Arthur and Hawk went to Shawn and Lena to take their blessings. “Now you both can officially come over to my house anytime!” Shawn announced and the whole family laughed.
Together, they all came out with Lia holding h*ands of Arthur and Hawk. When the three raised it for all the pack members to see, there were loud cheers. A wave of joy and excitement passed through the pack. Flowers were showered over them as they walked in between the crowd all the way to the carthat was waiting for them outside. Arthur asked the driver to get out and he drove Lia and Hawk to the castle.
The castle grounds were lit with so many lights that it looked like the stars had dropped to the ground. They walked to the garden where a dinner was hosted for the whole pack. Music played in the background. The crowd was going berserk. They demanded that Lia go for the first dance. Since her mates wouldn’t allow her to dance with anyone else, they both danced with her, one standing in front of her and the other behind her. Whenever someone would come to dance with her, they would growl and ward him off. But they couldn’t say anything to Shawn and Hunter.
The function lasted until the wee hours of the morning and about 4 AM, they finally went back to their room, despite having several guests still out there. Lia’s feet hurt badly and even before she could complain, Arthur lifted her in his arms bridal style and carried her back to the room. Hawk followed them with her sandals in his h*ands. Arthur helped her remove her gown and only when she was stripped down to her p*anties that she slipped inside the comforter. Arthur and Hawk joined her soon after. On their wedding night, the boys were left hanging as their wife immediately fell off to sleep, snoring softly.
Arthur chuckled. He pressed a k*iss to her forehead and went off to sleep with his face buried in her back while Hawk pulled her closer to his c*hest and drifted off to sleep with a satisfied smile. She was theirs. Forever.
Two years later.
Lia was sitting under the oak tree in the front lawns of her building. The tests were on head. Pursuing business major was h*ard but she was at the top of the class and her main competition was none other than Hawk. Arthur had taken social sciences. He was also at the top of his class. The only difference between Hawk and Arthur was the time they had to devote. While Arthur would easily go to the pack and assist his father and also remain at the top, Hawk had to devote more time.
With his head on her lap, he had closed his eyes as Lia stroked his hair while reading a paper by a professor. “Hawk!” Arthur called them both in an excited voice.
Hawk grunted and turned to face Lia’s belly. Lia giggled when he pressed his nose to her. “Let him sleep. Poor one; he has to fight with me in the jiu-jitsu class. So he is trying to regain every ounce of energy as possible.” Arthur grinned. He k*issed Lia on her head and then shook Hawk. “Mom has sent a letter. You should read it.” Hawk turned, a little surprised. In this age of emails and text messages on phone why would she send a letter? “What’s it about?” he asked, taking the letter from him.
“Read it for yourself.” Arthur settled next to Lia and she leaned on his shoulder.
From the corner of her eye, she saw a group of girls, viewing her skeptically. She had become used to such judgmental stares. Many used to ask her about her relationship with the brothers. Arthur and Hawk were aware that polyandry wasn’t looked upon well in the human world and so they had asked her to remain quiet about it. “They are my roommates.” That answer placated several curious boys and girls because living in a shared accommodation was fine. At the same time, she had her father’s name as her guardian because neither Arthur nor Hawk were her l*egal husbands in the human world.
Lia mostly stayed away from others in order to avoid unwanted questions. It worked for her because she wasn’t the type who would socialize around. Besides, her mates kept her very busy from morning till night.
In the past two years, she had learnt two types of martial arts-judo and karate. This year she was learning jiu-jitsu.
They woke her up every day in the morning by 5 AM. They would go for a run and return by 6 AM. The coaches would come and teach her for an hour. After that, she would take a bath and have breakfast with her mates. Since River and Hunter had insisted that they lived in an independent house rather than the college accommodation, they had bought a small house about twenty minutes from the college. Shawn had gifted them the car that he had bought to present to Lia—a Land Rover.
Hawk opened the letter and read the contents. As and as he read it, his eyes became wide like saucers. He flipped the letter to see the attached document. “But why would they do it? This is ridiculous!” he gritted. “I have no idea!” Arthur breathed. His l*ips pursed in a thin line and he looked away.
“What is it about?” Lia asked. Hawk gave her the letter and when she read it, she jerked her head back. “Who’s Alpha Brom?”
“He became Alpha of the Pine pack after Alpha Lionel was k*illed. He has sent the letter to the council of Elders that the Dark Moon pack and the Crescent pack merger should be deemed null,” Arthur said.
“Why? The packs were merged with the consent of two Alphas. It is a stupid claim.” Lia folded the letter and stashed it in her bag.
“It is a ridiculous claim,” Hawk added. “Why would Brom do this kind of a thing?”
Arthur shook his head. “I talked to dad. He said that he has sent his spies over to check what is the real problem.” While they were talking about this issue, a girl waved at Lia with a smile. Taken aback at this sudden intrusion, Lia blinked her eyes, wondering if she was waving to the wrong person, but when the girl waved at her again, she lifted her h*and awkwardly to wave back. Arthur and Hawk turned to glare at the girl. Lia had to say, “Down boys!”
The girl crossed the lawn to reach them. “Hi, I am Maggie Moore!”
“Hi!” Lia was bewildered at her sudden approach. “I am Lia.”
“I know!” she said, grinning at her. “And they are Arthur and Hawk.”
While Lia straightened up, the boys continued to glare at Maggie like they would eat her up anytime. She tucked a strand of her light brown hair behind her ear and blushed a little under their gaze. “I am so sorry to intrude like this, but I heard that you have been the top student of the business administration class. I mean both you and Hawk. I joined the college last year and I am struggling a lot. Is it okay if you could guide me a little. Just a little. I promise I won’t piggy back on you. Actually-” She l*icked her l*ips, flushing deeply. “Actually my parents are threatening that they will pull me out of college if I don’t pass this year.”
“Maybe you should spend more time in the library,” Arthur growled.
Maggie gulped at his rudeness. Her big brown eyes became moist. “Yes!” The whole situation became awkward immediately. “Yes, I should. I have been but-” She pursed her l*ips, whimpering. “I am sorry to disturb you. I will leave.” She started getting up when Lia stopped her. “Hey, don’t mind them,” she said, pitying her. “Sit down and tell me your problem.”
“Are you sure?” Maggie said, blinking her tears away.
“I am,” Lia chuckled.
“I have continuous classes till evening. Is it okay to meet you for coffee at the college cafe at 7 PM? It will be my treat!”
Lia glanced at her mates who looked clearly displeased. “Umm…”
Seeing her reluctance, Maggie coaxed, “I have a test in three days. Please it would be great if you can help me!”
“In that case, you can come over to our house,” Hawk growled. “Lia can’t stay back after her classes.” Maggie gulped. She looked at Lia who was now blushing slightly. “That’s fine with me,” Maggie immediately blurted. “I will come in the evening to your place.” She noted the address and after thanking Lia again, she went away.
Lia smacked Hawk. “Gosh, you were so rude.”
