At this point, Ashton was beyond upset. He left where he was and approached Bessie.
He grabbed her by her arm, “What the hell is wrong with you? I don’t like you, I don’t want anything to do with you, why the hell can’t you understand that?”
“And how dare you speak rudely to Vicky? Have you forgotten your position in this company?”
“And what will she do to me? Have me fired because I caught her almost f*****g my man?”
“If you say that again, I promise you that I’m not going to regret what I’m going to do to You!”, Ashton said, giving her a very nasty glare. He was brought up not to lay a finger on women, Heaven knows what he would have done already if she was a male.
The door flung open and Katherine came in, looking all breathless and worried. “I tried to stop her but she was way ahead of me. I’m so sorry.” She said, exchanging a glare with Bessie.
“Never mind, She’s leaving already!” Ashton spoke.
“You’ve got a very shady attitude. You put out a nice facade so people would worship you and think you are good whereas, you are just as evil as anyone could imagine. I’m not one of those people that fear you, because what’s the worst you can do to me? I’m sure it will feel good to explain to the Board why you both are doing nasty things in the office and during office hours.”
“Can you just shut the f****k up and get the hell out of here,?!” Ashton glared at Bessie.
Knowing she would probably keep talking and not move away from where she stood, Ashton strongly grabbed her by her arm and started dragging her towards the door.
“Let go of me, I have to deal with her! And I really don’t know what you see in her. She’s a terrible person who has broken people’s hearts. Aren’t you worried about that?”
“Ashton is mine, Stay the hell away from him!” She glared at Vicky before Ashton successfully dragged her out of the office.
“What was that for? Are you nuts?” Ashton asked the moment they both got outside. He was really mad at her but at the same time, trying to lower his voice so as not to attract the attention of other staff.
“Stop being all stressed up over her. She’s not a good person,”
“Wow, so you’re the good person?”
“Come on, Ashton, you have to trust me. You may not like me that much but it’s my duty to protect you. She’s just going to ruin you and I don’t want that for you!”
“What f*g du**ty? Did I ask for your help? What the hell has come over you? I don’t want you, I don’t want anything to do with you, why can’t you get that!”
“Don’t make me look like a *g terr**ible person. I’m only fighting for what I want!”
“You call that fighting for what you want? You just belittled a woman who is of a higher standard than you in this office and you call that fighting for me? Now that you’ve literally infuriated us all, you think I’m going to love you more, put a ring on your finger, or want to even talk to you again?”
“You keep saying she’s a terrible person, How innocent are you too? Or do you think we don’t know about the rubbish you do in the strip club you work at?”
“You judge and condemn people, yet your life is even more cra ppy.”
“I’m glad to let you know that you’ve successfully lost the little ounce of respect that I have for you!”
“Come on, Ashton. I’m not a bad person and I’ll never do evil to anyone. I just get really cranky and possessive over what’s mine.”
“She’s rich, she’s got a really high position in this office but that doesn’t mean she can steal my man. I’m actually fighting for the both of us. You have to support me!”
“You’re really sick!!! Stay the hell away from me!” Ashton glared at her, taking his leave.
“You can walk away but just know that I’m not giving up on you! It’s either me or no one else.”
Victoria softly massaged her temple the moment the duo were out of sight.
She saw that Kathie was about to say something, but she held her hand up, stopping her.
Vicky made her way to her workspace and leaned against the desk, trying to come out of the thoughts of what just happened.
“You were assigned to me as my assistant but I took you as my sister. I love and appreciate the fact that you look out for me but I would like to put boundaries when it comes to my love life. Please stay out of it and enough of Ashton.”
“I blame myself for being so stu pid to get that carried away.”
Kathie sighed, approaching her Boss.
“I’m sorry. I just wanted you to be happy and I know Ashton to be a sincere person.”
“It’s fine, forget about it. Let’s get back to work.”
Victoria was about to settle on the chair behind her desk when the door flung open.
“I think I have to place a bodyguard by my door!”
Ashton ignored what she said and approached her. He wanted to touch her but she pulled her hand away.
