Yun Weishan’s clothes were covered in snow. She raised her head and looked at the man with equally dangerous eyes.
Both of them wore black clothes, spoke little, and exuded a mysterious and unpredictable aura. The gray light from outside seeped in, revealing Yun Weishan’s natural beauty without any makeup. Her whole being was as clear as snow, with gentle features and vibrant lips, but her gaze was as cold as icy stars. She glanced at the three fallen figures and furrowed her brows slightly.
“Don’t worry, they’re not dead,” said the man in black, standing with his arms crossed. His face was stern, with sharp facial features that gave off a captivating and intimidating aura when he looked at others. “I just disabled them temporarily with acupressure. I’ll release them soon.”
Yun Weishan shifted her gaze away, remaining silent as if she didn’t care. She raised her hand and casually untied her hairband, letting her long black hair scatter. Then, she nonchalantly began removing her clothes, preparing to change into the wedding attire nearby.
One by one, her outer garments, belt, and inner clothes fell to the ground.
Han Ya Si was surprised by how unabashed Yun Weishan was. He chuckled awkwardly, “You really don’t hold back at all. After all, I’m a guy.”
Yun Weishan casually replied, “My body belongs to Wufeng, not myself. What’s there to hold back?”
As she unbuttoned the last button with her slender fingers, revealing her fair shoulders, Han Ya Si couldn’t help but feel a bit embarrassed and turned away.
Yun Weishan changed into the bride’s attire, which was bright and vibrant, softening the fierceness in her demeanor and making her eyes appear gentle. Han Ya Si looked Yun Weishan up and down, unexpectedly showing a smile that seemed to be approving of her performance.
Han Ya Si nodded, “Let me reiterate your mission.”
“No need,” Yun Weishan refused. “Han Ya Si, I remember it very clearly.”
“You may remember it clearly, but I still need to repeat it. It’s my job.”
Han Ya Si’s orders were not to be refused, but Yun Weishan felt the voice in her ears drifting away, making her feel restless and uncomfortable, so she closed her eyes.
In Yun Weishan’s memory, it was a place without sunlight. The structure of Wufeng was difficult to discern from the outside because it was covered in continuous black tiles, layered and complex, forming the headquarters of Wufeng. The blue bricks, black tiles, and dark walls made even the light dim, giving off an obscure and oppressive atmosphere.
On that day, Yun Weishan and Han Ya Si stood face to face in the training room. The cold light seeped in through the huge window, causing Yun Weishan to glance sideways, but all she could see beyond the window was the endless black high walls.
Han Ya Si knew what she was thinking, understood the longing in her gaze.
So Han Ya Si spoke, “This mission is… special.”
Yun Weishan asked without looking away, “Is it especially dangerous?”
“Yes, but also… especially worthwhile.” Han Ya Si smiled again. Despite being a cold and ruthless instructor of Wufeng, he always had a smile on his face when facing Yun Weishan.
Yun Weishan finally turned her head and looked at Han Ya Si.
Han Ya Si raised an eyebrow, “You asked me before when you could leave Wufeng and live a free life.”
“I remember. But I said a life where ‘my hands no longer get stained with blood’,” Yun Weishan replied.
Han Ya Si neither confirmed nor denied it.
Yun Weishan sneered, “You answered me back then that only through death could one leave Wufeng.”
Han Ya Si couldn’t help but twitch his lips slightly, “I remember. But I said, only through death, ‘then’ can one leave Wufeng.”
“So…” Yun Weishan lifted her eyes, her gaze intense, “Did you come to me because the answer has changed?”
“It hasn’t changed, but there’s an additional new answer.” Han Ya Si took out a sealed scroll. “Complete this mission, and you can leave Wufeng and live the life you want.”
Yun Weishan’s heart stirred as she looked at the offered scroll. She remained silent, neither reaching out to take it nor rejecting it.
Han Ya Si chuckled lightly. He knew Yun Weishan wouldn’t refuse this mission. After all, the fleeting glimmer of hope that had just lit up in her eyes had already answered for her.
Before the mission began, Yun Weishan had to undergo a series of specialized training.
While Han Ya Si spoke softly during their conversations, he never showed mercy during training.
Inside the stone chamber, there was a long table with six small bowls, each containing different-colored liquids. Yun Weishan had a blindfold over her eyes and sat on one side, while Han Ya Si sat on the other side.
Yun Weishan couldn’t see, so she fumbled and picked up the porcelain bowl in front of her, sniffing to identify the scent.
Han Ya Si leisurely ate candied chestnuts wrapped in oiled cloth while calmly narrating the details of their mission: “The Gong family has been secluded in the Old Dust Valley for years, forming their own faction and disregarding the rules of the martial world. They consider Wufeng as their mortal enemy. The terrain of the Old Dust Valley is treacherous and difficult to attack. The interior of the Gong family’s stronghold is filled with watchtowers and hidden fortresses, with intricate secret passages. They maintain strict vigilance year-round, changing guards day and night without interruption. It’s nearly impossible for outsiders to enter.”
Yun Weishan ignored it and focused on smelling the tea cup in front of her, then asked, “Are these teas?”
Han Ya Si replied, “One cup is medicine, five cups are poison.”
She didn’t even know it was a riddle. Yun Weishan asked again, “Should I drink one cup?”
Han Ya Si smiled but didn’t answer, continuing, “The Gong family has four main branches: Gong as the surname, and Shang, Jiao, Zheng, and Yu as given names. Zheng Gong specializes in medicine, poison, and concealed weapons. Shang Gong excels in weapon forging. Jiao Gong handles external affairs, managing the family’s livelihood and navigating the martial world. Yu Gong is responsible for internal defense and commanding the defense of the Gong family’s stronghold.”
