River appeared frustrated. The fashion industry would be astonished that Joan’s internationally designed product received so few votes.

Meanwhile, at Ford Vineyard.

Noah and Alex were having drinks.

Alex stared at the vote count and commented, “The difference is striking, Noah. You’re going to outshine Joan.”

Noah remained silent but looked solemn while gazing at his phone.

Seeing Noah’s lack of response, Alex glanced at him and asked, “Why do you look so displeased,

Noah took a sip of his drink. “How would you feel if you saw the woman you love having a good time with the person you hate the most?”

He noticed something was amiss and asked in astonishment, “Noah, are you talking about River and Casey?”

Noah looked at him. “Do you think River will get involved with Casey?”

“No, of course not! River isn’t foolish. she knows about your mother’s situation and how repulsive Casey is!” Alex replied.

Noah sneered, but there was pain in his eyes. “She told me today she wants to connect with Casey.”

Alex suspected River was saying it out of spite. How could she possibly date someone as unstable as Casey? Even if she did, it must be for some hidden motive.

After taking a sip of his drink, Alex said, “Noah, you should seriously consider this. If River ends up with Casey, the consequences will be unimaginable!”

“I know, but I don’t have the authority to control it,” Noah admitted.

“That’s the problem. If you can’t control it, just let it be,” Alex advised.

Noah frowned. “I can’t stand by knowing she’ll be humiliated!”

“You didn’t do anything when your father beat up River until she was hospitalized…” Alex pointed out.

Noah was stunned. Those two situations can’t be compared.”

Alex’s attempt to persuade Noah failed. “Alright, do as you wish. If you’re still concerned, observe for two more days.”

Noah replied, “It won’t make a difference. She doesn’t listen to me anymore.”

Frustrated, Alex advised, “Noah, if you can’t get over her, it’s best to be honest with her.”

He longed to bring Noah and River back together–their ongoing mutual torment had become exhausting.

Noah slipped into contemplation, ignoring Alex.

On Monday morning, Scott arrived at River’s hospital room bearing breakfast.

Coincidentally, River emerged from the bathroom.

Scott greeted her with a warm smile, “Come, have breakfast. I’ll assist with your discharge later.”

River asked, “Can I really leave? Will the children discover anything?”

Scott handed her a small milk carton with a straw. “No, your injuries are healing rapidly. A few bandages will suffice.”

River sighed as she accepted the milk. “Would you like to come home with me to see the kids?”

Axel: [Mommy, did your business trip go smoothly?]

River was warmed when her child missed her.

River: I can go home tonight. Dear, you miss me, don’t you?]

Axel: [Yeah, Mommy. And my new school is close to your company.]

Stunned, she realized she did not know where he had transferred to.

River: [Which school is it?]

Axel: [Merlin School.]

“Merlin School? Joseph’s school? But there should be no kindergarten,” she thought.

River was bewildered.

River: [Axel, you’re a first grader now?]
