River looked at him, confusion flickering in her eyes. ‘How could he say this? If it weren’t for him, would I be facing this situation today? If he had let me go earlier, everything would have ended in the best way.‘

Suppressing the ache within her, River pursed her lips and said, “Well, I should thank you for your kindness.”

Noah gradually clenched his fists, his gaze fixed on her indifferent cheek. “Rest well. Just sleep.”

With that, he stood up and left the bedroom.

River pulled the blanket over herself, lying in bed as she stared blankly at the ceiling.

She needed to rest and recover. If she didn’t, she would never witness Daniella’s fall from her lofty position into the deep abyss.

At half past ten that night, Paige called River.

She quickly answered the phone and asked hurriedly, “How did it go? Did you find any detailed clues or bank transfer records? Has she been keeping in touch with Nicholas all this while?”

Paige remained silent for a moment on the other end of the phone. “River…”

A sinking feeling settled in River’s heart. She blinked back tears and urged, “Please continue.”

“She had downloaded some kind of app on her phone that automatically deletes all calls and messages immediately after they are made or sent. There’s nothing suspicious in her current bank transfer records. Nothing aligns with our suspicions. I suspect she didn’t use her card for the transfer…”

River initially registered Paige’s words, but soon her comprehension faltered.

‘How did it come to this… The evidence to expose Daniella is right in front of me, yet I didn’t anticipate it would be futile. I’ve only managed to entangle myself in this mess.‘

“River…” Paige’s voice came through in a worried whisper.

With a determined effort, River steadied her voice. “Thank you, Paige. I’ll end the call now.”

Paige sighed in response. “Alright, don’t worry. I’ll keep brainstorming ideas to help you.”

River ended the call and rested her forehead on her knees. Tremors wracked her body as she/ wept.

Meanwhile, Noah received a call from Reuben in his study. “Mr. De Marco, our team traced the IP address of that individual. By the time they arrived, the person had already fled.”

Silence enveloped Noah as he rhythmically tapped his fingers on the table.

After returning to International Residence, Daniella unleashed her anger by smashing various objects in her room.

Why did he let River stay in Villa Rosa? Why was she the one driven out instead? Was he treating her this way because of a mere housemaid? She couldn’t understand his actions at all.

Lost in her thoughts, her phone suddenly rang.

Daniella hastily grabbed her phone and, upon seeing the caller ID, answered immediately.

“Grandpa…” Grayson heard the strain in Daniella’s voice and quickly inquired, “Ella, what’s wrong? Who has hurt you?”

Daniella was about to explain when she was suddenly struck by a sharp pain in her abdomen.

She lowered her head and saw blood staining the floor. Her face turned pale, and she cried out, Grandpa, I’m bleeding. My baby…”

Anxious, Grayson responded, “Ella, don’t panic. I will call 911 for you right away. Just wait for me. I’m coming.”

Half an hour later, Daniella found herself lying in a hospital ward, an IV drip attached to the back of her hand.

Grayson arrived at the hospital with Neil in tow.

Upon seeing Daniella alone in the ward, his expression darkened imely

“Ella, why isn’t Noah with you?”

Through her weak sobs, Daniella replied, “Grandpa, Noah is busy. I didn’t want to bother him.”

“What’s more important than your baby?” Grayson was fuming with deep wrath.

He fished his phone out of his pocket. “I must tell Draco about this and ask him to discipline his son properly. My granddaughter should not suffer such grievances.”

Daniella became so anxious that she sat up in bed.

“Grandpa, please don’t call him. Noah, he…” She hesitated midway, biting her lip and bowing her head.

Meanwhile, Neil’s face remained impassive and serious. If his intuition was correct, Noah would likely be with River at the moment. Daniella’s sudden pitiful act seemed to be directed toward River

Addressing Grayson, Neil spoke calmly, “Grandpa, perhaps you should call Noah first. Daniella didn’t inform him about this situation. It wouldn’t be appropriate to rushingly contact Master De Marco.”

Grayson’s hand froze momentarily before he nodded thoughtfully. “Hmm, I will call Noah first.”

As he spoke, Grayson dialed Noah’s number. When Noah answered, Grayson inquired, “Noah, are you still busy?”

Noah, visibly frustrated, rubbed his temples. “No, what’s the matter, Master Xander?”

With a stern tone, Grayson replied, “If you’re free, come to the hospital. Ella nearly had a miscarriage.”

Noah’s expression quickly turned grave. “Which hospital?”

After providing Noah with the hospital information, Grayson ended the call. Still feeling uneasy, he decided to call Draco. After a brief wait, Draco answered the phone.

“Gray, why are you calling me at this hour?”

Grayson responded, “Your family is so preoccupied. Are “ing to ignore my granddaughter?”

Draco chuckled. “What are you talking about?”

With frustration evident in his voice, Grayson replied, “My granddaughter is carrying your son’s child, Noah’s child. Were you not aware of this?”

Grayson erupted. “Didn’t Noah inform you about such a significant matter? I don’t want to waste time talking on the phone. You had better come to the hospital and teach Noah a lesson.

Upon hearing Grayson’s call, Daniella couldn’t help but feel inwardly ecstatic. However, Neil observed Grayson with concern.

‘Why did Grandpa call Master De Marco directly?‘

After hanging up the call, Grayson walked over and sat beside Daniella. “Ella, don’t cry. I’ll make things right for you.”

Daniella timidly raised her head. “Grandpa, I can handle things on my own. I don’t want to trouble you or make you worry.”

Grayson insisted, “Ella, are you hiding something from me?”

Daniella pursed her lips and soon burst into tears.

“Grandpa, please don’t ask any further.”

Witnessing her hypocritical display, Neil left the ward with a sense of frustration.

He couldn’t prevent Daniella from revealing her intentions. What troubled him most at this point was what would happen to River. Even if he could halt his grandfather, he couldn’t halt the De Marco family from dealing with her.

Furrowing his brow, Neil made his way downstairs to the inpatient department to wait.

Twenty minutes later, he spotted Noah approaching the inpatient department.

Neil stepped forward, blocking Noah’s path. “Noah, you and I need to talk about something.”

Noah glanced at Neil. “I don’t believe there’s anything to discuss between us.”

With that, he continued walking forward.

Anger began to simmer in Neil’s eyes.

“If you truly want to protect River and keep her in Villa Rosa, then you need to figure out a way. My grandfather just called your father. It won’t be long before they discover that River is still with you.”
