She knocked on the door and asked if the pilot was alright, but no one answered.
The flight attendant was a little nervous. Danika sat upright. Her instincts were never wrong when it came to danger.
She walked toward the cockpit. “What’s wrong?” she asked calmly.
“Please go back to your seat, miss.” The flight attendant was panicking on the inside, but she was trying her best to keep calm.
Danika didn’t move. She looked at the cockpit, which was closed shut. “Something has probably happened in there. How many people are inside?”
*Just the pilot and the co-pilot,” another flight attendant replied.
Someone else chimed in, “Julie is in there, too. She was giving them coffee.”
*Julie?” Danika frowned. Before she could ask about Julie, the door opened.
Julie walked out, holding a gun and looking at everyone coldly. “Sit down quietly in the rest area. I don’t want to point my gun at my dear colleagues.” She smiled giddily at them. Paired with the gun in her hand, she looked like the Joker.
The flight attendants seemed too stunned to respond. Someone, who was friends with Julie, blurted out, “Julie, what are you doing? Are you crazy?”
Julie turned, looking at the person who had spoken. “That’s right. I’m fucking crazy.”
She’d had enough of this world, but dying all by herself would be lonely. She had to drag everyone down to their graves along with her.
“Sit the fuck down!” she roared, pointing her gun at people.
The flight attendants were all startled. They ran to the rest area, terrified of being shot. It was then that Julie noticed Danika. She frowned. “Who are you?”
“I…I came looking for coffee. Danika smiled awkwardly. She could never have imagined a moment like this.
It would be easy to tackle this woman, and obtaining her gun would be no problem, but Danika didn’t spring into action immediately. She wasn’t sure about the situation in the cockpit, and she didn’t know if this woman had accomplices.
Julie frowned. “Get the fuck out and sit down!”
“Okay,” Danika replied. She returned to her seat, looking obedient, but she was already devising a plan. First, she had to find out what the cockpit was like. However, based on how Julie could walk out so easily, the pilot and co-pilot were probably not in a good situation.
Did Julie have an accomplice? Danika wondered.
“Are you alright?” Eustace furrowed his eyebrows when he watched her walk toward him, worried.
Danika shook her head, saying nothing. The woman was right behind her. There was no telling if she would suddenly go nuts.
It was only when Danika returned to her seat that Eustace saw the woman behind her with a gun in her hand. His eyebrows furrowed deeper.
“Is this a terrorist attack?” he wondered and shot Danika an inquiring look; she nodded. Eustace could already guess what was happening.
Julie ignored them. There were only two of them in first class-Vincent was in business class. Two people were not worthy enough of attention.
Behind them, Danika heard the woman declaring proudly to the passengers that they were now in control of the plane and that the passengers were advised not to move.
“They?” Danika’s sharp ears caught the word. Julie indeed had an accomplice.
Soon after, someone else walked out from the cockpit. Danika was stunned.
He walked past them, planning on ignoring them, but then he changed his mind and said, “Get up and go to the back!” The two people didn’t look like they could fight back and ruin their plans, but he had to be careful.
He had a gun in his hand, too. Danika had no idea where these people had come from. Eustace wanted to fight. He thought he could handle it easily, but Danika held him back and shook her head, bringing him to business class. Before that, she glanced into the cockpit. Both the pilot and co-
pilot were slumped over the controls. They had either passed out or were already…
Danika looked at the male. He was wearing a co-pilot’s uniform, probably a pilot in training. Some flights would have people like him trying to gain flight experience.
He had such a bright future ahead of him. Why was he doing this?
But of course, no one could tell Danika the reason. She wasn’t interested to know, anyway. What she needed to do was figure out what they wanted.
Eustace and Danika had to squeeze together in business class. There was only one seat available.
“Why didn’t you let me attack?” Eustace whispered in her ear. He glared at the two terrorists.
“We should wait and see what they’re up to. What if they still have other accomplices?” They had to be on the lookout Eustace thought what Danika said made sense, so he sat and waited, not in a hurry to handle them.
The two of them began arguing. Julie looked antsy. “Didn’t we agree on making them all die with us? Why are you going back on your words?” she asked, her eyes reddened. She was about to point her gun at him.
The man was just as Danika expected. He was the plane’s pilot-in-training and was called Brett Samson.
Brett was exasperated seeing her so agitated. He said, “I don’t mean to go back on my words. I said I would die with you, and I will. But I have a family. I need to leave them some money die.”
before I Julie was quiet. Brett continued, “I swear, once I get my money, I’ll steer the plane toward Mount Enderest and crash it. They will all die together with us.”
Julie looked at him and finally decided to believe him. She had no choice.
Brett was satisfied and said, “Keep watch. Tell them that we won’t harm them as long as the Parrington government gives us the money.”
That was just to feed the passengers some false hope. It’d be hard to control a swarm of angered people, even with a gun.
“Alright, you go.” She knew that Brett wanted to contact the Parrington government. She could only hope he would successfully obtain the money and then crash them all to their deaths. In her eyes, death was her final home.
Brett left and walked toward the cockpit. Julie told the passengers what they planned to say. As expected, everyone calmed down considerably. They believed that the government would help them, and they were full of hope.
Only Danika and Eustace, who were in the front row, heard what the two had said. They knew that they would not let anyone go, even if they had the money.
They couldn’t just sit there and wait for their deaths. Danika was prepared to creep up behind Julie. She would tackle her before tackling the man in the cockpit. But just as she moved, Eustace stopped her. “I’ll go.”
How could he sit by and watch as Danika jumped into danger? He wasn’t a man if he let her.
Before Danika could respond, Eustace moved. When Julie’s guard was down, he jumped at her and knocked her firmly to the floor. He quickly seized her gun and clamped her mouth shut.
Just before the passengers could scream, Danika shot up and beckoned for them to be quiet. They shut up at once.
She found a bundle of rope and tied Julie up securely. Then, she gagged her. It was only then that she and Eustace tiptoed toward the cockpit.
“Five million for a plane full of lives. A pretty good deal, isn’t it?” Brett’s voice sounded from the cockpit. He was negotiating with the government. “Send it all to the account that I’m giving you. If don’t get it in ten minutes, you can prepare yourselves for a plane full of corpses.”
He slammed the phone down. He was confident that the government would agree to his demands. There were hundreds of lives on the plane. The government couldn’t refuse him.
He was in a good mood. Five million dollars would do that to anyone. He was not concerned about Julie at all. He thought the passengers would all value their lives too much to hurt her. “Keep guard at the door.” Eustace stopped Danika, preparing to rush in to tackle Brett.
Danika was worried. They’d be easily spotted if they rushed in like this. He had a gun, too. If anything happened…
She pulled at Eustace. “Don’t go in. Find a way to lure him out.”
