When Hunter threw the folder on the ground, Hector took a deep breath in. All his dreams had come true. He stared at the folder for a while as everyone became still. No one made a single movement and even if a cricket would have sneezed, they would have heard it.
Very slowly, in calculated steps and motion, Hector went forward and picked up the documents from the ground. He began flipping the pages just to make sure that everything was correct. All at once he heard a muffled shot and then a blood curdling shriek. He turned behind sharply only to see that Canna was sitting on the ground with her h*and soaked in blood. She was screaming in pain, looking at her h*and from where her thumb was missing. Before she could pick up the next h*and to press the trigger of the dynamites, a bullet was shot through her h*and and now she was knelt on the ground, crippled. She snapped her head to see where it had come from and realized that it was none other than the Beta of the Crescent pack, Lena who had fired. She was surprised at the precision with which Lena fired.
Lena had aimed at her thumb that was threatening to press the trigger. With it gone, Canna would be shocked, surprised and in so much pain that before she could swing in action, Lena shot another bullet that went straight through the center of other h*and.
Hawk was with her in the carrier bag, crying loudly.
“Noooo!” Hector rushed to Canna but a few more shots were fired. “Ahhh!” He fell on the ground as bullets hit his ankle. Excruciating pain blasted in his body. He started crawling towards Canna to get control of the dynamites. Hunter came and kicked on his feet. Hector shrieked in pain as he looked with complete shock towards Hunter. Hunter was glaring at him with such intensity with his gun pointed at him that if looks were dagger than Hector would have died by now. “I am going to make sure that you rot in hell for your life,” Hunter growled. “And I am going to create hell for you on this earth!”
“Cannaaaa!” Hector shouted through whatever little energy he had. “K*ill the little bastard!”
Canna was lying in pain behind him with both h*ands crippled. She had to make the blast happen. She pushed up her knees to her belly despite all the pain to reach the trigger, but someone booted her with their foot on her knees so h*ard that they fractured and she shrieked in more pain. When she looked up, she saw that it was Lena, the Beta of the Crescent pack. Now Canna couldn’t move at all. She knew that it would take at least a day of two for her to recover.
Falcon rushed to pin Canna on both the sides and Lena unstrapped Hawk. Two more Crescent Moon warriors came and they removed her jacket that was loaded with dynamite. They grabbed her by her collar and dragged her away. Muffled shots were heard and a hair-raising scream. Canna was shot dead at point blank range.
Lena rushed to Hunter with Hawk. Hunter took his pup and peppered k*isses on him. “Dada!” Hawk chirped as he too snuggled in his father’s c*hest.
“I missed you, Hawk,” Hunter said, as tears stung behind his eyes. “Your mom missed you more.”
“Dada!” Hawk said and rubbed his snotty nose on Hunter’s shirt. Hawk was looking thinner and dirty. Hunter’s fury rose higher. When he glared at Hector, he said, “You are going in for so long f*ucker!”
His plans gone awry Hector moved to his next plan. He shouted, “Rookkkkyy!”
Elijah looked up at the treehouse and raised an eyebrow. When Rooky emerged from it, his h*and was high up in the air with a remote.
Hector started laughing even though there was a lot of pain in his body. “You know what I am going to do now?” he said, his gaze filled with loath at Hunter.
“Yes, I know what you are going to do now,” Hunter growled. “You are going to crawl for the rest of your life and beg me to k*ill you. But I won’t!”
Hector laughed mockingly. “Beg you? I would rather see you and all of the Crescent pack suffering! That b*itch wife of yours couldn’t deal with one rejection and came back to claim what rightfully belonged to me. I am going to bury her in that Crescent pack of hers with the people she claims are hers. Won’t that be a beautiful ending?” He turned his face up at Rooky who was still on the porch of the treehouse.
Rooky pressed a button on the remote.
Hector said, “Now watch, Hunter. There will be an explosion and all of it will crumble to dust!”
Hunter raised his eyebrow. Asher came to him and gave him some fuses. Hunter threw those fuses at Hector and scoffed, “Are you talking about these?”
Hunter’s eyes went wide with pure shock. The fuses that were in front of him belonged to bombs he had made Rooky plant all across the Crescent pack. He had the remote in his h*and which was the power he had over the pack members, but how was it that it all went down so soon? He had worked so carefully and so h*ard over the last two years to give shape to his plan, but it took a day or two for Hunter to uncover his sheer h*ard work. “How?” he asked, his b*ody shaking with pure terror.
Hunter’s eyes glowered. “Don’t ask me how, Hector, because you will have plenty of time to think about it in the dungeons of the Demon City.”
“What?” Hector shouted. “No!” His eyes snapped at Falcon who was now towering above him.
Falcon clenched his fist. With a growl he swung it and as it connected with Hector’s face, a bone crushing sound echoed. Hector saw stars in his vision and passed out. Falcon glared at him and then looked at Hunter. “Alpha Hunter,” he said, “I will be taking your leave.”
Hunter couldn’t take his eyes off the wolf who had been his worst nightmare. He was bereft of words. When Hawk moved in his arms, he dropped the gun and hugged him t*ightly. “Hawk, my pup,” he whispered. It was as if he was dreaming and he wanted to be sure of the reality that his pup was with him again. When he looked up, he saw that Hector was being tied by Falcon’s men in ropes. “What are you going to do with him, Falcon?” Hunter asked. Through his clenched teeth, Falcon hissed, “I will create your hell for him!”
Hunter gave a t*ight nod to Falcon as his approval. He was fed up with Hector and all the problems that they had undergone because of him and his father. He didn’t want to see him again in his life. If Falcon hadn’t offered him to take Hector, he would have probably k*illed him. He was unsure how River would have reacted. Hector was the last person he wanted River to see. “Then take him and make him suffer every day. Don’t let him shift but! I want you to k*ill his wolf, and make him a shell.”
“I will do that and then some more,” Falcon growled. He looked up at Rooky who had pissed in p*ants seeing two demons coming up for him. “What about that one?”
Hunter narrowed his eyes on Rooky. He looked at Elijah. Elijah nodded once and aimed his gun at Rooky. “No! No!” Rooky started shivering. “It wasn’t my plan. It was Hector who made me do it!” He started crying. “He was the one who forced me into it. I was just a pawn.”
“You chose to be a pawn!” Hunter snarled. He turned to Elijah and gave him a knowing look.
Elijah shot a fire and it went straight to the center of his forehead. Rooky fell tumbling on the ground. Warriors came, dragged the rogue from there and took him to a dense area. Sounds of flesh tearing and blood spraying could be heard. Hunter knew that the warriors had torn him limb by limb. Rooky was k*illed in the cruelest manner. “Should we go back?” Elijah said softly to Hunter who he knew was overwhelmed.
“Yes.” He had rescued Hawk and it was time, his pup met his mother.
