Scarlett:
I watched as Alexander walked toward Luna Katelyn through the bedroom’s window.
His eyes were wide with anger, and for a second, I worried about something happening between them; however, I knew better than to interfere between them. She was his mother, and he was the pack’s Alpha. He knew better than to harm her, and she would know better than to cross her limits with him, if any between a mother and her child.
“Hello, you” I smiled, watching as the nurse walked inside carrying my baby girl. I was getting ready to head down, knowing that there were neighboring packs that were coming today. The pack members have done wrong by crossing the territory’s boundaries, and now we were having the pack members coming over to settle the issue once and for all. The fact that they were warned last month was something, but for them to do it again this month, now that was an issue.
“We had her changed like you asked, Luna” the nurse said, taking me off guard. No one has called me Luna in this pack for a long while now, not since Alexander told them not to, but I am guessing that me staying in his room did change something. He even had the maids bring in my clothes here, and my personal belongings were brought in by me.
“Thank you” I said, smiling at the nurse, already knowing that she was wearing her new pink dress. It was one that Alexander bought for her last month, and seeing as it was still too big for her, she was barely able to wear it today. I put her on the bed, between a few pillows that I centered for her, and turning to my dresser, I went to get her a pink ribbon. The nurse gasped, and frowning, I turned to face my daughter who was now laying on her stomach, looking at the two of us. My eyes widened in surprise, and a wide smile formed on my lips before I rushed toward her, lifting her in my arms. I kissed her cheeks, and pulled her to my chest, she giggled and grabbed my hair, making me laugh.
I removed her hand from my hair, and sat on the edge of the bed, putting her on my lap to try and fix the ribbon; however, growing excited, my little one tried to roll again despite not even laying completely. I laughed and shook my head at her, my laugh making my heart skip a beat as I realized that it had been a while since I’ve truly laughed or smiled. I knew that it was due to last night’s shift. My wolf, who has been closed up since the rejection, was now relaxed and more at ease, and I knew that it reflected on me as well.
The bedroom’s door was knocked twice, breaking my train of thoughts just as I tied the ribbon on Anastasia’s head. Her short blonde hair making me smile before I kissed the crown of her head. I looked at the door to find that it opened, revealing Alexander, who I already caught the scent of. His eyes met mine and he smiled, watching as the nurse walked out of the room, leaving the two of us alone. I went to get up; however, he shook his head, stopping me before walking toward me and kissing the crown of my head. He let his lips linger there for a few seconds before pulling away to take our daughter in his arms. His muscles were tense, and I wasn’t sure whether it was because of his conversation with his mother or the pack members, but I knew that his calm demeanor was no longer there. /
“She rolled over for the first time today” I said, crossing my arms over my chest as I looked at him. Alexander’s eyes widened in surprise, and looking at our daughter, he smiled and kissed her cheek, letting his scruff tickle her a bit “do you want to tell me what’s bothering you?”
Alexander hesitated for a second before he nodded at me to take a seat on the edge of the bed. The fact that he hadn’t said a word since entering the room told me that it was more serious than I thought it would be, and I knew that the situation of the coming wolves was not going to be that difficult to handle; therefore, I knew that it was something else.
The two of us sat down, and looking at our daughter, Alexander’s eyes softened for a second before•, pain ‘filled them “can I ask why didn’t you tell me about your argument with mom?”
“Alexander…”
“Scarlett, she humiliated you and as her Luna, she…”
“Alexander, the woman is your mother, and I couldn’t have put you in this situation. I know that it won’t be one that I would like to be in; therefore, I didn’t want you to be in conflict with her because of me” I said, stopping him ‘1 didn’t mean to piss you off, my apologies, ..”
“I heard the two of you, if you’re curious about what happened or how I found Out I have been noticing that she’s been hard on you, but I never expected her to actually insult you that way” Alexander said, making me smile. I put my hand on his knee, and squeezing it gently, he smiled at me, somewhat allowing himself to relax.
“I did not ask for the details, Alexander. Yes, I did grow a little upset, and I did not like what happened, however, I was not going to put you in a difficult situation, regardless of the circumstance” I said, smiling when he leaned in to kiss me. His lips brushed against my own, and looking between the two of us, she giggled, breaking our moment, making us laugh. I blushed and shook my head before kissing the crown of her head. Alexander smiled at our sight before cupping my cheek with his right hand. He kissed my temple, letting his lips linger there for a second before pulling away to look at me.
“I am glad to see that you’re smiling again, Scar” Alexander said, using the nickname that he used to call me when we were younger. My heart skipped a beat and 1 bit my bottom lip to prevent my smile from growing even bigger than it already was.
“I have to thank you for that, actually” I said, blushing, making him shake his head in question “my smile only formed because of you…”
“Alpha Alexander” Alpha Daryl, one of the neighboring pack members said, entering the house. I stood back, allowing the Alphas to talk, and catching the sight of his Luna, I smiled and welcomed her inside. The two of us knew better than to speak when our Alphas were talking or better than to interrupt when they were. Therefore, the two of us smiled at one another and simply stayed quiet.
“You do realize that this is the second time they have crossed their pack’s boundaries, right? Had we not recognized them as your pack members, we could have easily killed them” Alpha Daryl said, and Alexander nodded. It was true, usually anyone entering different pack grounds would have been killed on sight, and that could have led to a big problem between both packs; however, I was thankful that things passed without the need for that.
“I am aware, Alpha Daryl, and I can assure you that it won’t happen again. You know how new shifters can be difficult at times, and I don’t like to be too aggressive with the younger wolves” Alexander said, trying to explain the situation to the Alpha. The one difference was, Alpha Daryl was not as merciful. The man was known for his cold heart, and many of his pack members who have run away from the pack, choosing to be rogue rather than have him as Alpha have spread his rumors. Some even chose to seek refuge here, and at times, Alexander would agree to take them in, claiming that they had found their mates to keep them safe. He was not titled as the Alpha of Alphas for no reason, and despite it not being official, many of the wolves saw him as that.
“And that is ‘what happens when you choose to be lenient” Alpha Daryl said, looking at his Luna who flinched, making me frown. I knew that Alexander was harsh when he wanted to be, but I would rarely ever flinch, even on our bad days, when he looked at me; however, the woman seemed to be genuinely scared of the man. The way his eyes met hers, and the way she looked down at her feet told me that she has been through a lot more than she showed.
“Each Alpha has his own methods, I do not judge yours, and I will request that you do not judge mine” Alexander said, his tone hardening for a second, making my chest ache. His wolf, who was initially calm, tensed, getting ready for a fight; however, Alpha Daryl thankfully shrugged, choosing to drop the subject.
“As long as you keep your pack members within your ground or at least, out of mine, I don’t think that we should have a problem” Alpha Daryl said, grabbing his mate’s arm roughly. I wanted to speak up; however, Alexander wrapping his arm around me, stopped me. His eyes met mine, and I got his silent message. He did not want me interfering. I bit my bottom lip before forcing myself to stay quiet, knowing to submit to my Alpha before the man dragged his woman out of the house without bothering to even stay for coffee.
Aiexander turned to look at me, his eyes hardening for a second before he spoke, his tone harsher than it had ever been before, making my chest ache as the feeling of being safe completely left me ungrounded.
“Act like a Luna, and not this…” he said, looking me up and down “we do not interfere with other pack businesses as long as they do not concern us, and they do not interfere in ours, do you understand me?”
