“I’ll call everyone to the dining hall then,” Derik smiled. He kissed my lips then did just that.
I grinned and looked down at my children.
“We’re going to make sure you know a different world than we have,” I promised on a whisper then left my shadows with them and moved with my Alphas to the dining hall.
The wolves sat in the dining hall and the link was full of anxiety. The last time we had called on them, we had announced a traitor.
And then interrogated them.
They had accepted it because they were loyal but I understood why it made them uneasy.
We moved onto the platform and Derik called them to attention.
“Wolves!”
They quietened and he looked over his shoulder at me, “Our Luna has an idea to share with you.”
I thought he had been going to share the plan.
Clearly not.
I stepped forward, glad I had worn a nice dress after Brax had torn mine earlier.
“Wolves. First, I wanted to say thank you for letting us into your minds, showing us your loyalty and trusting us that much,” I said.
They murmured, shifting like they were waiting for the shoe to drop.
The tension was thick, the wolves on the edges of their seats.
“The traitor has been dealt with and I must reveal that we gave you a drink, a potion at the dinner before the interrogations. It counteracts what the rogues are doing to hide themselves,” I explained.
There was a lot of whispers and murmurs on that one. I looked back at Derik. He made it look so easy standing at the front. He nodded at me, encouraging me to keep going.
“So we can sense them now?” Taylor asked.
I nodded, “They can’t hide from us. Their scent is discoverable like usual. To all of us except the young. Which is why I think it’s about time we use that to our advantage and take the fight to them. I propose that we attack the rogues head on,” I said, worried they were going to be angry.
We hadn’t asked about the potion. I was telling them I wanted them to go out there and fight.
It wasn’t exactly safe. But it was better than sitting here collecting information as the rogues and witches wanted us to have it.
The pack seemed to agree because in the next moment, cheers and roars applauded through the dining hall.
I grinned as they all stamped their feet, banged their tables, let out huge ‘whoop’ sounds.
I laughed as they celebrated.
“Wolves!” Derik called. They quietened and he nodded to me, “Your Luna is still talking.”
They all grinned at me, fire back in their eyes that had been missing.
“I know usually we send warriors but this city belongs to us all. We all know how to fight, have had the basic training.
We all need to be on board to defend this city and save it from the rogues. I want to send out multiple hunting parties, made up of warriors and wolves of all kinds to give the rogues a taste of their own medicine. What do you say?” I asked.
The same eruption of cheers went through the room.
The worry I’d had dissipated at the happiness that saturated the link. The wolves wanted to fight back. It was worth the risk in their mind too.
We couldn’t do anything before, shackled by the traitor who was sharing all our plans, all our intentions to attack.
Now we had the element of surprise.
“One more thing!” I called. They hushed quickly, “Before you decide, you need to know what we have just found out.” I took a deep breath before revealing the final tie breaker, “The rogues are turning humans into betas. It is why the vampires are protecting the humans now. So the rogues do have the newly trained, perfect soldiers on their side,” I said then waited for that to sink in.
The room was still for a moment, all the wolves looking between each other.
But the link strengthened, the loyalty to the family solidifying.
Taylor stood up then, “We are a pack. A family. If we fight together, our bond will be as strong as any beta. We still want to fight.”
She met my eyes, her loyalty unwavering. It was refreshing after how we had started. But I knew now that had been because of her loyalty. She had worried what a human could do to her pack. Her family. Especially a winterborn.
Now she knew what I would do to it. I would bring it together. Strengthen it.
I nodded to her in thanks, then looked over our family.
Wolves of all shapes, sizes, and faces.
And they were ready to fight for it.
I grinned, “Good then tonight we eat, we feast, we enjoy our last night because tomorrow, we start fighting back.”
The wolves did exactly that, in high spirits for a change as the food came out.
I wasn’t particularly hungry but enjoyed a sip of wine as it was brought to me.
Kai stole my mouth after my sip.
“Our Little Luna,” he whispered, leaning his forehead against mine.
I smiled, closing my eyes with him.
A hand slipped into mine and I looked over at Derik.
He was pleased, his smile genuine and wide.
I moved into him, kissing him too.
Derik’s hands moved to my waist, our kiss deepening.
Until Brax grabbed my hand and spun me to him, “My turn,” he smirked, grabbing my face, stealing my lips for his.
I pulled away, grinning at my Alphas.
Tomorrow was a new day. A new, brighter day. We had fight back in us and we were ready to use it.
25. The Plan
Lorelai
Derik’s hand clamped over my mouth as I tried to cry out. His tall body spooned mine, his cock thrusting inside me as we lay on the side together.
My body tensed, my core alight with flames he made burn hotter.
“Shh, Beautiful, you’ll wake the savages,” he whispered in a panted breath against my ear.
That had me biting into his hand trying to stop the moan escaping.
His hand moved down to play with my clit. I bucked against the feeling.
My eyes and jaw clenched shut as I fought the lust and desire, refusing to let it make me scream.
It was impossible to do with Derik steadily stroking my pussy with his cock.
I dug my fingers into his muscled thigh that lay along mine, trying to let out the tension.
It had him meeting my hips with even deeper strokes.
My walls clamped on his and I shuddered, the pleasure building higher and higher.
Brax stirred, curled up at the end of the bed. Derik paused his thrusts and I almost whimpered.
His hand covered my mouth again. He peppered kisses over my shoulder and my neck.
