Outside the hospital gate, as Aimee was stopping a cab on roadside, a black car slowly stopped in front of her.
Immediately afterwards, a man in black got out of the car and said to her respectfully, “Miss Reed, Mr. Hayden wants to see you.”
Aimee didn’t ask him who Mr. Hayden was, and the entrance to the hospital was not a good place for a talk, so she nodded slightly, and then got into the back seat.
The car drove slowly towards Hayden’s Mansion. Even though Aimee wasn’t interested in these magnificent castles, she was still somewhat amazed.
No wonder the Reeds took this marriage so seriously. With the greedy instinct of the Reeds, they might feel that even the servant’s rooms of the Hayden family were extremely posh too.
Aimee was led into a study room where Camdyn Hayden, with white hair, was drawing.
She didn’t come near or make a sound. Instead, she just stood quietly watching, trying to minimize her presence.
Finally, Camdyn put down his pen and looked up at Aimee.
Her calves had already become stiff from standing for a long time, and she supported herself with perseverance.
“Miss Reed, can you come and see how my writing is?” Camdyn waved to Aimee and told her to come over.
Aimee was stunned for a moment, and after realizing what he was saying, she moved mechanically towards him.
Her two legs were almost unable to bend.
Camdyn watched her silently, his eyes deep and dark. He didn’t say anything.
Aimee stood beside him with the best distance and posture that could show her respect.
Then she saw a piece of paper with majestic phrases written,”A Well- matched Couple”
Aimee pursed her lips, and clearly understood Camdyn’s intention.
She found an appropriate time to speak. “Your writing is very beautiful.”
When he heard the words, pity flashed in his brilliant eyes.
This young girl didn’t seem to know how to appreciate writing, she just picked some words rhat could never be wrong to describe it.
Sighing lightly, Camdyn asked, “So you like this writing?”
Aimee’s eyes moved from the paper to his face. When she looked at his sharp eyes, she swallowed uncontrollably, then nodded, and said, “I like it.”
“Then I will give this writing to you. From now on, you will be part of my family,” Camdyn said.
Aimee replied, “Thank you, Mr. Hayden.”
“Calling me like that will make me unhappy. I’ve already said you are my family, so why don’t you call me grandpa?” Camdyn said so and pretended to be angry.
Aimee really couldn’t keep up with all of this, but she could only tough it out and call out, “Grandpa.”
“Yes.” Camdyn responded happily, and it could be recognized that he was happy from the bottom of his heart.
“You were told to stand for so long just now, did you blame me for that?” said Camdyn.
“No.” Aimee shook her head. In fact, she had already forgotten about it.
“That’s good,” Camdyn didn’t continue the topic, but said, “Let’s go to see Patrick.”
“Okay.” Aimee replied, hesitating for a while, but did not go forward to help support Camdyn.
Even she saw Camdyn limping slightly on his left foot.
Camdyn saw Aimee’s hesitation clearly from glancing at her, and sighed silently again.
She was also a person who was very defensive against other people. He hoped she would have some luck living with Patrick.
The two walked through the front yard to a courtyard in the deepest part of Hayden’s Mansion.
As soon as Aimee stepped in, she was overjoyed.
The environment here was more tranquil, and the faint fragrance of flowers in the air made her feel extraordinarily peaceful.
In the center of the courtyard, there was a small fountain, gurgling and splashing, which instantly reminded her of the mountain stream where she used to play with her teacher before she was seven years old.
A tinge of sadness crossed Aimee’s eyes.
She missed her teacher so much.
Walking inside with Camdyn, the first thing Aimee noticed was not the person lying on the sickbed, but the sophisticated instruments in the room, and she couldn’t help but sigh.
The instruments in the hospital where she worked were not so advanced compared to them. She bet the world’s top instruments were all here.
Aimee curled her fingers, feeling an unbearable urge.
She really wanted to try these instruments first hand. If she understood how to use them and took them to the hospital, perhaps even more intractable diseases could be solved.
“Pat, how are you feeling today?” Camdyn had already gone to the bed first. Looking at his grandson lying on the bed, his voice trembled uncontrollably.
Patrick Hayden lay flat on the bed, staring blankly at the ceiling. His soul seemed far from his body, as if he had never heard Camdyn’s concern.
When Aimee came over, she saw such a lifeless face.
This wasn’t the first time she met Patrick.
The last time she saw him, she didn’t have time to appreciate his facial features carefully.
At that time, he was covered in blood and had burns all over his body. Together with her tutor and the best doctors in the hospital’s various departments, she focused entirely on resuscitating the dying man.
During that operation, more than a dozen doctors took turns to conduct the surgery. They held on for more than forty hours and eventually saved the man.
Aimee participated in the first half of the operation, so she didn’t know that that man who was a sorry sight back then actually had such a handsome face.
