“Are three drops really all you need for this?”
I smiled and nodded. Jess then bit her finger, but she put four drops instead of three.
I raised an eyebrow looking at her.
“Midnight said one more to be safe.”
I smiled and shook my head. I then closed the vial and shook it. Mixing the contents thoroughly while chatting a spell. I drew a magic circle on the table and sat in the center.
“Now everyone hold hands, and make sure everyone is connected like in a chain.”
Raphael placed a hand on my left shoulder and Brandon placed his on my right. I made sure everyone was holding hands. When all was ready. I opened the vial and downed the contents. My vision then turned pure white.
Jess’s POV
The spell worked. We were transported to the same black space that I saw when Sabrina did this with my past.
“You guys can let go now, but stay close to Angel.”
I said to everyone.
“Why is it black? Did something go wrong?”
Sophie asked, hugging close to Roy. I shook my head.
“No think of this as the main menu on a DVD, in a moment or two we will start seeing everything Angel did, but remember the things we are about to see and hear have already happened and no one will be able to hear or see us, and we will be able to hear Angel’s thoughts when she thinks to herself. Everyone in the memory will just walk through us like we aren’t even here.”
They all nodded and then the darkness started to lift and we could see what Sabrina lived through.
(This is the past they are seeing in the memory mind share.)
Sabrina’s POV
“Come on sis, get out of that bed, or you and your wolf are not getting breakfast!”
I called up the stairs. I am so happy my little sister found her mate. It is rare for a witch to find their true mate because we can not be killed by time. Witches were like vampires on that note. We could live for centuries and centuries. The only way to kill a witch is either using witch hunting tools or killing our mate with magic. I was pulled from my thoughts at the thunderous footsteps coming down the stairs. I turn around and start laughing.
“Willy put me down. Hahaha.”
My little sister, Tasha, said while being over her mate’s shoulder like a sack of flour. He laughs but still does not put her down. I roll my eyes at their love bird antics. It had officially been two years since they found each other. I am honestly surprised that they haven’t had a child yet.
“I guess a wolf’s hunger for food can rival that of cuddling with his mate. Huh Tasha?”
She glared at me when William finally let her down, but he still had her in his lap.
“Nothing will override my need to be with her. That is why I take her everywhere I go.”
William said as he nuzzled his pouting mate. She rolled her eyes and giggled at his antics.
“OK, ok hurry up before you too give me diabetes with all this sweetnest.”
They both laughed and the three of us enjoyed our family breakfast together. William had to go on patrol with the other pack warriors, so Tasha decided to stay home while I went to the pack hospital as I normally did with my day.
“Hello Sabrina. How are you today?”
One of the nurses asked as I walked in. I smile at all of them.
“I’m doing good. A little lonely but still as happy as can be.”
The nurses all nodded.
“I can understand that. I feel happy my sister has her mate, but sad I haven’t found mine yet. I think all of us feel that way one way or another.”
one said. Then another spoke up.
“I can’t imagine how you must feel, especially since you told us that witches sometimes never find their mates.”
She got up to get me a quick hug. Even though wolves were known for not getting along with other creatures, it made me happy to see that the ones in the Nightmare pack were open to the idea.
“Hey we are going out with some of the single warriors tonight for some drinks. Why don’t you come with us. Even if you can’t find your true mate yet, you could still live a bit and have some fun with the singles.”
She said, while nudging me and wiggling her eyebrows. We all burst out laughing.
“I think I might, but make sure to tell Lucy. No playing matchmaker tonight.
They all nodded and I went on with my day. Helping the doctors and nurses with natural remedies and slaves that helped the wolves heal a bit faster and made the old one more comfortable. Even with magic you can’t completely cure someone’s illness, but the next best thing was to make them live as comfortably as possible. Then there was a rush of emergency. Some of the pack warriors were brought in on stretchers. William being one of them.
Since I was his sister in law, I couldn’t be there when they treated him. So I helped with the others. They had some cuts and wounds that were laced with silver and wolf’s bane. There would be some sacring, but nothing life threatening. Tasha burst in the doors wanting to see William immediately. I grew scared she was losing it so I used my magic to bind her so she would listen.
“William is still in surgery Tasha. You need to calm down. You are in a hospital.”
I whispered trying my best to calm her. She snapped her head at me with rage in her eye. She was not thinking clearly as she normally would.
“Calm down?! Calm down!? How the hell can I be calm when my mate is in pain and you are not in there to treat him?! What kind of sister are you to let him be treated by others?!”
I was hurt by her words, but she was so distraught I knew she would lash out at anyone. I rather take her scorn than let the others here feel it. A witch’s magic is solely connected to their emotions. If directed this scorn and anger to any of these wolves she could have killed them. Me being her elder sister and stronger than her, they were nothing but hurtful words.
I gently placed both hands on her face and looked her dead in the eyes and said
“I am sorry Tasha.”
I put a sleeping charm on her. She fell into my arms and with the help of one of the pack warriors next to me we placed her on an empty bed in another room. I stayed next to her until Doctor Roland came over. He looked between her and me with a pain expression. I knew that was not good.
“We did all we could. The most we can do is make him comfortable. He is a strong hybrid, so we think he will last maybe three days with the silver dust in his system. Please try and prepare your sister for the worst outcome.”
he said then left. Some nurses brought William into the same room we brought Tasha in. I will stay until they wake up.
It was around two in the morning when William groaned awake.
“Owww I feel like I was hit with you stupid wash bins all over Sabrina.”
he said with a strained laugh. I chuckled and walked over to him.
“I am so glad that you feel yourself to be honored by my punishments.”
He grinned, and looked over at his mate in the next bed, then back to me.
“I take it that I don’t have much time, do I?”
I took a deep breath and shook my head.
“The doctor said that you would be lucky to last the next three days, but there is silver dust in your system that they could not extract, and all I can do is keep you comfortable until the end.”
William rached for my hand and gripped it tight.
“I will accept my fate Sabrina, but please take care of your sister for me. You are the only one able to keep her from the darkness.”
I nodded with tears in my eyes.
“I will protect her the best I can, William, but you and I both know that if she gives into her grief and sorrow, even I can not save her. You have to convince her to let you go.”
Since he was not dying of magic, but the natural way to kill werewolves. Tasha would not die. She could live on and maybe find him again in another life, but she would have to let him go and move on with her life.
Tasha started to groan and turn over. My charm had worn off. She woke up to see William next her. She jumped up and clung to him.
“You can not leave me like that. I was so scared you would not make it.”
she said and her tears came rolling down her cheeks. William grabbed her and set her on his lap.
“I will give you two some alone time.”
I said as I left the room. I walked to the nurses station and they all ran to me and gave me a big group hug.
“We heard what the Doctor said. Is there any way to help Tasha?”
the head nurse asked. I shook my head.
