Derik kissed my cheek, then my head, then he ran his fingers through my tangled hair. He massaged my scalp and I sighed, my eyes closing. The aftercare was almost as good as the sex.
Kai came back with a warm cloth, cleaning me up as Brax licked over my neck. His fingertips traced down my side, following the curve of my breast. Derik laid back and I went with him, lying on his body, accepting their aftercare.
Brax grabbed the oil from the bedside table and handed it to Derik, who rubbed it between his hands and then started massaging it into my shoulders and neck. It felt so damn good, releasing all the leftover tension.
Kai took the cloth back to the bathroom as Brax went to the small table between the sitting chairs we now had at the window. I liked to sit there and look out on the gardens as I fed the twins or read my books. Kai liked to fuck me on them. Derik sometimes worked there with me to keep me company.
Brax just sat there, watching me or holding the twin I wasn’t. It was my favorite place and it was where there was always a fresh brew of tea. He poured us all some then brought mine over to me.
I sat up on Derik, squeaking as I sat up with his dick still in me. It twitched inside me, coming back to life in an instant.
“Mmm, how am I meant to live the life of a Luna if I have you three distracting me all the time with your huge werewolf dicks, hmm?” I teased, sipping my tea, still not climbing off Derik.
My stomach stirred with desire again. Brax emptied his cup of tea and then handed Kai one. Kai pulled his pants back on and went to the window, staring out at the gardens. We had trimmed the hedges there so now we could see over it, into the city better.
“Pretty sure you are the distracting one with those beautiful begging eyes on us all the time,” Derik smiled, his hand rubbing over my stomach with lazy circles. He rested his other hand behind his head and I grinned down at him. He wasn’t wrong. I was insatiable this time around.
It was much easier being a wolf and pregnant with a wolf. Even if the pregnancy seemed to be moving fast. I didn’t mind though. Having children close in age made my Alphas happy, which made me happy.
“The realm is misbehaving,” Kai said in a somber tone, changing the teasing vibe instantly. I tensed on Derik, and he sucked in a breath, his eyes fluttering closed as he regained control. I was still on him, my pussy clutching him. Oops.
“How?” Brax asked, going to the window. Kai nodded to the sky above the window. It was gray. Dark clouds swirled in the sky, with angry thrashes of lightning piercing them. I raised a brow.
“Lightning? That hasn’t been seen in–“
“Since the war,” Derik whispered, sitting up slowly, not moving me off him.
“Which means?” I asked, taking another sip of tea, hoping it would calm my racing heart.
“That the realm isn’t happy with the balance. That something is upsetting it. We have to make things right or it will retaliate,” Derik sighed, rubbing his hands over his face.
I grimaced, the stress coming right back to settle in my chest. “How do we fix it?”
“We figure out what is making it unbalanced,” Brax said, rubbing the back of his neck as he went to the wardrobe to get some more clothes out.
“The rogues. They just declared war,” I assumed, but Kai shook his head, turning to me.
“No. We’ve been at war with the vampires and the humans; the realm let it happen. This is something more. Whatever the rogues are doing to win this war, the realm is letting it be known that it is not in agreement,” he frowned.
He put his cup down and I slowly climbed off Derik, already missing the feeling of him inside me.
I put my cup down too and got dressed. It was time to get back to reality then.
I put on a deep red dress with jewels along the neckline and a non-restrictive flow from the tight breast part. It had a curved neckline and sheer sleeves.
It was one of my Alphas’ favorites.
“That is cruel, Spitfire,” Brax said, coming out of the wardrobe dressed in his leathers.
I smiled, going to my vanity and putting on my red lipstick. My mother had worked with the humans to create it using berries and candle wax. My Alphas also loved that.
“A beautiful dress for a beautiful temptress,” Derik kissed my cheek, heading into the bathroom to wash off.
Kai grabbed me from behind, spinning me to him.
He swiped his tongue along my lips. “Mmm. Ravishing Little Luna,” he kissed me again, devouring my mouth in a kiss that made me reconsider going back to reality.
Kai grinned as he pulled away and I pouted.
“Test my control, Little Luna, and it will be a win for us both,” he winked, then went to the door. “I’m going to go check on the training field. My pack is working in shifts patrolling and training. We’ll be ready for those fucking rogues whenever they decide to make a move,” Kai said forcefully, then left the room.
He had been running the patrol packs ragged with demands. A tyrant Alpha, but they understood why. So did I.
We were at war; it had been declared and I hadn’t been alive when the last war hit, but I knew the stories.
Wars were messy, violent, bloody, and filled with loss.
It wasn’t something I wanted to experience in my lifetime, but it was here whether I wanted it or not.
Brax grabbed my hand and led me towards the door.
“We’ll go check if the twins have woken from their nap, then I was heading to the gardens and barn to check on our supplies since winter wiped us out. Want to join?” he asked.
I nodded quickly and went with him to the nursery.
I smiled when I saw our twins in the crib, babbling away at each other.
Zale was sitting up, playing with Enzi’s cuddly toy.
“Zale. Enzi.” I smiled, going to them with Brax.
They kicked happily seeing us. Enzi squealed and Zale reached his arms up.
They were both so advanced it was amazing to see what new things they had picked up.
I picked up Zale and cuddled him; he sucked at my shoulder and I laughed.
“Hungry?” I asked him. He smiled and I tucked him into my side.
Brax cuddled Enzi into him and we took them down to the dining hall.
Some of the guards who were having breaks were there and greeted us as we came in, smiling at the heirs.
We sat with them, feeding them, and having our meals together. Derik joined us and it felt so good.
Like I could pretend we weren’t in a war.
But we were.
And that sentiment was rammed home when the entire mansion shook and a massive explosion went off in the city.
The room moved, the roof cracking slightly, releasing debris over the table.
I threw a shield around the twins, a piece falling and bouncing off it as they ate in their wooden highchairs.
Derik batted back a larger piece that almost got me as Brax barked orders at the guards on break.
They weren’t anymore.
‘Kai!’ I called down the link, needing to know if he was okay. I couldn’t feel any of his pain, but he hadn’t said anything.
‘It hit the school,’ Kai said in the link, his voice full of pain in my head.
I choked on the emotion that tried to come out, my eyes stinging, trying to leak.
‘Was anyone hurt?’ I was scared to finish the question.
“We’re still going through the rubble. But it’s been leveled. The wolves are bringing pails of water to put out the fires before it spreads, but it’s bad. You guys should get here,” Kai said without any of his usually challenging, cocky attitude.
That was enough to have me grabbing the twins and heading out with Derik and Brax.
I didn’t trust anyone else with them while explosions were going off.
It made no sense that these threats were coming at us.
The rogues were wolves; how were they getting close enough to blow things up without being sensed?
If we couldn’t even sense them, then how the hell were we meant to win this war?

“The rogues have gone too far,” Derik said bitterly as he stood at the council table, brushing rubble from his tucked-in linen shirt.
