River stared at the reduced transaction amount in bewilderment. Could Kenny be secretly.helping me? Why else would the fabric factory give me such a substantial, unexplained discount?
