“What do you mean?” He asked, feigning innocence as he started to take off his jacket.
“This gift. It wasn’t on the bed this morning.”
Oscar shrugged, smiling. “That’s why it’s a gift.”
He went into the closet to change and was back in a minute in his sweats and tee.
“You like it?” He k**sed her forehead before taking a seat beside her. “It’s so beautiful. Thank you. But isn’t it too early for a push gift?” 1
“No. This isn’t a push gift. I’m still working on that for you. I really want to blow Vicky blushed, “You’re making me excited.”
“You should be.”
your mind.”
“I saw your note. Mom of Twin boys. I’m starting to get suspicious of you and Sophie.”
Oscar laughed. “We definitely prayed really hard. That’s why we were so confident.”
“Losing doesn’t look so bad.” Vee smiled, staring at the necklace. “At least I got a consolation gift.”
“You didn’t want to join the winning team.”
“I knew we were going to have a boy. I just didn’t think it would be two boys.” “But are you happy about it?” Oscar couldn’t help but ask.
“I am. We are definitely going to have our hands full but I’m really excited to see your lookalike in mini versions.”
Oscar blushed, “I’m excited too.”
“Thank you for my gift. I love it.”
Oscar leaned closer and k**sed her cheek. “You have nothing to thank me for.”
“How did your meeting go? We didn’t really talk about it.”
“It was good. Sophie made it fun. My father almost ruined the mood but it was okay.”
“He spoke about how sorry they were, how terrible they feel because I didn’t invite or tell them about the wedding, and how everyone in the boardroom could interact with Sophie and he couldn’t because of the restraining order.”
“I wasn’t moved by his speech. I promise you.”
“Your mother called me this morning!”
Oscar frowned, “Lisa called you? When was that?”
“Before you found me in the kitchen.”
“What-the-hell? Why would She call you? Does she want to end up behind bars?”
“She called to apologize about everything.”
“I’m going to talk to my lawyer. Mom and Dad need to be taught a lesson.”
“Don’t.” Vicky reached for his hand, thereby stopping him from reaching for his phone.
“You don’t need to stop me, babe. I’m not going to let anyone disturb our peace.”
“No one’s going to disturb our peace. Especially not them.”
“We are in the same city as your parents so it’s normal to expect actions like this from them.”
“They know they made a Terrible mistake. They feel so bad that it’s eating them up that they are probably unable to sleep and stay sane. That’s why they are trying to reach out to ask for forgiveness.”
“Why are you supporting them?”
“I’m not. I’m just trying to be realistic. No one would see you this happy and successful and not want to be close to you.”
“I didn’t say a word. She spoke her heart out and I ended the call eventually. She seemed really remorseful about what she did to me. I doubt she’s going to call again because I know they wouldn’t want to do anything to piss you off.”
“I want nothing to do with them so they should stay away.”
Vicky nodded, yawning, covering her mouth.
“You’ve been up since morning. You should get some rest.”
“Sorry. I do nothing but eat and sleep lately.” She said shyly.
“You have nothing to be sorry for. You’re breathing, eating, and resting for three remember? So it’s normal to be tired. I’ll watch over you while you take a nap.”
Vicky nodded. She was about to lay properly on the bed when she felt a move in her belly making her scream a bit.”
“Ouuuuch!” She screamed, her hand instantly moving to her belly. “Are you fine?”
“Are our boys okay?”
“You want me to call the Doctor?” Oscar said at a go, closing the gap bet**en himself and her. His voice and face filled with nothing but worry.
Vicky felt more relaxed when she felt the move again and the look on her face was replaced from that of worry to relief. “Your Babies moved.” She smiled.
Oscar was still there, looking confused so she reached for his hand and placed it on her belly. He felt the movements, making him almost tear up. The feeling was indescribable.
A Few Months Later
“You know you don’t have to stay back. We are going to be just fine.” Oscar heard his wife’s voice, making him look up from the laptop.
“Babe,” He called out her name immediately, standing up from where he was seated. “I thought you were asleep?” He said as he approached her where she was standing, which was the entrance of the home office.
“I can’t sleep. They wouldn’t stop playing around. I love them so much but it’s so discomforting. They aren’t taking it easy on me.” She said with teary eyes and her hand on her heavily pregnant belly. She was still feeling the twins kick and move around.
Oscar smiled sadly. He leaned closer to Victoria and placed a deep k**s on her forehead. Then he crouched down and placed multiple k**ses on her belly. He eventually placed his hand on her belly and felt how active their boys were.
Oscar rose to his feet and placed a deep k**s on her forehead again. He could see that she was almost in tears and was trying very hard to hold it back.
“I feel so exhausted. I need my rest but they are not letting me have some time alone.”
“I’m so sorry, my love,” Oscar said sincerely. In situations like this, he used to wish he could share in her pain, and as much as he wanted that, he knew it wasn’t possible.
“You want me to give you a massage? I could read or sing to them. Maybe it will calm them.”
“I don’t know. I feel tired. I want them out already. I thought they were going to be out last week/I can’t wait to have them in my arms. My body is exhausted already.”
Dr Natalie let her know that with twins, the delivery might be early. But it wasn’t looking like these two little angels were ready to be out. She had completed her 36th week and they were still having fun in her womb.
