“She is the most powerful witch I’ve seen.” Nathan answered.
“Sage, we need a portal to Blue Moon.” I told her and she nodded.
“You guys stay here, explain what happened to the King’s and we’ll be back with Ashlyn.” Mason told everyone. Sage took Mason’s hand, and he thought of the Blue Moon pack house, and Sage opened up a portal. The three of us stepped through and it closed behind us.
The pack hospital was located beside the pack house, and the three of us rushed over to the hospital. We found Brad in the waiting room with Donny. Brad was a fucken mess.
“Any news?” I asked. Donny looked over at us and shook his head.
“No one has come out to see us yet,” Donny answered while he was comforting his friend.
Mason sat down beside Brad and leaned forward so he could speak with him. But before he could say a word, Ashlyn came out of the OR covered in blood. Brad immediately sat up at the sound of the automatic doors.
“Ashlyn!” He rushed over to her, wrapping her in a hug.
“Brad, she is okay,” I heard her whisper to him and he pulled away to look down at her.
“What?” He said.
“Both her and the baby will be okay.” She told him, letting out a breath.
“How?” He whispered.
“I healed her. She is still weak, but the baby is okay. They are just getting her cleaned up and are going to move her into a room. The doctor will come get us when they are done.” She told him and he squeezed her into his chest.
“Thank you, Ashlyn.” He cried. And she hugged him back just as tight.
“Of course, Brad. I love you three so much. I would let nothing happen to any of you. I’m just glad that you called me when you did.” she mumbled into his chest and he nodded.
“How the hell did you portal?” he asked, pulling away from him.
“I’m half witch.” She told him proudly. And he was so stunned, he said nothing.
“I’m sorry I have a meeting with some kings that I have to attend. But I’ll be back tonight or tomorrow morning. Okay?” She told him and he hugged her again. When they parted, she went over to hug Donny and Magnus, let his unhappiness known. She gave me a look but said nothing.
“Magnus, what is your problem?” I asked my dragon.
This was extreme, even for him. But he didn’t answer. He just huffed and retreated to the back of my mind.
“She’ll be okay, Brad. They both will. I’ll be back.” She told him before Sage opened a portal and we were now standing in the council building’s front garden again.
“Babygirl, are you okay?” I asked her, while I wrapped an arm around her waist. She turned away from me and emptied her stomach into the snow. I looked over at Mason and he looked concerned about her as well. Sage leaned over to her while I was holding Ashlyn up by her waist.
“Ashlyn, what’s wrong?” Sage asked her, concerned.
“I don’t know. I just felt dizzy, but I’m okay now.” She answered Sage and stood up with her back to my chest.
“Let’s get you inside. We can find you some clean clothes before we head to the meeting.” I whispered to her, and she nodded. I bent down and lifted her bridal style and she snuggled into my chest, closing her eyes.
I followed Sage into the council building with Mason beside me. He was watching Ashlyn. Her breathing evened out, and I knew she had fallen asleep.
“Sage, so you know what happened?” I asked her in the building’s foyer. We weren’t planning on staying, but Mason was getting a key card for the wolf wing.
“I’m not sure. She definitely used a lot of magic quickly. Maybe she is just exhausted, and that made her feel dizzy.” She answered.
“Let’s get her into bed. We can go meet with the king’s while she has a nap. We can leave Liam, Brandon and Matt with her.” Mason told us while he walked back over to us after collecting a keycard.
We walked towards the wolf wing, still carrying our sleeping Queen. I had this unnerving feeling about leaving her alone without us. I couldn’t shake it. I knew she was safe with those three, but I didn’t want to leave her. And Magnus isn’t talking to me. All he has to do is explain why he is in such a mood.
We made it to the wing, and the others were waiting for us. Mason opened the door, and we all stepped in.
“Mason, what happened?” Liam asked, concerned.
“She’s just tired. She used too much magic too quickly,” he explained.
“But why is she covered in blood?” Liam questioned, and Mason sighed.
“It’s Grace’s blood, Ashlyn is fine. And Grace and her baby are also fine.” Mason confirmed, and Liam nodded. I moved past everyone and entered our room. Mason followed and closed the door behind him. He helped me get her undressed and to wipe off all the blood that seeped through to her skin. When we were done, I covered her with a blanket and looked over at Mason. He was watching her intently.
“What are you thinking?” I asked him, and he shook his head.
“I’m thinking that she needs to slow down.” and I have to agree. She needs to slow down and ease into her magic or it might kill her.
“Whatever happens, we are here for her.” I told him, walking over to him, and he nodded.
“Now, let’s get this meeting over with. We will just have to tell them they can see her after she wakes up. And next time, we will have the meeting before her training.” I told him and he chuckled, shaking his head.
“Now, we just have to figure out how to get her to slow down,” he told me while we left our room.
“I’ll leave that up to you.” I told him and he glared at me.
“What happened to our united front?” he asked me and I laughed.
