River was deeply concerned. “I worry he’ll stop me from seeking revenge. After all, Daniella is his child’s biological mother.”
“Don’t see it that way,” Lily said, guiding River to sit down. “I told you before, Mr. De Marco was heartbroken in the past. If he cares for you, he’ll support you and be on your side.”
River fell silent, unable to let go of the past incident when Noah doubted her and attempted to take her children away. Those two issues still haunted her.
Trying to change the subject, River said, “I’m hungry, Ms. Smith. What’s for dinner?”
Lily smiled helplessly.
On Wednesday, Kenny and his team arrived in Novamere City.
River had arranged a bus to pick them up from the airport. The team, consisting of over 20
people, made a grand exit.
As soon as the bus stopped, River got out to welcome Kenny, calling out, “Kenny!”
Kenny smiled and ran over to embrace her. “I’ve missed you so much! It’s been too long!”
River playfully pushed him away. “You’re hugging me too tightly!”
Kenny then planted a kiss on River’s cheek before loosening his grip. “I love your gentle, motherly aura the most.”
River blushed and said, “I’ll send you back to Ylesir if you keep behaving like this.”
Kenny chuckled “Relax, woman.”
Nearby, Noah stepped out of his car and witnessed the scene.
Reuben was standing next to him and was stunned. The woman looked remarkably similar to
River, except for her concealed facial features.
Reuben couldn’t help but wonder about the person’s ashes buried in the graveyard. He looked at Noah shifted his gaze and said abruptly, “Look into this!”
Then he walked into the airport.
Meanwhile, at the kindergarten.
Liora played with her toys next to Axel.
“Axel, your father looks just like my brother,” she said.
Axel looked at Tyler sitting opposite him and pursed his lips.
Tyler smiled when their eyes met, but Axel quickly looked away, replying nonchalantly, “Hmm.”
Liora put down her toys and asked, “Where is your house, Axel? My mommy said friends can have playdates at each other’s houses.”
Tyler listened to Liora’s question with a smile. He had given Liora this task–to find something that could be used for a DNA match to prove that Noah was their father.
Axel tightly clutched his top, offering no response to Liora’s remark. He didn’t want them to see how Daniella treated him.
Seeing that Axel remained silent, Liora came up with another idea. “It seems you don’t want to be friends with me. I shouldn’t have helped you if that’s the case!”
Tyler suppressed a smile as he observed Liora skillfully provoking Axel.
For a brief moment, guilt and panic flickered in Axel’s eyes. “Villa Rosa. You can come on
Saturday.”
Liora sweetly smiled and extended her little finger toward Axel. “It’s a playdate then. We’re coming to you on Saturday!”
The sight of her finger stunned Axel. He anxiously clenched his fist before slowly making a pinky promise with Liora.
During the night, Reuben shared the investigation’s findings with Noah. One folder contained information about preschool students‘ parents, while the other was dedicated to River.
Upon reading River’s folder, Noah frowned. “Riveryn Healy?”
Reuben confirmed, “Yes, her name is Riveryn Healy. She used to live in Ylesir but recently returned to the country. She purchased a building across from ours to set up her company.”
Noah placed the folder on the table and inquired, “Do we have a photo of her?”
Reuben replied, “Unfortunately, Mr. De Marco, there’s no photo available.”
“None?” Noah’s eyes narrowed. “That’s odd unless she purposely concealed it. Have you looked into her background?”
Reuben explained, “Our team found an ID card, but it’s blurred out.
Noah sneered, thinking, ‘River’s guilt must be consuming her!‘”
He lit a cigarette, took a puff, and added, “Find out her current address.”
Reuben said, “I can’t, Mr. De Marco. Her address has been blurred as well. Ms. Healy has an excellent hacker working for her.”
Noah frowned. “Send someone to watch her.”
“Yes, sir!”
Reuben left the room while Noah walked to the floor–to–ceiling window, gazing out into the night.
If he hadn’t seen the two children, he would have believed the information to be authentic.
River’s failure to hide the children was a waste, especially since the children looked so much like him.
He had been searching for her for five long years, and he wouldn’t let her disappear again this time.
At Bayview Villa.
River suddenly woke up, sitting upright in bed.
She had dreamt of Noah demanding his children back.
When she refused, he made every effort to abduct them.
Learning about this, Daniella beat up her children, and their cries haunted River.
River hurried to check on her kids in their room, feeling relieved when she saw their adorable sleeping faces.
After returning to her room, River tossed and turned in bed.
Having encountered Noah multiple times, she questioned her impulsive decision to insist on sending her children to the same preschool as his son’s.
After all, most preschools had adequate security, making it unnecessary for her kids to attend the same one.
She regretted her choice and wondered whether it was still possible to switch schools.
On Saturday morning, River wanted to join Kenny in searching for a clothing factory for sale.
She entrusted her sleeping children to Lily and left.
Lily checked on the kids and found them still asleep before heading out for grocery shopping.
As soon as the door closed, Tyler and Liora opened their eyes simultaneously.
Tyler looked at Liora and said, “Lia, get dressed. We’re heading out.”
Liora changed her clothes excitedly but felt uncertain about going out after washing up and heading downstairs.
She frowned at Tyler and asked, “Tyler, will we get into trouble if Mommy notices?”
Tyler glanced at her while putting on his shoes. “Do you want to find out if he is our father?”
“Yes!” Liora replied immediately. Then, she hesitated and added, “However, Mommy told us that Daddy has turned into soil.”
Tyler stood up after tying his shoes. “If you’re scared to go, you can stay home and cover for me.”
“No! I’m scared to be alone!” Liora quickly put on her shoes and held onto Tyler’s top.
Tyler gently caressed Liora’s head. “Don’t worry. Mommy will probably punish me first.”
Liora nodded, and they headed to Villa Rosa.
Twenty minutes later, the two children arrived at Villa Rosa. The security guard led them to
Noah’s villa, probably informed by Axel in advance.
Axel was already waiting outside. Liora rushed over to him with enthusiasm. “Tyler and I are here, Axel!”
Anxiously, Axel took two steps back from Liora’s excitement.
“Come in,” he said in a brief, dull tone.
Liora and Tyler entered the house with Axel. The nanny and maid were shocked when they saw the two children.
“The boy looks like Mr. De Marco!” the maid remarked to the nanny.
“They look really similar, except for the lips,” the nanny agreed.
“He looks just like Mr. De Marco’s illegitimate child…” the maid added.
Tyler smiled and looked up upon hearing their conversation. “It’s a pleasure to meet you.
The well–mannered Tyler won the hearts of the nanny and maid.
Tyler was graceful and obedient, while Liora was doll–like.
After the three children removed their shoes, the sound of a car’s engine could be heard outside the villa
Axel turned his head and noticed a white sports car parked outside, causing a drastic change
