Draco arrived at the company to meet Noah. Taking a seat on the sofa, he commented, “You’ve found yourself a clever and articulate girl.”
Noah’s expression suddenly turned cold, and his voice carried a hint of gloom. “Did you meet
River?”
“When do you plan on getting rid of that woman?” Draco demanded.
“And when are you going to marry Ella?”
Noah closed the document in front of him. “I made myself very clear last night. You don’t have to worry about my personal affairs.”
“If you don’t want to handle it, I’ll take care of it for you,” Draco asserted with a harsh tone.
An icy chill swept over Noah. “If you dare to touch River, I won’t hesitate to remove every post
Adam and his family hold in this company!”
“You don’t have that authority yet!” Draco struck his walking stick against the floor in anger.
“Do you think you can intimidate me just by raising your voice?” Noah let out a cold chuckle.
“I won’t interfere with them as long as you don’t do anything about River.”
Draco glared fiercely at Noah. “Well, it seems you’ve become quite rebellious.”
Noah replied coolly, “You should enjoy your retirement and not concern yourself with matters that are none of your business.”
“I can reclaim everything I’ve given you!” Draco’s anger caused him to tremble.
Noah reminded him, “Do I need to remind you of the consequences when my elder brother and
Adam took over MK in the past?”
“You!” Draco abruptly stood up, gritting his teeth and saying, “I never took you for an affectionate man.” With that, he turned around and left.
At night, Grayson accompanied Daniella back to Xander Residence for her to recover. He offered her consolation, saying, “My dear, stay here and rest assured.”
Daniella wore a look of apology. “Grandpa, I feel so sorry for causing you so much trouble because of me.”
“How many times do you need to say that?” Grayson replied, feeling sympathy for her. “You are my biological granddaughter.”
Daniella nodded. “Okay, Grandpa. But can you promise me one thing?”
Grayson assured her, “Tell me, and I’ll make the promise.”
“Can you not be angry with Noah?” Daniella asked, her expression downcast.
“After all, I am partially responsible for this situation. I didn’t handle our relationship well.”
With a scoff, Grayson remarked, “What more can I say? You’re engaged to Noah, and I should have dealt with that shameless woman instead! Rest well and leave this matter to me.”
Daniella suppressed a triumphant smile. That was the promise she had hoped for.
“Grandpa, you’re the best! From now on, I’ll treat you even better.”
Neil overheard their conversation as he had just arrived upstairs.
Standing by the door of the room, he observed Daniella’s bright smile and furrowed his brow deeply.
‘Isn’t it too obvious that she wants to use Grandpa to deal with River? She’s not my sister, no doubt about it. After all, Mom and Dad were never afraid to love openly and confront their enemies.‘
Neil averted his gaze and took out his phone, sending a text to River.
[River, I suggest you do your best to stay at Villa Rosa for now. Don’t go out.]
River, who was about to start writing a manuscript on her laptop, received the message from
Neil.
She quickly replied, [Mr. Xander, what do you mean?]
[Daniella is currently at Xander Residence. She’ll try to manipulate Grandpa into taking action against you.]
Upon reading the message, River sneered. Daniella had no power to make Noah truly loyal to her, so she continuously tried to create trouble for River.
Even if Daniella succeeded in having Noah, she would fail to win his heart.
Only River would willingly accept such a losing deal.
[Thank you for your reminder.]
Looking at the screen, Neil sighed. ‘When is River going to stop resisting contacting me?’
At nine o’clock, Noah arrived home.
Lily approached him and took his coat, saying, “Sir, your father came today.”
Noah pursed his lips.
“What did they talk about?”
Lily summarized their conversation for him. Dullness quickly washed over his face.
“She truly has no fear.”
With that, he made his way upstairs.
Reaching the second floor, he opened the door to a bedroom.
River had just closed her laptop when she noticed him entering the room with a slightly gloomy expression. She glanced at him briefly before picking up her clothes and heading toward the bathroom.
When she brushed past him, he suddenly grabbed her arm.
“River!” Noah called out with a somber voice.
River stopped in her tracks, retrieving her hand. She slightly turned her body and asked, “What’s the matter?”
Noah’s brows furrowed. “You shouldn’t have spoken to him that way.”

*A new scene*
Alex was left speechless. He responded, “By the way, you’ve been looking into River’s background lately. Do you suspect that she was the one who saved you?”
“Mhmm.” Noah was straightforward with Alex.
“I don’t believe in so many coincidenazces. On the other hand, Daniella doesn’t seem familiar to me.”
“What did River say?” Alex continued to inquire.
“She told me she doesn’t remember what happened that year.”
Alex fell into deep thought. “Could there have been some kind of accident in between?”
At the mention of that, Noah fell silent for a moment.
“Reuben discovered that River was hospitalized for a period of time during her childhood.”
Suddenly, something clicked in Alex’s mind.
“That could very well be the reason for her memory loss,” Alex suggested. “I think it would be wise to have someone investigate her hospitalization in detail.”
Noah narrowed his eyes and after a while, he took out his phone and sent a text to Reuben.
[Look into the reason for River’s hospitalization back then.]
On Thursday, after submitting her design, River asked Paige to accompany her for a prenatal check–up at a rural hospital.
With four months into her pregnancy, her belly was starting to show a slight bulge.
The doctor smiled wryly and commented, “It’s hard to find a woman in Novamere City with such a discreet baby bump. Not to mention, you’re carrying triplets!” 1
River and Paige smiled but didn’t respond.
After leaving the hospital, Paige touched River’s belly and suggested, “I think you should start wearing looser clothes.”
River agreed, “You’re right. Since I’m pregnant with triplets, I need to wear loose–fitting clothes to hide it well ”
“Let’s go shopping then.”
Paige pulled River into the car and they headed to a shopping mall.
They took the elevator to the third floor, where the maternity and baby section was located. There, River spotted Daniella accompanied by two bodyguards.
Paige clenched her teeth in anger. “What terrible luck! We run into that arrogant bitch even when we’re just out shopping.”
Observing the bags in the bodyguards‘ hands, River remarked, “Looks like she’s been shopping too.”
Paige linked her arm with River’s and hurriedly walked to the nearest maternity store. Just as they were selecting loose–fitting clothes, they heard Daniella’s voice.
“What a coincidence! Running into you guys here.”
Paige was about to argue with Daniella, but River stopped her. “There’s no point in arguing with her.”
Reluctantly, Paige held her tongue. However, Daniella approached them eagerly.
“Why are you buying clothes like these?” Daniella smirked arrogantly.
“Are you afraid of being forced to have an abortion if they find out?”
