New scene:
River felt utterly ashamed.
Being occupied with work for the past five years, she hadn’t paid much attention to her children.
As a result, she didn’t even know they had social network accounts.
Rubbing her nose, River asked, “Kenny, are you friends with Ty?”
“Yes,” Kenny replied, pulling out his phone and showing Tyler’s chat history before handing it to
River.
River sent a message: [Where are you, Ty? Reply ‘Mommy‘ if you see this!]
After sending the message, River grabbed her car keys.
She looked at Lily, who seemed guilty and anxious, and said reassuringly, “I’m going to the police station, Ms. Smith. Don’t worry.”
Lily’s eyes were red with tears. “It’s my fault for not watching the two children, River.”
“It’s not your fault, Ms. Smith,” River said. “The children have minds of their own. I’ll just check on their location.”
Turning to Kenny, she added, “Stay with Ms. Smith, Kenny.”
Kenny replied, “You go. I’ll be here.”
At Villa Rosa.
Four people were standing in Axel’s room.
Noah and the two children exchanged glances before he asked Axel, “Did you invite them over?”
Axel nodded silently, pursing his lips.
As Noah observed Tyler, he couldn’t shake the feeling that Tyler might be his son.
He had asked Paige about it in the past, and she had told him that River was pregnant with his triplets.
But there was a problem. If Riveryn or River were their mother, where was the third child? Why hadn’t he seen them yet?
Noah scrutinized Tyler, realizing that getting information from him wouldn’t be easy.
Turning to Liora, Noah asked gently, “Who is your mother?”
Fear filled Liora’s eyes as she shook her head and replied, “I don’t know.”
Noah’s expression turned solemn. “You don’t even know who your mother is?”
This angered Liora a bit. ‘Why is he asking about Mommy? We’re here to play with Axel!‘
Despite her irritation, she was scared of Noah’s serious demeanor, so she puffed up her cheeks and said, “We don’t tell strangers our mommy’s name!”
Noah lowered himself to her level and spoke firmly. “I won’t let you go home unless you tell me. If you do, I’ll give you a ride home and cotton candy.”
Liora retorted disdainfully, “My brother can get me boxes of chocolate. Your cotton candy is worthless.”
Tyler had been worried that Liora might reveal the truth out of fear. He found her remark amusing and realized that he had spoiled her.
Noah’s mouth twitched. ‘She can’t even be bribed with food?‘ he thought.
Meanwhile, Tyler stood up and politely asked, “Sir, may I use your restroom?”
‘Sir? Do I look that old?‘ Noah wondered.
Noah coldly replied, “Go ahead.”
Tyler left the room, his gaze fixed on the other two rooms. He had a purpose today and wanted to seize an opportunity.
Tyler’s eyes lit up as he opened the door to the first room, which was gloomy and dark. He believed it belonged to the scumbag.
He stepped into the bathroom and discreetly took Noah’s toothbrush, putting it into his bag.
After finishing, he returned to Axel’s room and called out to Liora, who was still bickering with
Noah, “We should go, Liora.”
Liora leaped off the sofa, preparing to run to Tyler.
However, Noah quickly grabbed her arm and said firmly, “I’ll give you a ride.”
Tyler politely declined, taking Liora’s hand, and said, “It’s okay, sir. We can go home by ourselves.”
Noah stared at him coldly, insisting, “It’s not safe.”
“We’ll be just fine,” Tyler calmly reassured. “Please don’t worry, sir.”
Noah narrowed his eyes and retorted, “Since you’re so capable, I won’t give you a ride.”
Tyler and Liora said goodbye to Axel and left. He silently watched them go.
At the police station.
River was still checking traffic surveillance footage when she saw the children getting out of the cab at Villa Rosa. She was terrified, wondering why they had gone to such a dangerous place.
River hesitated but eventually decided to pick up the children herself, believing Noah wasn’t home at that time.
As she was about to get into her car, she received a call from an unknown number.
River quickly answered, and to her surprise, it was Tyler on the line.
“Hello?”
“Mommy, it’s me, Tyler.”
River was stunned. “Tyler, where are you now? Whose phone are you using?”
“It’s the ride–sharing service’s driver’s phone.”
“Tyler! You should have told me or Ms. Smith when you went outside. We were so worried about you!”
River reacted impulsively.
“I know. That is why I borrowed the phone to call you.” Tyler spoke in a calm yet graceful tone.
River was at a loss for words. She was well aware of Tyler’s independent personality, as he skillfully managed to make it seem like he was in the right even when he was at fault.
“Where are you? Are you on your way home?” she asked.
“Yes, Mommy. We’ll be home soon. See you there.”
Tyler hung up and passed the phone to the driver. “Thank you, sir.”
“Both of you are five years old, right?” the driver asked.
Tyler said smilingly, “Yes, sir.”
“That’s really bold of you-” The driver suddenly remembered something halfway through his speech. “Didn’t you get the ride using your phone? Why did you borrow my phone?”
Liora immediately answered, “Sir, my brother has a phone that my mother doesn’t know of! He uses it for work!”
Tyler did not manage to stop Liora in time.
Liora would expose him sooner or later!
Tyler told Liora after seeing River’s car at the villa, “Lia, don’t tell her the reason we went to
Villa Rosa today.”
Liora nodded. “I know. My lips are sealed!”
Tyler knew that Liora was the worst at keeping secrets in the family!
River, Lily, and Kenny were waiting on the sofa.
Liora clutched the hem of Tyler’s shirt anxiously, but she forgot her fear of being penalized after seeing Kenny.
“Uncle Kenny!” Liora threw herself into Kenny’s arms and cuddled.
“Lia!” Kenny picked up Liora in excitement. “Tell me, did you miss me?”
“So so much!” Liora giggled.
River was rendered speechless by their affectionate reunion. ‘How am Lsupposed to discipline my children now!?‘
River found herself unable to do anything to Liora, so she shifted her gaze to Tyler, who was taking off his backpack.
With a stern expression, River called out, “Come here, Ty.”
Tyler stood before River and spoke up before she could say anything. “I’m sorry for taking Lia out on a playdate, Mommy. It’s my fault for not notifying you earlier. But you wouldn’t stop Lia and me from making friends, right?”
Tyler’s handsome face exuded grace, but his dark eyes betrayed a hint of cunning.
River couldn’t argue when Tyler had already admitted his mistake.
Should she really prevent her children from playing with the child at Villa Rosa? After all, the child did nothing wrong!
Her children might even question her resistance.
In frustration, River replied, “I won’t make a fuss since you acknowledged your mistake.
However, from now on, you have to inform an adult before leaving the house, Ty. You can write me a note about where you’re going and who you’re meeting. I’ll allow that.”
Tyler nodded. “Understood, Mommy.”
