I gulped and looked at Lorelai.
She laughed, “Same,” she said off-handedly but it made Kai frown.
It took him as long as it took me to bolt over the counter and to the other side of the room for him to figure it out.

He stalked me around the counter and I looked to Lorelai.

Kai frowned, “What did he do to earn a test like that, Little Luna?” he brushed her hair behind her ear.
She smiled and held his hand, “Nothing, Kai. It is forgotten. But I was thinking that if you are heading to training, I could join you?” she asked.
Both Kai and I shared a look. Derik would kill us. Both of us.
Kai hesitated as she looked up at him with pleading eyes.
She could get anything out of him with a look like that, and I wanted nothing to do with it.
Derik would find out because he always did, and it would send him off the deep end.
“Derik will have a heart attack, Kai. If you take her, it’s on you,” I left him there, walking away towards the suite.
The last things I heard before heading upstairs was Lorelai challenging Kai.
“I thought you weren’t afraid of Derik?”
Kai was quiet for a second then put the nail in his own coffin, “I’m not. Come on.”
I was going to bed in the twins’ room so when Derik went on his rampage, I would be immune.
