“I have no idea what’s going through your head but this is just how I feel and I’m not ashamed to confess it to you.

“G od! I love you so much. Vicky. I love you deeply and I promise that I’ll never let go of you again.”

She smiled seeing the sincerity in his eyes as he spoke.

Oscar placed Sophie on the seat, rose to his feet, helped Vicky stand to her feet, and pulled her into a very tight hug.

“This is a dream come true for me, babe. I’ve done nothing but live in regrets since you left me.”

Thank you for giving me this chance. I promise you that I am not going to let you down.”

Oscar pulled away from the hug. With his arms still around her waist possessively, he leaned closer to her and the duo shared a very deep and passionate kiss that lasted for almost a minute.

They heard their daughter giggle.

Pulling away from the kiss, Oscar placed a deep kiss on the crown of her head before looking into her beautiful eyes.

“I’m not sad about this pregnancy. I was just overwhelmed knowing that I can actually be this happy again after all the s hit that I’d been through.”

“Those tears were just tears of joy.”

“I love you so much, Vicky, and there’s nothing more that would give me joy than spending the rest of my life with you and our kids.”

“As long as I am still alive, I promise to always put a smile on you all’s faces. Thank you so much for adding colors to my life.”

“And just so you know I’m never letting you go and neither am I letting you all out of my sight.”

Vicky smiled, knowing that was exactly what she wanted.

“What hotel are you staying in?”

“It’s twenty minutes away from here.”

“You will check out and move in with me.” He said, leaving no room for argument. Not that she wanted it any other way.

“I don’t know how we are going to do it but we will always be together. I promise you.”

Vicky nodded, smiling, “I believe you. My friend said she was sure you wouldn’t mind flying to Australia every weekend just to spend time with us.”

Oscar smiled, “She’s right! I’m going to make things work. There’s no f ucking way that I’m ever going to allow you all out of my sight again”

“I love how possessive you are about me.”

“I love you more!” Oscar leaned closer to her, covering his mouth against hers, sharing another round of kisses.

Little Sophie had only experienced this display of love between her uncle Gabriel and Aunty Lara and seeing her parents displaying so much affection made her really happy.

Oscar and Vicky were disturbed from their little moment when they felt tiny hands hug them jointly by their legs.

Victoria chuckled, knowing who it was already.

The duo pulled away from the kiss and Oscar picked her up. She was grinning at her parents. “I love you, Daddy,” She pecked his cheek. I love you, Mommy” She leaned closer to Vicky and did the same.

“We love you, Honey” Vee said after which she and Oscar kissed their daughter’s cheek at the same time.

“Stop being silly. What don’t you know about me?”

“A lot! A whole lot! But it’s cool. I am here for you whenever you need me.”

“Do I have any meetings for today?”

“No, you don’t. I sort of cleared your schedule. You can just work on your laptop and let me know if you feel tired so you can go home.”

“Okay, Boss!” Vee forced a smile, going back to her food. She finished the sandwich in no time and Kathie helped her with a glass of water since she didn’t feel like having a milkshake.

“I’m glad you ate.”

“Yeah, me too. I’m glad I was able to have something. Thank you.”

“I should give you some alone time. Call me if you need anything.”

Victoria nodded. “Thank you.”

Kathie blew her a kiss after which she took her leave.

Vee sighed the moment her best friend was out of sight. She was a bit grateful that Kathie didn’t insist that she takes her drug in her presence.

As someone who was still in doubt as to what to do, She had no idea if taking the prenatal drugs was the right thing to do.

Trying to distract her mind to forget about her issues for a while, Victoria buried herself with work for the next two hours.

Feeling a need to stretch her legs, She rose to her feet, picked up her phone, and dialed Lara who answered the call after a couple of rings.

“Hi Sis,” Lara’s cheerful voice came through. “How are you?”

“Good, I guess. What about you?”

“Fine. Are you at work?”

“Yes, I am.”

“How are you? You and Gabe good?” Vee asked, knowing her brother was a bit furious at her since Lara took sides with her yesterday.

“Yeah, we spoke this morning. He is still a bit mad though but I know he is going to be over it.”

“Are you sure? I’m so sorry about it.”

“Stop it, Vee. There is nothing to be sorry about. I love your brother so much but that doesn’t mean I won’t speak up when I see him going in the wrong direction. I know time will definitely heal his wound. Yeah, I miss him but he needs to see things in a positive light”

“Enough about me, how are you?”

Vee swallowed painfully. “I’m okay.”

“Are you sure? You don’t sound convincing.”

“I’m fine.” She said, not wanting to tell Lara about the stunt that Gabriel pulled earlier.

“So you’ve not told Sophie yet?”

“No, I haven’t. It makes no sense letting her know when I’m not sure I’m going to keep it.”

“That would be so sad. She desperately wants a baby brother.”

“Well that is life, isn’t it? We don’t always get what we want.”

“No. I don’t see it that way. You are the one who is preventing that from happening.”

“We all know she is a little girl now and she can’t understand the situation but have you ever thought of how she would feel in the future when she learns about this?”

“She is not going to know.”

“That’s true. She would never know if you never say anything. I guess I want her to be a big sister so bad.”

“Sorry if I may have triggered anything in you. Just know we have your back regardless of anything you decide. Your decision doesn’t make you less of an amazing person and neither would I love you any less. You have your reasons for everything but keeping this baby will make me the happiest godmother on earth.”

“You know I love you so much and I hate to disappoint you so please do not put your hopes up.”

“It’s fine, Sis. I’m good as long as you are happy.”

“I need to get back to work. I will check up on you later.”

“No problem, babes. Take care.”

“Bye,” Victoria mumbled, ending the call.

She heaved a long sigh, after which she walked towards her door, exiting the office. She returned a few greetings as she made her way through the hallway.

Vee finally got to where she was going and knocked on the door. She heard that very familiar voice command her to come in and she did just that.

“Vicky!” Ashton’s lips curved into a smile as he rose from the chair behind his desk.

“Good afternoon. I hope you are not busy.” She replied with a forced smile.

“No. Not at all. Please have your seat.” He gestured to the visitor’s seat before him.

It was only when Victoria was seated that Ashton took his seat.

“You look beautiful.”

Vee smiled, “Thank you.”

“Actually Ash, I need your help!” Vicky went straight to the point before she chickened-out___ or before things began to get weird between the two of them.

“Sure, what is it?”

“I don’t know if you are aware but I was nominated to go to California to oversee the company’s project for nine weeks.”

“Unfortunately, that won’t be possible because of my daughter as well as my health condition.”

“I am in the process of talking to Mr Philip about it but I want to plead with you to go on the trip on my behalf,” Vee said, looking at him expectantly.

“Say something!!!!” She voiced out when he did nothing but stare at her.

“What makes you think I would want to go to California?”

“I know this could come inconvenient for you, especially when you have plans and you did not see it coming. I didn’t see it coming either.”

“I promise you that you won’t feel alone. I would not be there physically but we will talk from time to time and I will help you with as much work as I can from here.”

“You are literally the only one I can trust to go on this trip and not f u ck it up. Please.”

“Say something, Ash!” She whispered when he said nothing.

Ashton sighed. “I will go on one condition.”

“What is it?” She asked, eager to give him whatever he requests.

“Spend the night with me.”
