Hearing that, Mortimer was so angry that he raised his hand to slap Eustace.
Eustace was quick to react. He grabbed Mortimer’s wrist and slammed it away. “If you want to live a long peaceful life, just keep your mouth shut. Otherwise, don’t blame me for the consequences!* Eustace felt that he had been kind enough. As long as Mortimer did not appear in front of him, he would not seek revenge from him. Mortimer had killed Eustace’s mother, but Eustace knew killing him would not bring back his mother.
“That being the case, it is best for us not to meet each other.”
“I never thought that your mother would-”
“Shut up!” Furious, Eustace punched Mortimer in the face. “You have no right to even speak of her! You and that bitch killed her. Don’t you dare think that I’ve forgotten what happened! I won’t hem you because I promised Grandpa that I won’t cause him to lose his son at such an old age.
long as he’s alive, I won’t lay a finger on you. You’d better pray that Grandpa lives longer.”
After saying that, Eustace left without looking back.
Meanwhile, Mortimer remained on the ground, watching Eustace’s retreating figure. His gaze was cold and unreadable.
In his office, Eustace took out his mobile phone and called Natalia.
“Hello, my dear boyfriend. What can I do for you?” In the middle of a manicure session, Natalia was surprised to receive Eustace’s call since it was the first one since they made their relationship public. Hearing her call him her boyfriend, Eustace wasn’t pleased, but he didn’t make a big deal out of it. Going straight to the point, he said, “I am going to issue a statement to announce a breakup, and you are going to do the same.”
Since it was all just business, Eustace informed her to make sure they were on the same page.
Natalia was taken aback, “Break up? So soon?” They had only publicly announced their relationship two days ago. If they broke up so soon, her parents would be furious.
Eustace explained, “The issue on my end has been resolved.”
Frustrated, she asked, “Am I merely a tool to you? You’re so ruthless.”
Eustace was displeased. “What do you mean? Didn’t we discuss this before?”
Natalia clarified, “I didn’t know you were going to break up so soon. My parents just stopped pestering me two days ago. If we just announce a breakup, they’ll think something is wrong with me.”
Natalia didn’t want to break up as it would mean her parents would start their shenanigans again.
“What do you suggest then?” Eustace asked, his annoyance starting to show. He knew he had to control himself, or he might lose his temper soon.
Natalia pondered for a moment before responding, “Can you wait a few days until I find a new boyfriend? That way, my parents won’t be too upset.”
“How many days?” Eustace inquired.
“Maybe seven or eight days?” Natalia suggested.
Eustace didn’t reply, but Natalia could sense his frustration over the phone. “What about three or four days?”
“Let’s make it three days,” Eustace agreed. “I’ll issue a statement by then, and you do what you need to.”
With that, Eustace hung up, not wanting to say anything further to Natalia. He regretted even bothering with her since she proved to be unreliable.
Luckily, Eustace only had to endure for three more days, and then he could focus on his company’s affairs and Danika. He wasn’t sure what Danika was busy with, but he knew she had dinner with Christopher again, as his bodyguard had informed him. Although he was angry, he chose not to confront her about it.
Meanwhile, Natalia put her phone away, feeling dissatisfied, She didn’t expect to be single again so soon. She wondered what kind of woman could make Eustace sacrifice so much. Maybe she should meet her herself?
Thinking about it, she urged her manicurist, “Hurry up, I have something to do.”
Danika had dinner with Christopher, but instead of heading home, she decided to visit the Zelliots. She didn’t look for Stephanie, knowing that Stephanie wouldn’t want her parents to move away from Parrington. However, Danika resolved to tell Stephanie’s parents everything as she was sure they wouldn’t want to see their daughter suffer. Even though she shouldn’t be meddling in their affairs, if Stephanie wasn’t going to say anything, Danika would do it for her. Ultimately, as long as Stephanie was safe, nothing else mattered.
When Danika met Stephanie’s parents, both of them had unpleasant expressions on their faces, and it was obvious they never expected that Stephanie was the root of their problems.