“Only when what we need to tell her won’t piss her off.” I told him, and he rolled his eyes.
“Scared?” he teased.
“Absolutely. Have you not met her?” I explained, and he let out a laugh.
“The trick is not to show her your fear.” he laughed, and I shook my head. She could portal us to the north pole and we would never make it back. I’m not in the mood to have her pissed off at me again. We both walked out into the living room, closing the door behind me.
“Sage, ready?” Mason asked her.
“Yeah, I have someone bringing Ashlyn some clean clothes and the others are already waiting in the meeting room.” She told us and we nodded.
“Then let’s get this over with.” I told them, while we made our way out of the wolf wing.
Ashlyn
I woke with a start; I was frantically trying to remember the last thing that happened before I fell asleep. I remember walking through the portal and throwing up. And then Derek carried me.
Why was I walking through the portal? I sat up in bed, trying to remember. I threw the blanket off and found I was only in my bra and underwear. Grace.
Grace was hurt, and that’s why I walked through that portal. I started looking for my clothes and my phone. I needed to call Brad to make sure that Grace was okay.
I found myself trapped in the blanket while I was searching for my phone. I fell off the bed with a loud thud, letting out a scream. I heard the door open with a bang, but I couldn’t see because the damn blanket was covering my face.
“Ashlyn, what’s wrong?” Liam asked me.
“I can’t find my phone or clothes and I’m stuck in this damn blanket.” I huffed. And I could hear him trying not to snicker.
After some tugging and pulling, we finally got my head out. My hair was static, and I quickly tried to smooth it out. Brandon, Liam and Matt were all watching me.
“Where’s Mason and Derek?” I asked them.
“Both of them and Sage are with the Kings,” Brandon answered.
“How long was I out for?” I asked them, looking around. I really needed my phone. Matt walked over to the other nightstand and picked something up. He walked around the bed and passed me my phone.
“Thank you. I need to call Brad to make sure Grace is okay.” I told them. I was looking at my phone. I didn’t have any new texts.
“How are you feeling?” Liam asked me. He was kneeling in front of me.
“I’m starving and I could use some clothes. I need to get to that meeting. Someone should have woken me,” I told them.
“We’ll bring you some food and clothes while you talk to Brad,” Liam said while standing. The three of them left the room, closing the door behind them. I stood up and shook myself out of the blanket.
I called Brad, and he told me that Grace was doing a lot better. She was weak, but she had been up to speak to him. The baby is doing good, as well. He told me she was attending to a patient, and the patient was rabid. They weren’t sure what caused it, but they had to heavily sedate him. They were running tests, as we speak.
I told him I’d be there tomorrow morning. I’m sure Ian was busy investigating this, and I didn’t want to be a bother. After I ended the call, I wanted into the bathroom to get myself cleaned up. I still had some dried blood on me.
I heard a knock at the door and I called for whomever it was to enter. Liam came in with some clean clothes. He walked to the bathroom door and immediately turned around.
“Sorry, I didn’t mean to look.” He said while he passed back the clothes.
“Yes, you did.” I teased him. I pulled the tight, fitted sweatpants on. And then I pulled the long grey sleeved shirt over my head. Both were a little big, but they were comfy.
“Maybe, a little.” He joked, and I laughed. I walked around him and we both looked at each other.
“Just don’t tell your mates,” he said worryingly. And I laughed.
“I would never rat you out,” I told him.
“Good, now come. We have food in the living room for you, and then we will walk you down to the meeting.”
After I finished eating, I just wanted to go back to sleep. But I was walking through the halls of the council building on my way to the meeting room. When we arrived at the doors, Liam opened it for me and I stepped in. He closed the door behind me. Everyone at the table was looking at me and I now felt insecure about what I was wearing.
“Baby, you’re awake?” Mason came over to me and gave me a hug. He then led me over to where Derek was now standing by his chair. Derek wrapped his arms around me.
“How are you feeling, Babygirl?” He whispered into my neck. He was placing gentle kisses along my neck.
“It was good until I ate. And now I’m tired again,” I answered him.
“Okay, then we should hurry this meeting along.” Derek told me, pulling away. Mason pulled out my seat in between them and we all sat down.
“Okay, so where should we start?” I asked the room.
“Ashlyn, I’m sorry about the force I gave out, I’m not sure what happened.” King Gregory said.
“It wasn’t your fault. Selene wanted to speak with me,” I told him.
“What have you three explained?” I asked Derek, Mason and Sage.
“We explained about your visit with the moon goddess,” Mason answered. I turned my attention to King Draco. I knew it hurt him over my mother’s decisions.
“King Draco, I don’t think my mother meant to hurt anyone. I think she thought she was making things simpler by only taking one mate. She was always destined to have a hybrid child. And she was told this,” I explained.
“And what about James?” He asked me.
“James is still my father. He had marked my mother. It just means that Gregory is also my father.” I told him.
