He didn’t care about Mortimer, much less his child.Right now, he only cared about Danika. He didn’t know what was happening to him.He was just terribly afraid of losing her.He wished she could stay by his side forever, but he knew he couldn’t do that —he’d only push her away.
That was why he had to be patient and bear with it, even though it upset him.
Thankfully, the upset in his heart would dissipate when Danika was within his sight.
“So you wouldn’t care?” Danika was surprised.
She thought Eustace would be angry.
“I don’t care about anything except for you,” he said.
Danika paused, saying nothing.
Danika was home, lying in bed, unable to fall asleep.
Finally, she got up and scrolled through her contacts, calling an acquaintance currently abroad. He specialized in psychology.
She met him when she was studying abroad, and once she learned he was also from Parrington Medical University, they grew close. He picked up quickly, and Danika told him about Eustace’s condition. She couldn’t help feeling worried.
“This is abnormal, isn’t it?” She was asking for professional help because she couldn’t be sure of it herself.
“Yes.It could be the effects of him losing his mother, which is why he is so afraid of losing you,” he said.
Danika bit her lip, not knowing what to say.
“He’s in a critical situation. He’s basically walking on a tightrope. The moment he’s tipped over, he might do something irrational. You need to take him to a psychiatrist. It’ll be harder to treat in the future.”
Danika’s heart sank. She didn’t expect Eustace’s condition to be so serious. She thought he was just afraid of the dark. But now…
“Thanks for the trouble,” she said.
“I’m not too familiar with this department.Do you know any trustworthy psychiatrists in Parrington?”
“I do.I’ll send you her phone number.”
The call soon ended, and Danika got her number quickly. With Eustace’s position, she had to find someone trustworthy.News of it couldn’t be spread.
Danika went to the venue bright and early on the day she had her free clinic appointment. There were mountains of people swarming in.
She had to admire how clever the chairman was.Due to the plane incident, there were tons of people coming.
They just had to know how many people were actually there for treatments.
Danika didn’t care about it since there was a triage before her.
The people who got to her would definitely be people in need. She spent the entire day working.
Eustace wasn’t far off.
His gaze rested on Danika always, not leaving for even a moment.
Vincent sat in the driver’s seat. He, too, felt that his president was paying a little too much attention to Danika.
“Mr.Quincey, Miss Zellweger is safe,” he said.
“You don’t lave Lo guard her every moment.”
“How would you know? What if she gets in danger?” Eustace said, his gaze still on Danika.
Vincent smiled bitterly. It was broad daylight.
How could there be danger lurking? “You’d only pressure her, Mr.Quincey.”
Vincent couldn’t help saying it.
As expected, Eustace shifted his gaze away.
“But…I’m worried about her.”
“I know you’re doing it for her good, but no one would be able to stand being watched 24/7.”
Eustace’s face shifted.
Could no one really stand it? He thought of what Danika had said yesterday. He had to admit that Danika was indeed annoyed by him.He sighed and rubbed his temples.
“I don’t know what’s happening to me.”
“Have you seen Dr.Hugh lately?” Vincent asked weakly.
Eustace had suddenly ordered him to find a therapist before, and Vincent was happy when it happened. He thought that Eustace was finally thinking things through. But now it seemed that Dr.Hugh wasn’t doing anything.Eustace’s mental problems had not lessened.
In fact, they seemed to have gotten worse.
Eustace nodded.
“I go every day, but it doesn’t seem to work.” Vincent thought so too, but he didn’t say it out loud.He comforted Eustace, saying, ‘ Maybe it’s just a phase.
Illnesses get worse before they can get better.”
Vincent regretted saying that.
Illness? How could he say that Eustace had an illness? Thankfully, Eustace didn’t mind.
He merely frowned, irritated.
“Hopefully so.”
He was hoping that it was a sign of getting better, too.He didn’t want things to remain like this forever. He suddenly wanted to get a therapist because Danika had mentioned his fear of the dark Afterward, he thought it was time to face his fears, so he got Vincent to find him one.
They said he was the best therapist in the country, but Eustace thought his methods weren’t really working. He could be wrong. He pushed the topic away.
“Have you found anything on Mortimer’s end?”
Ever since Danika suddenly asked if Mortimer and Max’s mother had a child, Eustace knew that the question came from somewhere.Something must have happened to make Danika ask him that.
“Yes.”
Vincent handed him a document.
“Mortimer has another son, indeed.”
Eustace was speechless.
There was an illegitimate child, after all, and they hadn’t even bothered to cover it up.He’d found it out very easily. He looked at Alfred’s details, his gaze turning cold.
“No wonder he’d come back to fight for Quincey Group. He wanted to get his son a part of the lion’s share.”
Eustace knew that there was something off about Mortimer suddenly coming back.He seemed to want to change everything up, too.
As it turned out, he had an ulterior motive.
“Mr.Quincey, I also discovered that Alfred has joined Miss Zellweger’s company,” Vincent reported truthfully.
He thought that it was odd and deserved Eustace’s attention.
At once, Eustace’s face darkened.
It was no wonder that Danika would ask him that question. She must have seen Alfred and noticed their similarities.
“Should we tell her? I worry that Alfred has bad intentions,” Vincent said.
Eustace nodded.
“I’ll tell her about it. Let’s go to work.” Vincent said nothing else, driving the car toward Quincey Group.
Meanwhile, in Bardoff City, Rowena Glass looked at the woman before her coldly.
“Do you understand your mission?”
“Yes.” The woman nodded.
If Danika were around, she would realize that this was the same woman who beat her up but didn’t kill her the last time.
“Failure is not an option,” Rowena said.
She wouldn’t let Danika return to the Zellwegers.