What surprised them more was that their daughter had taken the initiative to go to her for their family’s sake. Upon knowing that, they were angry and distressed.
aggressor Stephanie’s father, Charles, thanked Danika for informing them about the situation. “Danika, thank you for telling us. Otherwise, we would have thought that we somehow miraculously solved all the problems that came out of nowhere,” he said with a wry smile.
Danika shook her head. “Let’s not talk about that for now. We need to find a way to get Stephanie away from Paul.”
Charles was torn between his anger toward Paul and his concern for Stephanie’s safety. He knew rescuing Stephanie could ruin the Zelliots! business, but his daughter’s safety was his priority.
“Danika, please bring Stephanie to us. We’ll take her away. At worst, we’ll leave Parrington, Charles said. He had decided; their daughter was much more important than their business.
Seeing that they valued Stephanie so much, Danika was pleased.
“I came here today to tell you something.”
Danika suggested they take Stephanie away to Bardoff City, where the Spades could help them start anew and avoid the Wagners’ influence.
As they hadn’t expected her to plan so thoroughly and far ahead, they were at a loss for a while. “I know it’s hard for you to leave Parrington, but for Stephanie-”
“Danika, say no more. We are willing to leave,” Charles replied before Danika could finish speaking. With her plan, not only could they rescue Stephanie, but they could also keep the Zelliots from going bankrupt, which was great.
If remaining in Parrington meant that they would be harassed by that bastard Paul for the rest of their lives, then they might as well leave.
Danika laughed and breathed a sigh of relief, “Okay, I’ll go to Bardoff City soon to help you find out the situation in Bardoff City first. If possible, I’ll first find a suitable place for your new headquarters there so that you can quietly move.”
“I’ll get Stephanie out after everything is settled and try not to attract Paul’s attention,” she added. Danika was worried that if Paul knew about the plan, he would restrict Stephanie’s freedom, making it difficult for her to leave.
Stephanie’s parents nodded in agreement. “Danika, we’ll follow your plan.”
The two of them had no plans of their own, and they trusted Danika to take care of everything.
As she left their house, Danika breathed a sigh of relief. It appeared that she had to speed up her plans to go to Bardoff City as there was no time left to waste.
After leaving the Zelliots’ piace, Danika hurriedly drove home to find Christopher and discus What Are Kundang !
plan to return to Bardoff City. However, she still didn’t know which building Christopher lived in, so she had to call and ask him to come and find her.
As she approached her apartment, Danika noticed a beautiful woman standing at the door.
“Hello,” the woman greeted Danika with a smile.
The woman seemed familiar. After a few seconds, a name popped up in her mind. “Natalia?”
“Yes, it’s me,” Natalia confirmed. She was surprised that Danika knew who she was and seemed to be keeping tabs on Eustace.
“What are you doing here?” Danika asked, her expression darkening.
Natalia was a little embarrassed. She could feel Danika’s hostility, but she understood. After all, she was still Eustace’s girlfriend in name.
“I just came to see you,” Natalia said with a dry smile. She didn’t know why she was there; the whole situation felt absurd.
Annoyed, Danika walked over to open the door. Looking back at Natalia, she said, “Come in and talk.”
Although she didn’t like Natalia much, she hadn’t done anything to her. Besides, it wasn’t nice to make her talk to her at the door.
Natalia didn’t refuse and followed Danika into the house. Seeing Natalia enter, Danika tried to intimidate her by saying, “You really came in. Aren’t you afraid that I’ll hurt you?”
Natalia was stunned. She hadn’t thought about that. Both Danika and she were girls; she assumed that Danika wouldn’t be a threat.
Seeing how unassuming she was, Danika wondered what Eustace liked about her. Was it her identity or status? Danika pitied Natalia a little. She walked over and poured Natalia a glass of water.
“Sit,” she said.
Natalia took the water and sat on the sofa but didn’t drink it. Danika didn’t try to persuade her to drink. It was too late for Natalia to be wary of her now.
“Let’s talk about why you’re here. Is it because of Eustace?” Danika asked, wondering if Eustace had treated Natalia poorly.
Natalia didn’t know how to answer at first. Finally, she said, “I just wanted to see what the person he likes looks like.”
