“She took the liberty of explaining a few things about this ball and the traditions involved before we arrived,” Derik explained. “And you didn’t think I should know of this explanation?”
Brax grabbed me and pulled me into him, kissing me. “And ruin the game? Nah,” he smirked, pulling back.
Derik put his arm through mine as Kai opened the door into the hall. “It was a fun game,” I admitted, my stomach still rolling with leftover embers of heat. “But how did you make the link disappear? I couldn’t even sense you?”
“Evelyn. She makes the candles and put some herbs in the ones in the room that took away the senses, they’ll come back soon,” Brax said. Wow, they really had thought of everything.
Kai led us down the hall, Brax on my other side as we made our way back to the ball. “It seems the vampires don’t have sticks as far up their asses as I had once assumed,” Kai grinned as he opened the doors to the hall and I saw the vampires we had left.
I sucked in a breath, seeing exactly what he meant. The vampires were all over the ballroom, but they were no longer dancing. Every single one of them was engaged in carnal activities like the ones I had just been engaging in with my Alphas.
Clothes were hanging off bodies, strewn over the floor. But they all wore masks. My eyebrows shot up as I suddenly felt overdressed.
The room was bathed in red candlelight and shadows. The music had changed to a seductive tune that seemed to be perfectly in harmony with the bodies moving over the room. On the floor, against the walls, in the booths along the wall, on the buffet table. Even on the stairs leading up to the throne. Lucien was covered in male and female vampires, kissing, biting, pleasuring.
The embers in my core erupted in flames at the vampire orgy I was witnessing. “This is their annual tradition?” I whispered.
“Yes. Lucien assumed because of who we were, we would enjoy it too. Once we found out, we considered declining. We don’t want the vampires seeing you like that. But then Evelyn had another solution,” Brax grinned.
“Wait, so that whole, ‘be quiet so they don’t hear you’ was all bullshit?” I growled under my breath.
Derik chuckled, “A slight bend of the truth. They would have heard you, but they didn’t care.”
“Oh that was cruel,” I huffed.
“Stop sulking, Little Luna. We can still smell the arousal on your body from our bullshit. Don’t pretend you didn’t enjoy every minute of it,” Kai smirked then pulled me out of Brax and Derik’s hold to kiss me.
I sighed into a kiss and he moved us back into the wall, deepening our kiss. His tongue swiped along mine and I fell into the desire that clouded my judgement.
“Enjoying the night, Luna?” A voice I recognized said from beside us.
Kai pulled back and I looked down to where Evelynn was sitting on one of the red velvet settees. She was dressed in a scrap of silk, her heels high. Her five warriors stood, stoic and wary as they eyed everything. Desire rolled off them and I raised a brow at her.
“Very much. You?” I asked, not sure why she wasn’t involving herself in the tradition.
She smirked, “Much more than my warriors. Poor things are learning the hard way that I mean what I say.”
I glanced up at them. Each one wore a pained expression I didn’t envy. “Is this night for vampires like the heat is for wolves?” I asked.
Evelyn nodded, “Essentially.”
Oh. Yeah, I did feel bad for her warriors then. I had tried to resist my Alphas like that during the last heat and it had not worked at all. “And you don’t feel it?” I wondered as Kai pulled me to stand in front of him. He wrapped his arms around me, kissing over my shoulder and neck.
Derik and Brax moved closer, standing in front of me so I couldn’t see much of the orgy that was happening in front of us. “I feel it. As much as them I would guess.”
“So why not take what you want for yourself? No reason you should suffer with them,” I grinned.
Her red-lipped smile grew as she looked over her shoulder at the two white-haired warrior twins on either side of her. “I should allow them my body for the purpose of my pleasure not theirs?” She understood.
I shrugged, “I would,” I grinned.
Evelyn grinned and turned to her warriors, “You will make me come?” She asked them.
“We will worship you,” the one with straight hair promised.
She huffed, “Fine. To the tower with you then.”
They started moving and the one with wavy hair nodded in thanks to me as he passed. I smirked as Evelyn winked then disappeared upstairs with her warriors. I had never seen them walk so fast.
I laughed and turned to my Alphas, “To the carriage with us then?”
“We should probably say goodbye-” Derik glanced over at Lucien who was in the middle of fucking three people, “-Nevermind.”
We made our way to the doors of the ballroom, avoiding clothing and body parts as we did. We strode down the red carpet to the waiting carriage and I climbed in, my Alphas after me.
“I like this vampire tradition,” I admitted, “I wish it wasn’t ending,” I finished, looking out of the carriage as we rode away.
Brax leaned in, his lips by my ear, “Who says it’s finished, Spitfire?”
He flashed his eyes at me, his canines dropping as he grazed them along my neck. Derik went to his knees in the carriage, his canines out. Kai smirked, pulling my face to his so he could kiss me.
“We will worship you,” Kai imitated the vamp then grinned and sunk his fangs into the other side of my neck.
All three of my Alphas spent the rest of the hidden moon night worshipping me in true vampire fashion.

1. The Captive
“Let me out!” I screamed for what felt like the millionth time. My voice echoed off the dungeon walls, nothing answering my cries.
But I hadn’t expected them to.
Vampires were patient creatures, and after years of being their prisoner, I knew I was wasting my breath thinking they would actually let me out.
But I was also stubborn as hell and a sucker for punishment.
So I kept screaming.
My throat was dry, my voice hoarse, but I was not giving up.
Apparently, they weren’t either.
Especially not tonight when the blood moon was rising.
Concrete walls surrounded me; a small stone grate at the top of the cell let in the icy cold winds of night.
But it was always night in the vampire territory.
At least I could see the stars through the tiny hole in my concrete cell. They gave me a comfort I couldn’t explain.
But tonight I would find nothing but pain.
I had been with the vampires long enough to know that.
The full moons were bad enough, the vampires using me as a toy for their sadism every full moon in hopes they would hear my voice like they had all those years ago.
But I wasn’t using it again. I had learned my lesson.
But tonight was different. It was the blood moon. They were stronger, and they had made sure I was weaker.
I hadn’t eaten in four days. They had barely let me sleep. They had spent their days mocking and taunting me about what was coming–all so I would be as weak as possible against them for the blood moon.
I was terrified they were going to succeed this time.
But I promised I wouldn’t give up–that I wouldn’t use my voice for them. It had been the last promise my mother had ever made me make. I intended to keep it.
Even if they tortured me for hours.
Even if the urge to sing grew when I was around them.
My hands clutched the poles of the cell door, and I screamed again.
A vampire I had come to know well in the last few years came in with a wicked smirk.
He wasn’t like the others. He was pure evil, and I didn’t need the magic in my veins to know that. It was all in his deep, dark eyes that made contact with mine.
“Hush now, Kassandra. Don’t wear out that pretty throat for later,” he taunted, standing with his legs astride, his waist-height staff between his legs as he leaned on it with clasped hands.
He was pale, almost white in skin, his hair slicked back, long and straight. It was whiter than snow and made his dark eyes look even more terrifying.
“You will get nothing but screams from me whether I am here or there,” I snapped, backing up in my cell.
