Jeremy clenched his hands into fists. His lips were pursed into a thin line, and his face was dark as an impending storm.
“Lia, don’t follow Allison into whatever she bids! Ten million is too much!” Rosaline held Liana’s hand. Her palms were sweating as she advised her.
Alyssa smiled mockingly. It seemed like she was about to raise the paddle, but she refrained.
“Ten million! Sold! Congratulations to Miss Liana from the Gardner Group for acquiring the famous painting!”
Liana’s face was flushed with joy, feeling triumphant. She thought she had outshined that despicable woman.
However, Rosaline felt her heart sink. Her face froze into a frown.
At that moment, Sean watched the situation unfold through his phone from outside the bidding hall Jeremy’s heart belonged to someone else. There were times when he felt Allison was wasting her life and beauty being with him.
His gaze wandered toward her and finally fell on her slender wrist. Sure enough, she was still wearing the bracelet his grandfather gave her.
Even though it didn’t match her outfit today, she couldn’t bear to take it off. It was obvious she loved it.
Jeremy narrowed his eyes, and his heart was racing.
The Georgian Sky–Blue Porcelain Chalices attracted intense bidding. The auctioneer was overwhelmed!
“One million!”
Twenty–five million!”
“Twenty–seven million!”
“Forty million.”
Jeremy elegantly raised his bidding paddle. He constantly called out the highest number in the whole room.
Everyone was taken aback. Alyssa was also surprised and glanced at him inadvertently.
This man didn’t have a good eye for women, but his taste for antiques was pristine.
Jeremy noticed her gaze. His dark and amber eyes swept over, locking with her gaze.
Immediately, he was stung by her cold and intense gaze. His heart began to tighten.
Alyssa averted her gaze and looked away.
In the end, Jeremy won the pair of Georgian Sky–Blue Porcelain Chalices. The valuables were now part of his collection.
The crowd was jealous of him.
“In the future, you can serve me wine in these chalices. A forty million cup suits my taste,”
Landon said with a smile.
“This cup is too small. It’s not enough for you to drink. I have a bigger one that suits your status better,” Jeremy replied coldly.
“What’s that?”
“A toilet.
Landon’s face turned dark, “Damn it! That’s not what I meant!”
Alyssa accidentally overheard them. She turned away to hide her amusement.
Liana was distressed. Jeremy spent forty million just to buy a pair of cups.
What on earth was he thinking? Wasn’t it better to buy a villa for forty million?
She hadn’t even married into the Walsh family yet, but she was already worried about how their money was spent “The next item up for auction is of great significance. It’s a personal collection of an anonymous gentleman for fifty years. An Antique Rosewood Chair!”
The auctioneer introduced the chair with great enthusiasm. It was placed in a glass display and carefully brought up by four staff members in gloves.
“Here it is!” Landon patted Jeremy.
The next moment, he noticed Jeremy and Alyssa propped up. Their backs straightened in perfect sync as their movements aligned. They were all poised and determined to win!
“The starting price is thirty million! Bidding begins now!”
Wealthy businessmen and investment bankers raised their bidder numbers one after another, and the auctioneer kept calling out prices. It made the competition intense.
Thirty million was the highest starting price for tonight’s items!
Sophia and Betty, the attention–seeking pair, hesitated when they heard the price. The Gardner family had long become spectators. They blend in perfectly with the flower baskets at the back.
At this moment, someone raised their hand elegantly. “Sixty million,” the bidder said calmly.
People were shocked, and all eyes turned to Alyssa, who was holding up the bidder number!
The mysterious lady was very conceited. However, her actions continued to astonish the audience.
“Mom, did I hear it right?”
Betty was in disbelief, a look of surprise plastered on her face. “That country girl bid 60
million? How could she ask for such a high price?! Is she putting on an act?”
Sophia remained silent, but her cold gaze was fixed on Alyssa. Suddenly, she recalled something and turned to look at Winston’s second wife, Mandy.
A cold smile crept on her lips as a smug thought crossed her mind. She wondered if Allison could survive the Taylor family if she wanted to go from rags to riches.
“70 million,” Jeremy said and raised the paddle calmly. The light shone on him, creating an outline of his silhouette. He looked so stunning that it was hard for anyone to look away.
He had raised the price to a new height. It left others determined to bid frustrated as they didn’t have the means.
“75 million.”
Alyssa didn’t falter. She raised the paddle again without hesitation.
The crowd once again erupted in a frenzy!
Even Landon, who was used to big occasions, dared not speak. He felt like he was witnessing a confrontation between two peerless cowboys in a standoff. The two were throwing shots at each other, about to create a storm that could engulf everything.
“80 million.”
Alyssa remained calm and composed. However, she was frowning slightly.
She was beginning to feel the pressure. She had put in much effort to help Jonah obtain the chair.
Alyssa licked her lips, and a wave of determination surged in her heart. She didn’t need Jonah to reimburse her as she could compete with Jeremy using her private funds. However, she also knew -when to cut her losses and weigh the pros and cons.
