Rachel took a deep breath to suppress the depression in her heart. She looked up at David, who raised his wine glass toward her and sincerely asked her for a chance. In the end, she toasted him across the table and said, “Mr. Jones, I hope you won’t regret your choice.”
“I won’t. Time will help me prove it to you.”
After the meal, they left the restaurant. David proposed to send Rachel home.
Seeing that David insisted on it, Rachel could only agree. So she stood at the roadside and
waited patiently for David to drive the car over. Meanwhile, she sent a message to her driver and told him not to pick her up.
Olivia happened to walk out from another restaurant not far away and saw Rachel at a glance. In an instant, a hint of coldness flashed across Olivia’s eyes. “Louis, look! Rachel should be waiting for a taxi there. Why don’t we send her home?”
Olivia acted like a spoiled child, and Louis looked at her dotingly. “She won’t agree to take our car. So you’d better not provoke her.”
Olivia felt a little upset and lowered her eyes. “It’s so late, and I’m just worried that a girl like her would be in danger if she went home alone. Since you don’t want to see her, just forget it and pretend not to see her.”
Olivia said with an ingratiating smile. Louis couldn’t help but feel pity for her. He sighed and compromised. “If you insist on it, you can go ask her. I want to go to the parking lot and get the car.”
“Okay!” Olivia put on a bright smile. “Louis, I know you love me most.”
After Louis turned and left, the smile on Olivia’s face disappeared immediately.
Olivia walked toward Rachel step by step and looked at Rachel’s unguarded back, her eyes carrying a fierce viciousness.
With cat–like tread, Olivia Cruise crept up behind Rachel Grey, then lunged forward and shoved her with all her might, pushing her onto the road.
Without warning, the powerful force jolted Rachel from behind, hurtling her onto the busy street. She teetered in the middle of the road, and as she fought to regain her balance, a speeding car hurtled toward her from the opposite direction.
Thankfully, the driver spotted Rachel just in time and skillfully swerved the car to avoid hitting her in a close call.
As the car zoomed past Rachel, she felt a sudden gust of wind nearly knocking her off her feet. She stumbled for a moment but then regained her footing.
Everything happened in an instant, catching her off guard.
The driver suddenly rolled down the window and shouted at Rachel, “What the hell do you think you’re doing? Do you want to die? Get out of here, and don’t mess with me!” Rachel was visibly shaken. Her face turned pale, and her fingers curled tightly as if she had seen a ghost.
It wasn’t until the car had gone that her mind finally returned to reality.
Rachel spun around and saw Olivia standing on the sidewalk, her face radiating with youthful innocence and a broad smile on her lips. But Rachel’s expression swiftly transformed, her features taking on an icy, frosty veneer like winter had descended upon her face.
As Rachel’s almond–shaped eyes narrowed into slits, ominous darkness crept into their depths. Her hands, previously hanging by her sides, balled up into fists so tightly that her knuckles turned white.
She pondered, “If that car hadn’t dodged me in time, I’d have been flung over ten meters away by now.
“I had no interest in getting mixed up with someone as vile as Olivia, but she is practically begging for trouble!”
She flicked her hand and undid the buttons on her suit jacket, sending a chill down Olivia’s spine. With each purposeful step, she emanated an aura of intimidation.
Olivia gazed at her with an innocent expression and said, “Rachel, I was just trying to have a little fun with you…”
Rachel’s hand snapped forward and landed a resounding slap across Olivia’s face, silencing her.
Her face was knocked to the side by the force of a slap. Then, before she could even react, Rachel struck her with another powerful blow to the face.
Rachel put all her strength into the two slaps, and in no time, Olivia’s face turned red and swollen, with traces of blood oozing from the corner of her mouth.
At first, Olivia was confident that she had the upper hand. She assumed that Rachel was intimidated by the powerful Cruise and Smith families backing her up. After all, compared
to Rachel, who lacked any influential connections, crushing her would be a piece of cake for either of those families.
However, she never expected that Rachel would have the guts to lay her hands on her in public.
Olivia covered her face and looked pitifully at Rachel. “Rachel, I was just messing with you! Why’d you have to take it so seriously?” Unfortunately, her status as a public figure made it difficult for her to strike back, so she resorted to acting like a helpless puppy.
Rachel’s lips curled into a smile, but her eyes betrayed an icy coldness. “Just messing with me? Then let’s play!” she said, her voice dripping with sarcasm.
She acted quickly, grabbing Olivia by the hair and lifting her from the ground like a limp rag doll.
Olivia felt like her scalp was being torn apart. Then, baring her teeth, she shouted, “What the hell, Rachel! Let me go!”
With her hysterical scream followed by a sharp ‘click, the bone made a crisp sound that sent shivers down the spine.
It felt as though Olivia’s arm had been wrenched out of its socket, hanging limp at her side. Rachel had dislocated Olivia’s arm!
“I told you not to mess with me. So why haven’t you learned your lesson yet?” Rachel looked down at Olivia, who was now on the ground, with a mixture of pity and regret in her eyes. Olivia’s arm throbbed with intense pain that she turned pale, and cold sweat began beading on her temples. Her eyes blazed with fury as she fixed them on Rachel. Then, through gritted teeth, she spat out each word. “Rachel Grey, you dirty bitch!”
“I must admit, it seems my two slaps were a bit too gentle just now!”
Suddenly, Louis Smith burst in on them, his voice booming. “Rachel Grey, what on earth are you up to?” He stormed over to Rachel and seized her hand, his voice dripping with anger. “Olivia came to you with nothing but good intentions, but look at what you’ve done!”
“Louis…” Seeing Louis coming forward, Olivia hurriedly snuggled into his arms as if seizing a life–saving straw. Her body trembled uncontrollably, and she said with a slight tremor, “I was just joking with Rachel. I didn’t expect her to take it seriously…”
Tears continuously rolled down her cheeks as Olivia complained to Louis.
Nearly feeling heartbroken when seeing Olivia’s tearful face, Louis secretly gritted his teeth and asked coldly, “Rachel Grey, you must have heard it. Olivia said she was joking. Is it necessary for you to hit her so hard?”
“Joking?” Rachel’s lips curved into a sarcastic smile, and she rebutted, “Who would take others‘ life as a joke? Oh, I forgot that Olivia is the best person in the world for you. Even if she farts, you will think it smells like perfume!”
What the hell? Why is Olivia trying to kill Rachel when Rachel not even giving them the time of day?