“I’m deeply sorry for what she said to you. She’s just an obsessed psy cho.”
“Enough! I’m really not in the mood for this talk.”
“Vee,”
“I’ve got so much work to do, Ashton,” She gestured at her desk “so please excuse me.”
“Please, Vee. This isn’t my fault, you know?”
“Then whose fault?” She unintentionally raised her voice.
“If you had let go of me, you think she would have found me on your lap?”
“What do you mean? Are you ashamed of me?”.
“Oh Go d, does it have to be about you all the time?”
“Look, what happened shouldn’t have happened. The date, everything, was all a mistake!”.
“You are saying all these because of Bessie? Don’t tell me you’re threatened by her?”
“I’ve had enough, Ashton. Please excuse me.” She sat on the chair behind her desk.
Ashton wanted to say something else but his lips moved and no words came out. He sighed, ran his fingers through his hair, then stormed out of her office.
“I know I promised I wasn’t going to interfere again but you were too harsh on him,”
“Oh, f uck!” Vicky mumbled, wondering when she was ever going to hear the end of this.”
“You are going to throw all of these away because of Bessie?”
“You of all people should understand how I genuinely feel about office romance. It ruined me once and I’m not going to let that happen again.”
“Now tell me, if He hadn’t come in here, being all clingy, Would Bessie have gotten the guts to talk to me that way?”
“You of all people should know that I don’t joke with my integrity. This was never going to work in the very beginning and I made that known to you all.”
“I don’t want to hear anything about Ashton again! What time is the meeting?”
“12 noon thereabout,”
“Thanks, you can take your leave.”
Kathie obeyed, making her way towards the door.
Coming out of Vicky’s office, She came face to face with Ashton who was facing the wall with a hand over his face.
“Ash,” She approached him. “Are you okay?”
He finally removed his hand from his face.
Kathie’s heart instantly went out to him when she saw how glossy his eyes were.
“Yeah, I was just going back to my office.”
“You don’t have to feel bad, you know? Vee is the worst when she’s angry. She will come around,”
“Besides, we can’t blame her for reacting this way. That Bi tch, Bessie, went really far. Vee is trying to protect her name and integrity.”
“I know. But there’s nothing between us.”
“I know that too. You know how much I’m rooting for you both so it definitely hurts me to see you both this way!”
“Yeah, guess I lost her? Back to my lonely life!”
“What? Are you kidding me? You’re going to give up like that?”
“You heard the Boss! She said she doesn’t want anything to do with me!”
“Just one main challenge and you want to run off like a chicken? Dude, you’ve come so far just to give up like that.”
“She’s not the only one who has integrity to uphold. I got that too. I don’t want her to lose the little respect I have for her just because I’m all over her!”
“Who cares! You like her so just go for it!”
“Oh wait, or should I declare Oscar the winner?”
“Oh please, don’t mention that ba stard’s name.”
“Yeah, that’s what it means. You giving up automatically makes Oscar the winner.”
“No one knows that bad bi tch in that office more than me. She may be showing a very strong and fearful facade but trust me she has the kindest heart I ever know of anyone.”
“Give her some time to cool off and do something really sweet for her.”
“I’ll try.”
“You better do, or else I’m going to hunt you down in this office.”
Her statement forced a chuckle from Ashton’s lips.
Victoria had no idea how long she had worked for until a knock came through on her door.
She sighed, glad that someone could actually knock after all the drama she had to witness today.
“Come in,” She said, absentmindedly reaching for her phone.”
The door flung open and Kathie walked in.
“You didn’t have breakfast, it’s almost noon.”
“I’m fine.” She mumbled, taking out a file from her desk drawer.
Seeing that Vee was probably still angry, Kathie decided not to push.
“It’s time for the meeting. The guest is in the conference room.”
Victoria sighed, standing to her feet. “This better be worthwhile.”
She picked up her tab from the table and made her way out of the office, with Kathie walking behind her.
Soon enough, they got to the conference room. Stepping in, they stopped in their tracks, shocked by the face they were staring at.
Oscar Wayde!!!
There he was, seated, smirking at their shocked expression.
